Story
Cain is a 6 year old 14 pound chihuahua that thrives of attention. He's such a happy little guy especially when he's around children. He has never let the fact he's paralyzed from the waist down affect his demeanor or block his little ray of sunshine! He's also dog & cat  friendly and loves people!   Cain's favorite thing to do is burrow under a blanket as close to your body as he can but he doesnt mind sleeping in his own bed or play pen at night. In the mornings he is ready for some good neck scratches and attention from each child in his Foster Home. Food is the way to Cain's heart. He loves strawberries, apples, and egg with his medicine which he takes twice a day. He never appears to be in any pain and is so full of life and has so much love to give. He loves stroller rides, car rides and even days where he can just lay around with his favorite friend. Cain is learning to use the wheelchair but not yet a fan.  He prefers the lifting harness to be carried.  If you open the door to go outside, he will come flying down the hallway because he LOVES being outside!!!! The best part is how excited he gets, about food and people he loves. He does the "Cain Dance" where his ears go back, he smiles big while hopping around and spinning until you get on the floor and love on him. To meet Cain in person visit us at www.DSDA.org/adopt and submit our online application.   * Adoption Fees: Puppies (12 months and under) - $325  Dogs (over 12 months) - $275  Qualifications for Adoption:  No dog is alike and each dog has different requirements based on breed, age, energy level and life experiences. All of our dogs live in foster homes which allows us the opportunity to learn about their individual needs.  Must be 21 years or older with identification showing present address. Must have the knowledge and consent of all adults living in the household. Vet checks are required. All resident animals must be spayed/neutered, up to date on vaccinations and on monthly heartworm and flea/tick preventative (if applicable). Willingness and capacity to spend the time and money necessary to provide training, medical treatment and responsible care for a pet. Applicant is home more than not. ##1603915##

Irresistible Iridessa This cutie is 3 mos old now and she would love to find a forever family to grow with. She was named after the Disney light fairy, Iridessa. Like her namesake, Iridessa has a friendly, kind temperament. She's quiet & never demanding. She's a delight to be around. This super sweet little playful girl will adore anyone that shows her affection. 💕 Iridessa is a small, fawn colored, muscular chihuahua mix without the attitude. 😇 She has adorable big ears that might want to stand up soon! She loves to cuddle with other dogs, big & small. She has fun trying to catch flies or tiny bees in the yard. 😆🪰🐝 Some of her other favorite things include belly rubs, sun bathing & playing in water!🌞💦 Iridessa will likely only be 20-25 lbs when full grown. She's had her first & 2nd puppy shots so far & been dewormed. If you're considering adding a little family member, you should meet her! 💛please remember to copy-paste-SHARE this post so sweet Iridessa can find her forever home! Story
Grayson is a true "rescue story".  He has overcome so much and is still a little shy, but likes being held now and loves other dogs!  Grayson plays well and would do best with older children because of his tendency to be shy.  He needs a new life where he can be loved and cared for with lots of patience. He would do great with another dog to play with after he gets over his initial fear.  He loves to play!!   ##862339##

Story
Lopez is a sweet boy who recently lost his owners due to their health issues, and ended up in the shelter after being found wandering as a stray. Poor boy, his world fell apart!  He's doing great in his current foster home, loving the other dogs. He is wary of new people who come into the home but warms up fairly well. He just completed his obedience training, so we are happy to report that he is doing better with new people!Lopez is a fun and affectionate boy hoping his next "forever home" will last forever! His ideal home would be a calm place, perhaps with a retired couple or a person without kids. He is good with other dogs, but prefers to be the only dog or to have a play buddy who is bigger than him. Lopez is house trained and despite being a senior dog, he is full of energy and doesn't have any health Issues.  Meet the Adoption Criteria. Before you do anything else, make sure you meet our adoption criteria.
