Story
Say hello to Rosie, a whirlwind of love, laughter, and classic Coonhound energy! This girl is all heart and high-octane charm-if you're looking for a companion who brings joy (and a little chaos) wherever she goes, Rosie might be your perfect match.Rosie is full of exuberance and pure hound spirit. She's very vocal and isn't shy about singing the songs of her people-whether she's excited, curious, or just wants to make sure the neighbors know she's fabulous. Her personality is as big as her bark! She's also a bit of a whirling dervish-always in motion, always excited, and always ready to throw herself into whatever's happening. She absolutely adores people and gives love with her whole body, usually at full speed.Rosie is still learning the ropes when it comes to potty training, so she'll need a patient adopter willing to help her keep up the good work with consistency and care. She's a smart cookie, just a little distracted by how exciting the world is!Because of her athleticism (yes, she can and will jump a fence), Rosie will need a very secure yard or outdoor space to keep her safe. She'll thrive with someone who can keep her physically and mentally engaged and who understands the quirks and joys of a true hound. Story
Beautiful husky girl Chiquita, born April 2023, is looking for a home. She is approximately 41 lbs. Her mum and littermates were often seen wandering in the area of the SPCA PV sanctuary and staff and volunteers saw them in deteriorating condition due to a diet heavy on garbage and took them in to give them the care they needed. After she got refuge in the sanctuary, she lived through a hurricane which heavily damaged the shelter, and she had temporary refuge in a home that unfortunately had a landlord that didn't allow dogs.. but in that time, she learned what a home is and what it is meant to be loved. Chiquita is an energetic girl so she’d love a yard with some space to burn off some zoomies but was in a foster home in an apartment. She loves the beach. Her foster mom just loved her, described her as a fast learner, and a great cuddler. She has learned basic commands - sit, come, waits to eat her food. She isn't destructive in the home and did well in the car. She is selective with other dogs, and can be reactive, and would squabble with her siblings. Kids make her nervous so she'd prefer a quiet adult home where she can learn more about the world. Chiquita would be best in a home without cats as she shows high prey drive. Video of Chiquita with her shelter friends: https://www.facebook.com/spcapv/videos/1401202434079126 She is now healthy and vaccinated. If you think you might be her happy home, please contact us at pvcaadoptions@gmail.com for more information. Chiquita is currently in Mexico but can fly to a Canadian home near you! Story
8 year old Yesenia is a lab x boxer looking for a home. Yesenia was surviving when kind strangers might feed her, but had to be a strong resilient girl. They suspect she may have been used for breeding and was subjected to having her tail docked. When they no longer wanted her they just left her to fend for herself. Yesenia reads people well and likes to be comforted by them. Yesenia prefers male dogs and isn’t a fan of cats. She is spayed and vaccinated, weighing a perfect 45 lbs. If you think you might be Yesenia’s second chance as either an adopter or foster, she’d love to hear from you by emailing us at pvcaadoptions@gmail.com or going direct to our application: https://forms.office.com/r/b1Fkq3u4zw (please check your junk mail in case we get redirected)

Story
3 year old Lola is looking for a home. This young lady was spending her days living near a riverbank carrying a litter of puppies. A kind woman would come to bring her food to help her survive. The woman couldn’t come for a few days due to illness and when she arrived she had had her puppies. Lola and the puppies that stayed with her were taken in by the SPCA PV with great relief. Lola has had a tough life. Lola has been grateful to recover and rest at the shelter but would love a family of her own. Lola likes people, though waits to make sure they are safe. She prefer male dogs, and is not fond of cats. She is spayed and vaccinated, weighing a perfect 40 lbs. If you think you might be Lola’s second chance either as a foster or adopter, she’d love to hear from you by emailing us at pvcaadoptions@gmail.com or going direct to our application: https://forms.office.com/r/b1Fkq3u4zw. Story
Sweet Cleo is looking for a home. This 2 year old mixed breed is a shelter sweetheart rescued by the SPCA PV in Mexico after having to survive on her own wandering the streets for food, though likely had a home that dumped in. Cleo is good with dogs, and has been sharing space with a litter of puppies who she kindly mothers. She is friendly and sweet with cats. Cleo walks well on leash and is a smart girl looking to please. Cleo has a bit of a limp from what appears to be an old injury in her hip, so we know she hasn't had an easy life, but she is going to make someone very happy with her loyalty and affection. Cleo is spayed and vaccinated. Cleo has a lift to Vancouver in June, and also has a ride offer to Nelson and possibly Vancouver island (currently confirming her foster spot). If interested in adopting or fostering this lovely girl, email us at pvcaadoptions@gmail.com, pvcaadoptions@pvcaanimalrescue.onmicrosoft.com, or go direct to our application: https://forms.office.com/r/b1Fkq3u4zw. Story
Meet Kola - a 2-year-old, medium-sized, ultra mixed-breed with a heart full of love and a playful, curious nature. She's not overly shy or overly bold - just a well-balanced pup who warms up quickly and enjoys being around people once she feels comfortable.Kola is sweet, smart, and fun-loving. She already knows how to sit, shake, and lay down, showing off her eagerness to learn and please. She gets along well with other dogs but isn't a fan of cats, so her forever home will need to be cat-free.Kola has a lot of energy, can be a bit jumpy and pulls hard on the leash, so she'll do best with an active guardian who can give her plenty of exercise and help with her leash manners.
