Good with cats, Needs special attention, Spayed or Neutered,
Story
Meet Ellie! At almost three years old, this sweet girl is looking for a special home. Ellie is a gorgeous bloodhound who carries all the hallmarks of the breed. Weighing in at 85 pounds, she is a big girl. She walks relatively well on leash but if she catches the scent of something good, she can get a bit side tracked! This wrinkly girl also displays other classic bloodhound traits such as her high energy level, strong prey drive, and love of "singing". As such Ellie will not be suitable for a family with small children, living in a shared building or with close neighbours, and/or free ranging small animals. Although friendly with other dogs, Ellie is prone to resource guarding with her canine cohorts and so would do best as the only dog in the home. She does do well with dog savvy cats though!Ellie has suffered from extreme allergies for most of her short life, causing terrible ear and eye infections. Because of this, she will need to be on medication and a special diet to manage that for life. She is smart and very food motivated making positive reinforcement training techniques a blast! This velvety lady makes her feelings known by singing you the song of her people, which is why neighbours in close proximity will make a home incompatible for Ellie. Her future guardians would benefit from consulting with an AnimalKind trainer.Ellie's ideal home would be with guardians who have experience with strong, high prey drive dogs (such as large scent hounds/rhodesian ridgebacks/catahoulas/other large game hunting breeds) and who can give her all the snuggles she requires. Ellie is currently in a foster home while she awaits her fur-ever home. If you are interested in meeting Ellie, please fill out the application belowhttps://spca.bc.ca/survey/dog-adoption-application-cowichan/ Primary Color: Black Secondary Color: Chestnut Weight: 40.8 Age: 2yrs 10mths 2wks

Story
Meet Pippa! Pippa is very social and knows basic commands. She loves all people and will want to say hi to everyone. Pippa looooves belly rubs and will flop over to get some every time. Pippa is not suitable to live with livestock or cats as she does have some prey drive typical to her breed. While she sometimes can make dog friends, she may be best being the only dog in the home. If your heart reaches out to sweet Pippa and you are looking for a hiking buddy and an all around great companion then Pippa may be the right fit for you! She loves to hang out and take naps on the couch or if she gets too warn then on the nice cold floor. Pippa can be left home alone during the work day. She would rather of course go with you but she can be left alone. She loves to get her doggie ice cream (frozen Kong) to keep her busy. Story
Meet Simon! This affectionate, energetic, love bug is waiting for his forever home! Simon is looking for an active family who are willing to work on some training with him. He absolutely loves getting out for walks and adventures, but does need to learn some basic leash manners and recall. Simon is very food motivated and eager to learn, he's been working on 'sit' and 'lie down', and would thrive in an environment where he can keep his brain active! This love bug absolutely adores cuddles and gets really excited when he gets to see his human friends. He also shows interest in meeting other dogs, so would likely be okay in a home with a canine companion, after slow and cautious introductions. Simon would make an exceptional companion and would fit right in with a busy household where he can tag along on adventures! PLEASE NOTE: This dog is located on the Sunshine Coast and travel via BC Ferries is required to adopt. Appointments are preferred to adopt one of our animals.
