Story
I'm a little nervous right now and it's going to take me some time to feel comfortable. I know that once I'm settled in to my new home, I'll come out of my shell. Transitions can be a little stressful, but all I need is a little time and I'll have so much love to give. I'd love to meet you. Here's what I need in my new home: I can be shy in new spaces. I need a family who will go slow and help me come out of my shell.I would do best in a home with kids over age 14.I would like to meet any kids I might be living with.I need to meet any other dogs I might be living with.I'd do best in a detached home and would love a fenced-in yard. No apartments, please.I'm a special placement dog. My adoption process may take a little longer while our behavior team reviews all applications to find the home and family that is the best fit for my needs. Story
Spot & Brown are bonded brothers that have a sad story to tell. They are twelve years old and lived a life of neglect, they had to spend all these years outside day and night and were then thrown away like garbage when the couple who had them got a divorce. When our rescue friends in California heard about them and swang into action . They have been with us now for a few months and they are absolutely the best, completely housebroken, affectionate and super low maintenance, absolutely perfect for older people or young people who love to enjoy their lives with dogs but don’t have a ton of time to train. They are now here safe with us and truly enjoy the indoor life. They are so sweet and glued to each other, they love the attention they are now getting and love to snuggle. We would love to find a nice cozy and quiet home for them where they can live in peace. Both enjoy going on short walks. Please call us if you’re interested in adopting them.

Story
Marty is a strong believer that opinions are like chihuahuas; everyone should have at least one. We're pretty sure that's not how that saying goes, but Marty has been through a lot, so we'll give him this one. At just under 10 pounds, this 5 year old chihuahua mix is as small as his opinions are big. Sadly, his big opinions are why he ended up coming back to our rescue. Marty was found locally after having been hit by a car. His leg was badly damaged, so we took him in, neutered him and performed his amputation. Marty is a charming little guy and quickly wormed his way into an adoptive home. However, over time, his opinions about the world made it hard for his first adopter to keep him. Some examples: Marty hates squirrels. And birds. And cats. Since we can't change his mind about this, Marty needs a quiet home with a yard so he doesn't have to be walked and patient adopters willing to love him for all his quirks. We're big Marty fans here at Stumptown and find him sweet and funny. He’s come a long way in his current foster home and has gotten much more relaxed and less fearful. Marty is also now on Prozac, which has helped with his behavior, and this medication should be continued. Once he knows his people (this takes about 48 hours historically), he is cuddly and playful. Marty is great with other dogs, especially smaller ones, and likely would do really well with other calm dogs in his house. Marty is potty trained and not destructive. Marty has some boundaries, and can growl or snarl if they are crossed. He will chew people out if petted when he's not into it or if moved when he’s in a cozy spot. This makes Marty not a good pet for kids or first-time dog owners. He needs an adopter who can learn and respect his boundaries while enjoying his funny personality. We aren't asking an adoption fee for our Marty. His adoption comes with behavior support from a behaviorist who knows Marty well. We promise taking a chance on this little cutie will be worth it for the right adopter with the right sense of humor. Like all Stumpies, Marty is heartworm negative and current on his preventatives. Think you may have space for an adorable, tiny ball of opinions?

Mr Hankey is a very sweet and loving dog. He loves snuggle, getting petted and going for walks. He hasn't been around children and can be skittish at times in large groups but not aggressive. He would be great pet for a family or elderly person in need of companion.

Story
I am the dog who is always prepared for a marathon...as long as it is a MOVIE marathon! There is nothing I love more than a cozy, warm bed and some good company, which also seems to be other dogs! At the shelter, the nice humans have noticed I perk up every time another pup is around. I might be a bit nervous with you at first, especially if you don't have another pet, so a home with a fur friend to welcome me would be best! While befriending your resident pup, we can discuss our favorite foods while you give us pets and attention. I promise to provide you with lots of laid-back love and friendship if you save me a spot on the couch - or at least on a pet bed by you and your companion! Please come meet me!
