Story
Meet Dewey! Dewey is a 5-year-old apple head Chihuahua with a gentle soul and a heart full of love, despite the difficult start he’s had. He came into the shelter severely underweight after not being properly fed, but this tiny boy has proven he’s a resilient little fighter. Since coming into foster care, Dewey has been on a carefully monitored feeding plan and is already making great progress toward a healthy weight. He’s been seen by our vet and has a medical plan in place to support his recovery every step of the way. With proper care, good nutrition, and lots of love, Dewey is truly blossoming. What makes Dewey so special isn’t just his resilience—it’s his incredibly sweet and affectionate nature. He absolutely LOVES to snuggle and will happily curl up in your lap any chance he gets. He’s crate-trained, house-trained, and gets along well with other dogs. Even more endearing, Dewey seeks out affection from every person he meets—he just wants to love and be loved. Dewey is up to date on vaccines, has been treated for heartworms, and is microchipped. His neuter is covered by Legacy Humane Society—we’re just giving him a few weeks to gain a bit more weight before his surgery. Dewey is looking for a patient, compassionate family who will continue helping him regain his strength while giving him the forever home he’s always deserved. In return, he promises to be your most loyal little companion. If you think you might be the person to make that special connection and give Dewey the loving home he’s been waiting for, please complete an application at legacyhumanesociety.org, and his foster mom will be in touch. We do not have a facility to house the dogs in our program. They are all kept in foster homes until they are adopted. Therefore, if you are interested in adopting from LHS, please complete an online application at http://legacyhumanesociety.org/adoptfoster/adoption-application/ and we will contact you asap about the status of your application. Story
All Dallas Dog adoptable pets are spayed or neutered, microchipped, and up to date on vaccines upon finalizing adoption. Puppies adopted under the age of five months require a spay/neuter contract, and all dogs are required to be spayed by six months unless otherwise medically noted. Our dogs are currently on heartworm preventative. Puppies receive 3 to 4 rounds of vaccinations depending on their age, and adults receive two rounds unless they've been with us longer than a year, in which case they receive the booster update. You can complete an application or view all the adoptable pets on our website at www.dallasdog.org/adopt. Upon receiving your application, please allow us 2-3 business days to review and process.

Story
Meet Eevee ✨ Eevee came to us alongside her sisters, Holley and Ella, when their owner’s declining health made it impossible for her to continue caring for them. While it’s been a big transition, Eevee has handled it with quiet grace and a whole lot of heart. At 7 years old, Eevee is the perfect mix of calm, loving, and still full of life. She’s dog-friendly, people-friendly, and fully believes that belly rubs should be a daily requirement (we agree). She’s settling beautifully into her foster home and even catching on to the doggie door like a pro. Eevee isn’t looking back—she’s ready for a fresh start filled with love, cozy spots, and a family to call her own. If you’re looking for a sweet, easygoing companion who will happily soak up affection and give it right back, Eevee is your girl 💛

Dumped in a shelter scared and alone. Her perfect match is out there; someone that wants to show her what trust and life are all about.
