Story
I bet the majority of us have always wanted a Steve in our life. And that Steve is most likely a super cool guy who you just want to be around because he emits goodness no matter the time of day. Steve the dog is no different than the Steve you know. He is a super cool guy, despite the past that should've been kinder to him. Steve is a loving, big soft fluff, who unlike many dogs of his breed, does not vocalize a lot. Steve is a smart, active, well-trained local dog that fell upon hard times and that resulted in a lot of fear and confusion. He was often tied with a short chain to a cinder block and left outside. The last time he had been outside for a walk was unknown. His world had become very very very small and Steve shut down. This naturally resulted in resource guarding and reactivity - which culminated in a bite when someone tried to remove food in a bowl from near him. The owners tried to surrender him to various groups but no one wanted him as a result of the bite and the only offer was euthanasia. Thankfully we at Mountainside gave Steve a chance to show us his true colors. We quickly saw that he was loving - but so scared and confused. Through months of training, exercise and monitored socialization, Steve has started to make friends and is becoming more himself as each day goes by. He has had the wonderful fortune of being in foster care and then being very loved by our boarding facility partners that have given him the incredible opportunity to meet new dogs and learn how to be a dog again. Steve is working hard on making progress through some of his issues and though he has come so far, he will need his person to continue to help him along his journey. At this time we think the best fit would be an adult only family that is home more often than not. He has lived with other dogs in the past but isn't ready for that yet. Steve is a stunning, kind boy who would be a perfect match for someone who is patient, and willing to put in the work to give him the best kind of life. At the end of the day, he's just Steve, a super cool guy, who deserves a super cool life.

Spayed or Neutered,
Story
Currently being fostered in Vancouver, BC. Introducing Bruno, an adorable and energetic 7/8-month mixed breed. While Bruno may be the smallest pup of his litter, he has shown that he has a big personality and an even bigger heart. Bruno is full of spunk and loves to play with other dogs and humans. He absolutely adores long walks on the trails and finding the most impossibly large stick to carry around proudly. After a long walk, Bruno will shower you with kisses and happily curl up in a big pile of blankets. As a young pup, he is still getting comfortable and confident meeting new people (especially when it's dark out) but he is eager to learn and even more eager to please. Bruno and his siblings were found on the streets by our rescue partners, and his parents are unknown. He is now neutered and up to date on his vaccines; ready to become a part of his forever family. We suspect he'll grow to be a medium-large dog (approx. 45-55lbs) who will do best in an active home with a family that will take him on lots of walks, adventures and provide him with the training to be his best dog self.

Story
This is sweet Autumn; an approximately 3 year old coonhound. Her incredible rescuer had heard about a local dog that hadn't left an apartment in over a year; possibly longer. And even more tragically, the owner passed away. How she survived, we don't know. She was completely skin and bones and terrified. Her rescuer acted immediately and did whatever it took to get her to safety - and for her we are so grateful. Autumn was extremely emaciated and terrified. There was a full bin of food in the apartment but it was untouched. Everything was new for her outside the apartment- confirming she really had not been exposed to much in a very long time.... Possibly most of her life. But this lovely pup now has a new lease on life and a second chance! She is only about 3 years old and has so much more life to live! She is already a completely different dog! From her rescuer and current foster: Autumn is slowly gaining healthy weight and learning what it is to be a dog again. She has already gained 6 lbs and is house trained. She loves to be with dogs and people and is super snuggly and friendly. She is already learning to be off leash trained for re-call in the trails with treats. She loves forest sniffing and running- would be a great hiking or mtn bike companion. Crate trained during the day. Disclaimer- not good with cats- wants to chase and we are just starting to work on better leash etiquette with a front attach harness. For now she is a puller. She will need to stay with us a bit longer for her spay and recovering and then will be ready for her forever home.

Story
Both of these sweet pups are fixed, healthy and ready for their forever homes. They are siblings and ready to each find their own families! Their litter was abandoned by the side of the road and they were quickly scooped up and brought into rescue. Marvin is goofy, loves belly rubs and sweet. He can be a little more timid out on walks and at the dog park but warms up quickly once he makes friends. His wiry old man face is one to become instantly smitten with. This cute cuddle bug will be sure to steal your heart. He would do well with a family, a couple or any combination thereof. Marvin loves his people and is a lap dog at heart. He would also do well in a family with another older dog. While he has not had any exposure to cats, with the right slow introductions he may learn to be ok with them. He is approximately 25 pounds. Malarkey is spunky, confident and also loves to cuddle. More of an anxious puller on walks but she's learning how to walk on leash and really enjoys playing with bigger dogs. She is often cuddled up with her brother or her humans. Those big eyes just melt your heart. Marlarkey would be great with another dog in the family and like her brother is unfamiliar with cats. She is approximately 20 pounds. As with all puppies, we STRONGLY encourage continued training, plenty of exercise and socialization with other animals and people. While these two are both relatively calm pups, they are still young and will need all of the above.
