Story
Young Kia, born May 2025 weighs 13 pounds and likely will be a medium sized dog. Sadly despite her young age, she did not have an easy start. Very young she was dumped, and taken in by nearby residents – but they also didn’t care for her – leaving her full of fleas and ticks. Our sister sanctuary the SPCA PV got word that she was in need and managed to fit her into the shelter. Kia is an energetic pup, with a rough and tumble play style, which can be a lot for other dogs, so she might be a solo adventure dog in her home. She plays best with bigger dogs. She was tested with cats and wasn’t afraid, but also a bit over zealous, so might be too much of a party for many cats. Kia has been enjoying some pool time at the shelter, and has become a good swimmer. You can check out her pool adventures here: https://www.facebook.com/share/r/16rxiGaqvo/. In her brief stay in a home she was ok alone, loved to play, and didn’t chew things. Kia is now healthy and vaccinated and is looking for a real family to call her own. She has options to fly to BC or Alberta. If you think you might be a fit either as her forever home or as a foster, she’d love to hear from you at pvcaadoptions@gmail.com, or you can go straight to our application: https://forms.office.com/r/b1Fkq3u4zw (Please check your spam folder for our response).

Story
Introducing the sleek lean (and stunning!) Jimmina. She is a one year old lab x whippet who weighs in at 31 lbs and looks like a leaner smaller version of a lab. She has a lovely temperament with joy in her stride. She is very friendly with people. She is good with other dogs and enjoys playtime with her friends, though naturally is scared of the territorial dogs outside the shelter who come out with menace. Jimmina is also good with cats. She will wow you with her speedy zoomies, only to run back to your feet for cuddles. She’d be a great adventure dog, but also very calm and quiet at home. She is smart, and eager to please. She is medium energy and a quiet girl who asks for little outside of some snuggles. Her youth and loving heart belongs with a loving family of her very own. If you think you might be her chance at a family, or foster along the way, we’d love to hear from you at pvcaadoptions@gmail.com. Please check your junk mail for our response.

Story
Born June 2025, Berna and her siblings were puppies on the street far too young. Thankfully a kind stranger took them in for a few weeks while they waited for space to open up at the SPCA PV sanctuary in Puerto Vallarta. While we’re so happy she’s off the street, she belongs in a home with a family who loves her, Berna is the sleek lean black pup in the litter. Cutest little one ear up and one floppy going on catches everyone's attention. We think she’ll grow to about 30 lbs full grown. She is a mixed breed which may include terrier and pointer, but really she’s her own unique special girl. Berna is curious about cats, and wags her tail when she visits them. If you think you might be a good fit for this little star, either as her happy ever after, or as a foster along the way, we’d love to hear from you at pvcaadoptions@gmail.com. Please check your junk mail for our response. Check out more here: https://www.instagram.com/reel/DRGm5yHEbfe/?utm_source=ig_web_copy_link&igsh=NTc4MTIwNjQ2YQ==

Pimienta passed her cat test – she was curious and cautious. As Pimienta has spent her early life in sanctuary she prefers walking with other dogs and might like a dog companion to show her the way. Story
Patricio is the absolute perfect love bug. He has a sweet gentle disposition – he is lovely with everyone he meets. He has a joyful spring in his step when he sees people, and he also happily finds joy in any toy that might come his way, finding his own happiness in the little things. He likes to gather shelter toys and put them near his bed, revelling in the joy of having anything good come his way. Patricio is about 4 years old. He is good with dogs and cats, and walks nicely on leash (including past cows, chickens, bikes and trucks). Patricio is a lovely and compact 38 lbs. His quiet happiness also means he’s not much of a barker – rather he watches the world happily waiting for his next chance at affection. He likes to crawl into your soul for cuddles. Patricio is a distemper survivor who has a slight tic in his jaw as a result. This brave boy not only survived distemper, but hasn’t let that impact his happiness. Whoever gets this little man is very lucky. Patricio is medium energy – happy to accompany you whenever and wherever. Check him out here: https://www.instagram.com/pvcaanimalrescue/reel/DRTWFowkZ0P/ If you think you might be his chance at a family, or foster along the way, we’d love to hear from you at pvcaadoptions@gmail.com. Story
Meet Balto!Balto is a 3-year-old chocolate lab mix with a dash of mystery in his genes - we think maybe husky or heeler, but whatever the mix, it's pure magic. With his rich chocolate coat and bright, eager eyes, he's the kind of dog who makes you smile the moment you meet him. This sweet boy spent his life outdoors, but now he's discovering the joys of being an inside dog. He's learning all about routines, leash walks, and the art of chilling out with his humans. Every day is a new adventure, and Balto is proving he's not just smart - he's super smart, picking things up quickly and always wanting to please.Balto's personality is pure fun and exuberance. He's active and playful, ready for hikes, games, and adventure. He is still waiting to be neutered, so he's looking for a local foster-to-adopt home while he waits, one who can bring him back for the surgery. This means you can start building that bond right away and officially make him yours once he's ready.Life with Balto will never be boring. He is looking for a person who believes in him - someone who will celebrate his victories, teach him with kind positive reinforcement methods and help him blossom into the confident, happy companion he longs to be. He's a joyful, spirited boy who just needs his special people to show him how amazing life is. If you're looking for a dog who will keep you laughing, keep you moving, and keep your heart full, Balto is your guy. Apply to see if you're a match!
