Story
Meet Merv!Merv is a 7-month-old neutered male Black Mouth Cur with a heart full of potential. This sweet boy is shy and not comfortable with strangers, so he'll need a very controlled environment and a guardian who is knowledgeable about dog body language.Once he warms up, Merv's playful personality shines-he's affectionate, goofy, and full of high-energy enthusiasm!Because he's still learning about the world, Merv can be a bit mischievous and may chew things he shouldn't. He'll thrive in a very active, experienced home that can provide plenty of exercise, structure, and reward-based training to help him grow into the wonderful dog he's meant to be.Merv would not be an appropriate fit for a home with children. He needs someone who is comfortable managing his environments and working with him to help him feel more comfortable and confident. If you're looking for a clever, loving young pup to guide and grow with, Merv might just be your perfect match. 💛📅 Meet & Greets by Appointment OnlyDue to his shy personality, we will only be doing meet and greets by appointment. Spayed or Neutered, Shots are up-to-date,
Story
Young Kia, born May 2025 weighs 13 pounds and likely will be a medium sized dog. Sadly despite her young age, she did not have an easy start. Very young she was dumped, and taken in by nearby residents – but they also didn’t care for her – leaving her full of fleas and ticks. Our sister sanctuary the SPCA PV got word that she was in need and managed to fit her into the shelter. Kia is an energetic pup, with a rough and tumble play style, which can be a lot for other dogs, so she might be a solo adventure dog in her home. She plays best with bigger dogs. She was tested with cats and wasn’t afraid, but also a bit over zealous, so might be too much of a party for many cats. Kia has been enjoying some pool time at the shelter, and has become a good swimmer. You can check out her pool adventures here: https://www.facebook.com/share/r/16rxiGaqvo/. In her brief stay in a home she was ok alone, loved to play, and didn’t chew things. Kia is now healthy and vaccinated and is looking for a real family to call her own. She has options to fly to BC or Alberta. If you think you might be a fit either as her forever home or as a foster, she’d love to hear from you at pvcaadoptions@gmail.com, or you can go straight to our application: https://forms.office.com/r/b1Fkq3u4zw (Please check your spam folder for our response).

Story
Meet Balto!Balto is a 3-year-old chocolate lab mix with a dash of mystery in his genes - we think maybe husky or heeler, but whatever the mix, it's pure magic. With his rich chocolate coat and bright, eager eyes, he's the kind of dog who makes you smile the moment you meet him. This sweet boy spent his life outdoors, but now he's discovering the joys of being an inside dog. He's learning all about routines, leash walks, and the art of chilling out with his humans. Every day is a new adventure, and Balto is proving he's not just smart - he's super smart, picking things up quickly and always wanting to please.Balto's personality is pure fun and exuberance. He's active and playful, ready for hikes, games, and adventure. He is still waiting to be neutered, so he's looking for a local foster-to-adopt home while he waits, one who can bring him back for the surgery. This means you can start building that bond right away and officially make him yours once he's ready.Life with Balto will never be boring. He is looking for a person who believes in him - someone who will celebrate his victories, teach him with kind positive reinforcement methods and help him blossom into the confident, happy companion he longs to be. He's a joyful, spirited boy who just needs his special people to show him how amazing life is. If you're looking for a dog who will keep you laughing, keep you moving, and keep your heart full, Balto is your guy. Apply to see if you're a match! Story
8 year old Yesenia is a lab x boxer looking for a home. Yesenia was surviving when kind strangers might feed her, but had to be a strong resilient girl. They suspect she may have been used for breeding and was subjected to having her tail docked. When they no longer wanted her they just left her to fend for herself. Yesenia reads people well and likes to be comforted by them. Yesenia prefers male dogs and isn’t a fan of cats. She is spayed and vaccinated, weighing a perfect 45 lbs. If you think you might be Yesenia’s second chance as either an adopter or foster, she’d love to hear from you by emailing us at pvcaadoptions@gmail.com or going direct to our application: https://forms.office.com/r/b1Fkq3u4zw (please check your junk mail in case we get redirected)
