They never asked to be in the situation humans put them in and they are just begging for a shred of comfort, that’s why we fight for every last one of them.  Ready for peace and love in 2024?  Why not adopt a new best friend to spend time with and love forever? Meet Peace!    I t is so hard to believe this sweet girl has not been swooped up for adoption! She is now one of our Diamond Dogs, which are the pets we highlight as the Diamond in the Ruff seeking their forever home. Her adoption fee has been reduced to $125. Scared and alone mother -to- be Peace was abandoned at the shelter  by her owner about to give birth any minute, she delivered four adorable babies four days later on November 25th, Compassion, Forgiveness, Empathy and Connection. The shelter put out a desperate plea for rescue so her babies could be in a warm loving home with their mother. A cold loud shelter is no place for a young family. LHS knew we had to help and stepped up to rescue this sweet mama and her family.     This adorable family has been amazing, and it is now time for them to find forever families to love them. Peace is a beautiful female Chihuahua/Terrier mix with soft fluffy black fur that weighs 19lbs. and is 3 years old.  She is house and crate trained and loves to sleep in her fluffy bed when she is taking a break from being an amazing mom. Peace is super smart and very  sweet; she gets along with all people and other dogs and is great on a leash and loves to ride in the car for adventures. She has weaned her precious babies and is ready to find a family of her very own to  love. Peace is looking for a family where she will be a member of the family forever. Charlie Chalupa is a Chi mix that weights 16lbs and almost 8 years old.  He was adopted 7 years ago and with the change in the family dynamics, they are traveling non-stop and do not have the time to give Charlie the care and attention he deserves. They reached out to LHS for assistance placing him in a home where he doesn't have to be in board a majority of the time.  He enjoys running around the backyard and playing fetch. He loves to play with his doggie friend and is respectful of kitties as well.  Snuggling in your lap and napping with you is really his favorite thing to do though!  He is crate trained and house broken. Charlie is up to date on vaccinations, current on rabies, has been neutered, micro chipped and is heartworm negative.  He is available to go to his new furever family now. Quite a dapper dude if I do say so myself! "Francis 'FORD' Coppola is looking for his very own home! Yes, he is this cute! But cute can sometimes be complicated... you know the type! He can be a love bucket... but takes time to warm up. He can be playful but takes time to warm up. He can be a great couch potato to watch your favorite movie with you but takes time to warm up. He came from a really bad hoarding situation and had no human interaction or direct human contact for probably the first part of his life (guessing he might have been a year old by the time I got him) so it takes him a long time to trust strangers; but it can be done! He needs a VERY patient new family. Probably wouldn't be good with little kids or a super busy household (too scary and too loud). He gets along nicely with my other dogs (proper introductions are an absolute must). I don't know how he would be as an only dog... if his new mom/dad was home most of the time and spent a lot of time with him, he might be ok.
