Story

Piper is a well-trained, 6-month old Chihuahua mix puppy with an adorable underbite. She knows the commands for Sit, Wait (when being handed a treat), Okay (to take treats) and Up (to jump). Piper has lived in foster homes with multiple dogs and cats and gets along well with everybody. Of course she likes to do all the puppy things: wrassle with her foster brothers and sisters, play with squeaky toys, run around the yard. When she’s done playing, pick Piper up and she turns into melty puppy—just settling herself into your arms for a nice butt scritch or tummy rub. She loves to be held on her back like a baby. She is very ticklish and kicks her foot constantly when getting petted. As a (slightly) older puppy, Piper has many of her manners down. She’s mostly (but not completely) housetrained. She’s not a barky dog. She has no aggression. She is not destructive. She is good on car rides. She will happily sleep in the bed with you or on a dog bed. Piper would do equally well with a family (no small children), couple or single, in either a house or apartment. She’ll be an excellent pup for someone with time and love to give. Piper’s adoption fee is $275 and includes spay, all puppy shots & microchip. We have had her groomed. She is heartworm-negative and on heartworm medication. Note: We always respond first to inquiries that tell us something about your living situation (house, apartment, single, family, etc.) and why you want this dog. Be sure to include your phone number in your inquiry. We call inquiries that seem to be a good fit for the dog.

Story

Honey is a 2 year old, 8 lb Chihuahua mix. She has a beautiful honey-colored coat and white chest and paws. Of course, she has the typical Chihuahua "squint-eye", which is so cute and will make you smile. Honey is a little timid at first but warms up quickly. She loves to go outside and run and investigate, but due to her small size, she should not go outside alone. She loves mealtime and snacks, and she may try to sneak a bite of the other dogs' food. No aggression at all, but probably best to feed her in her crate or another room. Honey is making great progress on her potty training and has already learned to go to the door when she needs to go outside. She gets along just fine with other dogs, but she could also be an only, as long as she gets lots of attention from her people. We had had Rosey since she was just 4 months old. She was our youngest daughter’s dog until she left for college. She is 12 now but she has a lot of energy. She loves to lay around on dog pillows and the couch and spend time outside in the back yard. She also likes occasional walks. Rosey has 2 other dogs she has grown up with but she would fine alone as well and also good with small children . She is great with people.

Sage is a female Chihuahua/American Pit Bull Terrier mix, 6 1/2 years old and 17 pounds. We adopted her from Arlington Animal Services in Texas in 2019. She has lived with my mom in Texas for the last five years, but my mom recently moved to Savannah to live with me and Sage is not adjusting well with my two dogs. Sage is incredibly sweet and loving with us, but has become aggressively protective of us towards the other dogs. The dynamic has become very stressful for all of the dogs which is not fair to any of them. This is a very difficult decision, but we feel that Sage would benefit from a home more tailored to her needs where she could thrive - with someone who is experienced in handling a dog who needs training/aggression help, an only dog, no children, space to run around. She loves toys, laying out in the sun, napping, and sleeping under the covers in bed next to you. We love her very much and will keep her until we find the perfect home for her - willing to transport, too.

I have a new job and I cannot afford his care whilst I work away. He’s very easy dog, needs not allot just cuddles and dinner, he loves a long walk and is very sociable. He loves my neighbours cats and all other animals and kids, very happy easy dog. I’ve had him for 6 years and he’s never run away or messed in the house unless he was left far too long which would be my fault. I just want something better for him my job as a flight attendant doesn’t stretch to have him with a dog sitter and he deserves better than that. He eats kibble and small meat leftovers he loves pasta which isn’t ideal because he can quickly gain allot of weight so watch out for that. He’s a lap dog and if you let him he's there all day.

Lotus is a 9 year old, 6 lb Pomeranian mix. This handsome little senior Pom lived most of his life in horrible conditions, but he is resilient, and his joyous personality has come to light since his rescue. He loves other dogs and will do best in a home with another small dog to be his companion and playmate. He trusts other dogs before he trusts new people, so his adopters will have to be patient and let him show affection at his own pace. The exception is large dogs; Lotus does not like large dogs and probably had a bad experience with them in his past. Lotus is potty trained using a doggie door. He loves to play with his dog friends, but he will also come and shower his person with kisses once he feels comfortable and secure. He will make someone a very loyal and loving companion. Lotus qualifies for our Senior Dog discount of $125. He has heartworms because he was not kept on heartworm prevention, but Humane Tomorrow will pay for his treatment with our vet.
