Story
Meet Dewey! Dewey is a 5-year-old apple head Chihuahua with a gentle soul and a heart full of love, despite the difficult start he’s had. He came into the shelter severely underweight after not being properly fed, but this tiny boy has proven he’s a resilient little fighter. Since coming into foster care, Dewey has been on a carefully monitored feeding plan and is already making great progress toward a healthy weight. He’s been seen by our vet and has a medical plan in place to support his recovery every step of the way. With proper care, good nutrition, and lots of love, Dewey is truly blossoming. What makes Dewey so special isn’t just his resilience—it’s his incredibly sweet and affectionate nature. He absolutely LOVES to snuggle and will happily curl up in your lap any chance he gets. He’s crate-trained, house-trained, and gets along well with other dogs. Even more endearing, Dewey seeks out affection from every person he meets—he just wants to love and be loved. Dewey is up to date on vaccines, has been treated for heartworms, and is microchipped. His neuter is covered by Legacy Humane Society—we’re just giving him a few weeks to gain a bit more weight before his surgery. Dewey is looking for a patient, compassionate family who will continue helping him regain his strength while giving him the forever home he’s always deserved. In return, he promises to be your most loyal little companion. If you think you might be the person to make that special connection and give Dewey the loving home he’s been waiting for, please complete an application at legacyhumanesociety.org, and his foster mom will be in touch. We do not have a facility to house the dogs in our program. They are all kept in foster homes until they are adopted. Therefore, if you are interested in adopting from LHS, please complete an online application at http://legacyhumanesociety.org/adoptfoster/adoption-application/ and we will contact you asap about the status of your application. Story
My name is Otter and my fosters love me a lotter! That's because I am such a snuggle bug and lap dog. I am learning so much in my foster home, like the doggie door, house training and crate training. I was scared of the other dogs at first, but now I am friends with everyone. I love to wrestle and play chase with small dogs my size, Usually I have a toy or nylabone nearby because I discovered just how awesome those things are! I usually hang out where ever you are and am a great office assistant for my foster mom who works from home. And the sweetest thing about me is I make myself at home in your lap whenever I get the chance. I probably need a little more leash training, but other than that, I am ready to find my furever home!

Spayed or Neutered,
Story
All Dallas Dog adoptable pets are spayed or neutered, microchipped, and up to date on vaccines upon finalizing adoption. Puppies adopted under the age of five months require a spay/neuter contract, and all dogs are required to be spayed by six months unless otherwise medically noted. Our dogs are currently on heartworm preventative. Puppies receive 3 to 4 rounds of vaccinations depending on their age, and adults receive two rounds unless they've been with us longer than a year, in which case they receive the booster update. You can complete an application or view all the adoptable pets on our website at www.dallasdog.org/adopt. Upon receiving your application, please allow us 2-3 business days to review and process.

Story
SWEET Skye... she came to us with a cherry eye and recently had surgery and is looking great! This angel is looking for a home that is a little more on the low key side that will be patient with her while she gets used to being with you. She so wants to love she's just afraid to have her heart broken again. Dumped in a shelter scared and alone. Her perfect match is out there; someone that wants to show her what trust and life are all about. All Dallas DogRRR adoptable pets are spayed or neutered, microchipped, and up to date on vaccines upon finalizing adoption. The standard minimum donation for puppies is $325 + 8.25% tax = $351.81, for dogs over 12 months the adoption fee is $225 + 8.25% tax = $243.66 and for our senior dogs 8 years and up is $100 + 8.25% tax = $108.25; this increase includes sales tax recently required by the State of Texas to collect. You can view all the adoptable pets and fill out an adoption application online on our website at http://dallasdogrrr.org. For more information, you can email adopt@dallasdogrrr.org. Story
Quite a dapper dude if I do say so myself! "Francis 'FORD' Coppola is looking for his very own home! Yes, he is this cute! But cute can sometimes be complicated... you know the type! He can be a love bucket... but takes time to warm up. He can be playful but takes time to warm up. He can be a great couch potato to watch your favorite movie with you but takes time to warm up. He came from a really bad hoarding situation and had no human interaction or direct human contact for probably the first part of his life (guessing he might have been a year old by the time I got him) so it takes him a long time to trust strangers; but it can be done! He needs a VERY patient new family. Probably wouldn't be good with little kids or a super busy household (too scary and too loud). He gets along nicely with my other dogs (proper introductions are an absolute must). I don't know how he would be as an only dog... if his new mom/dad was home most of the time and spent a lot of time with him, he might be ok. If you or someone you know might like to hear more about him... please reach out to me!! His special family is out there somewhere... I just know it!

Story
Ganso enjoys furry friends of all species, shapes, and sizes! This guy’s personality is truly starting to shine. He is a sweet, easy, and extremely quiet little guy. Not your normal chihuahua personality (maybe he thinks he’s one of the giant breeds now that he’s spent time with mine). A little timid at first but super cuddly once he warms up, and very cute now that his head wound is fully healed. Does well in kennel/puppy pen but I also occasionally leave him out to free roam as he is much better behaved than my personal dogs lol. Two dogs left behind after their owner was deported. They were loose for awhile and we are unable to find the other one. Ganso was picked up at the house and brought to safety but with a gash on his head. It is healing nicely. So sad to think of everything this sweet little guy has been through. He weighs 9.5 pounds and vet estimates he’s around 2-3 years old and overall in good health (also heartworm negative phew). Ganso is a great car companion and sits nicely in the passenger seat with you (no car sickness). He is very friendly with other dogs and has no stranger danger around my 125 pound dog. He has very social, playful, and appropriate dog behavior and greeting so far. He is curious about my cat (who is more than 2X his size) but mostly just observes from afar. Definitely is not overly focused on him. Seems to have very positive behavior around other animals and they are helping him feel more confident.

Story
This is my Chiweenie Winston who is 8 years old and has a calm, sweet nature with occasional bursts of playful energy. He absolutely loves children and enjoys being around people, making him a wonderful companion. He is affectionate, loyal, and gentle, and enjoys both relaxing and short play sessions. I am looking for a patient and loving home that understands small dogs and can continue reinforcing positive feeding habits, as he shows a small amount of food aggression. With consistency and care, he will thrive best in a calm, structured environment where he is treated like family.
