Story
Meet Slater, a 5 year old, 19 pound, male Chihuahua mix. Slater is a funny little lad who eats up attention as much as he`ll eat up any food that drops in front of him. Slater will get excited and start doing a tippy-tap dance when you approach him. And once he had your attention, he`ll roll over and demand a belly rub. Slater is a sweet and well-behaved dog that will steal your heart, and food if given the chance. He enjoys cudling up and hanging out with his people, be it for walks, or relaxing on the sofa binge watching a show. Slater would do especially well in a home with another dog, as he loves to have a buddy and be social. If you love a social pup that will share your love of friends and food, Slater might be the pup for you. Walk-ins are available from Tuesday to Friday from 1:00 PM - 6:00 PM. Saturday and Sundays have walk-in hours from noon to 4 PM. The best way to get in touch with us is by email: info@secondchancespca.org. ~~Although we do our very best to make sure your new pup is in tiptop health before adoption, things could drastically change a month later.  Since we don’t have a long health history of your adopted dog, we can only treat the pet for whatever symptoms present during the initial exam and follow up exams.~ Health: Successfully Treated for Heartworms .  ***** No obvious health issues found during vet exam ***** Temperament: Meet Lil Buff, the sweetest, most laid-back boy you'll ever meet! At 7 years old and a petite 7.5lbs, Lil Buff is the perfect companion for anyone looking for a loving and mellow friend. He adores attention and loves to snuggle right next to his person on the couch or in bed. While he may bark occasionally, it's rare, and his favorite pastime is simply sunbathing in the backyard. Lil Buff has been treated for heartworms and is still on his journey to full recovery, so we keep things calm and quiet to help him heal. He may show some interest in chasing the cat, but he's wise enough to know when to rethink that plan—especially when it's a one-on-one situation! Buff is great at using the dog door, enjoys his meals, and loves a good nap. He's currently working on his house manners and has discovered that he absolutely loves carrots! This playful and adorable boy also gets along well with other dogs, making him a lovely addition to any home. Lil Buff deserves all the love and hugs a dog could ask for. If you're ready to open your heart and home to this charming little guy, apply today to make Lil Buff yours! -- Where did he come from:  He came to our rescue from a hoarding situation. This little guy may be small in stature at just 5 lbs, but his personality and energy level are triple his size! While Tony can be a bit shy around people, he absolutely loves his doggy siblings. He’s also getting along with his kitty siblings, but he’ll need some time and patience to grow that friendship. Tony enjoys running around the yard and playing with small toys—he goes wild for little tennis balls! He does well in his crate and sleeps silently through the night, eagerly hopping into his cozy space when bedtime rolls around or when his foster parents leave for work. Tony is making great progress with potty training and loves to go outside whenever he can. He is still getting used to wearing a harness and going for walks, but with continued patience and encouragement from his furry siblings and people, Tony will blossom into a more confident little boy. At about 8 months old, Tony is ready for a forever home where he can thrive. Apply today and give this sweet boy the loving family he deserves! -- Where did he come from:  He came to our rescue from a hoarding situation. Adoption: ***** $800.00 ***** Weight: 4.8 lbs. Story
Harry’s journey to safety was nothing short of a miracle. Just three days after arriving at the shelter, he was placed on the euthanasia list. With only 15 minutes to spare, we were able to scoop him up and give this sweet boy the second chance he so deeply deserves. Harry is estimated to be between 5 and 8 years old and weighs just 9 pounds. When we first rescued him, his teeth were in terrible shape, but thanks to a major dental procedure, his mouth is now clean and healthy. He did lose several teeth, but still has plenty left for his favorite soft meals. His vet notes mention mild luxating patellas—a common issue in small dogs—but they don’t seem to bother him or cause any pain. About Harry: • Calm, gentle, and happiest lounging by your side • Sleeps soundly through the night in his cozy bed • Easygoing and not hyper—perfect for a peaceful home • Best suited for a home without small children Harry has so much love to give and is ready for his forever home—or a loving foster while he waits. His adoption fee is $225, which helps cover his veterinary care, including his recent dental work. If you’re ready to open your heart to Harry, please fill out an application and make this precious little guy part of your family. https://chloespetrescue.org/application

Story
Meet Laverne! Laverne is so happy to be out of the shelter and settling into foster life—especially since her foster dad has already started spoiling her (as she deserves). She’s about 2 years old and we believe she’s a Chihuahua mix, possibly with a little Rat Terrier sprinkled in. Whatever the mix, she’s a petite 9-pound sweetheart with a gentle spirit and a whole lot of love to give. FYI, not good for children. Laverne is fully vetted and ready to start the next chapter of her life with a family who has a big heart for a small dog. She’s already learned how to use the doggie door and does great with it, using it when her foster dad is outside to supervise—safety first! She enjoys time in the backyard but also appreciates the comforts of being indoors with her people. If you’re looking for a tiny companion who’s grateful, loving, and ready to be someone’s little shadow, Laverne might just be your girl. Her adoption fee is $225.
