Story
Meet Vega!Vega is a super lovey 7(ish) year old mix breed gal. Vega had a tough beginning to her life, and is now looking for a quiet, loving, stable home to enjoy her golden years. Vega is extremely food motivated, and is fun to work with and train! She knows 'sit', 'paw', and it currently learning 'down', and 'heel'. She is a large breed dog and can sometimes pull on-leash, especially when she sees a squirrel!Due to Vega's unstable history, she has some fear around new people, especially men. Vega will need slow introductions with adoption applicants! Vega is reactive to some dogs, and is highly prey driven, so a home where she is the only baby (animal or human) is required.Despite her stranger danger, Vega does warm up extremely quickly! She has a pillowy soft, white + black coat, and is endlessly devoted to her friends here at the shelter.Vega has SO much love to give somebody, and she deserves all the love in the world in return. Story
Meet Kola - a 2-year-old, medium-sized, ultra mixed-breed with a heart full of love and a playful, curious nature. She's not overly shy or overly bold - just a well-balanced pup who warms up quickly and enjoys being around people once she feels comfortable.Kola is sweet, smart, and fun-loving. She already knows how to sit, shake, and lay down, showing off her eagerness to learn and please. She gets along well with other dogs but isn't a fan of cats, so her forever home will need to be cat-free.Kola has a lot of energy, can be a bit jumpy and pulls hard on the leash, so she'll do best with an active guardian who can give her plenty of exercise and help with her leash manners. She thrives in an environment where she feels safe, loved, and engaged. If you're looking for a loyal, intelligent, and energetic companion to share your life with, Kola could be the perfect addition to your family. Story
Meet Stormy!Stormy came into our care through no fault of his own. While his early days weren't the easiest, he's settling in well here on the Sunshine Coast and showing us what a sweet and resilient pup he is.Stormy doesn't have a lot of prior training, but he's learning quickly-he's already working on "sit"! He's a social guy who loves meeting new people and making friends wherever he goes.He is a large and strong dog who can be a bit of a puller on leash, so he'll need an experienced and confident handler who can continue his training and keep walks safe and fun for everyone.Stormy is a big fan of car rides, toys, and sniffing everything in sight. On walks, his nose is glued to the ground-there's just too much to explore! He does get excitable, so he's best suited to a home where he's the only pet (and the only "baby," human or furry). That said, he lived with other dogs in his previous home and gets along well with one of our resident dogs here at the shelter. No cats or small animals, please! If you've got space in your heart (and on your couch) for a goofy, lovable guy like Stormy, we'd love for you to fill out an adoption application. Please follow these steps if interested in adoption!1. Story
I bet the majority of us have always wanted a Steve in our life. And that Steve is most likely a super cool guy who you just want to be around because he emits goodness no matter the time of day. Steve the dog is no different than the Steve you know. He is a super cool guy, despite the past that should've been kinder to him. Steve is a loving, big soft fluff, who unlike many dogs of his breed, does not vocalize a lot. Steve is a smart, active, well-trained local dog that fell upon hard times and that resulted in a lot of fear and confusion. He was often tied with a short chain to a cinder block and left outside. The last time he had been outside for a walk was unknown. His world had become very very very small and Steve shut down. This naturally resulted in resource guarding and reactivity - which culminated in a bite when someone tried to remove food in a bowl from near him. The owners tried to surrender him to various groups but no one wanted him as a result of the bite and the only offer was euthanasia. Thankfully we at Mountainside gave Steve a chance to show us his true colors. We quickly saw that he was loving - but so scared and confused. Through months of training, exercise and monitored socialization, Steve has started to make friends and is becoming more himself as each day goes by. He has had the wonderful fortune of being in foster care and then being very loved by our boarding facility partners that have given him the incredible opportunity to meet new dogs and learn how to be a dog again. Steve is working hard on making progress through some of his issues and though he has come so far, he will need his person to continue to help him along his journey. At this time we think the best fit would be an adult only family that is home more often than not. He has lived with other dogs in the past but isn't ready for that yet. No cats as well. Steve is a stunning, kind boy who would be a perfect match for someone who is patient, and willing to put in the work to give him the best kind of life. At the end of the day, he's just Steve, a super cool guy, who deserves a super cool life.

Story
Say hello to Rosie, a whirlwind of love, laughter, and classic Coonhound energy! This girl is all heart and high-octane charm-if you're looking for a companion who brings joy (and a little chaos) wherever she goes, Rosie might be your perfect match.Rosie is full of exuberance and pure hound spirit. She's very vocal and isn't shy about singing the songs of her people-whether she's excited, curious, or just wants to make sure the neighbors know she's fabulous. Her personality is as big as her bark! She's also a bit of a whirling dervish-always in motion, always excited, and always ready to throw herself into whatever's happening. She absolutely adores people and gives love with her whole body, usually at full speed.Rosie is still learning the ropes when it comes to potty training, so she'll need a patient adopter willing to help her keep up the good work with consistency and care. She's a smart cookie, just a little distracted by how exciting the world is!Because of her athleticism (yes, she can and will jump a fence), Rosie will need a very secure yard or outdoor space to keep her safe. She'll thrive with someone who can keep her physically and mentally engaged and who understands the quirks and joys of a true hound.
