Story
Smalls is a really good boy. Just experiencing littermate syndrome with his brother. He does well with female large breed dogs. Hes house, potty, kennel trained. Still needs a little work with leash training but does wonderful on a gentle leash lead. He’s very calm, can be quite talkative especially right when he wakes up. Hes kind of independent so hes not clingy but will come to you when he needs cuddles and loves kisses all over his head. Hes seriously such a good boy. It breaks my heart I’m having to rehome him but im concerned for both of their safety at this point. He will be available after December 3rd. I will not rehome him until I get him neutered on that day.

Story
Stella is a lover and a big lap dog. She needs all the love and attention at all times. She gets along with other dogs when at a dog park or on walks but our dogs don’t always get along with her. It’s recommended that she’s an only dog in the home. When it comes to her food she is definitely not a sharer. She is also good with kids, but she’s an attention hog. So when you get on the ground to play with kids or play on the floor she will be coming right over to sit in your lap.

Story
Cattle Dog mix, female puppyDottie is a 5 month old, cattle dog mix. We estimate she’ll be between 35-40lbs at maturity. Dottie made her way into a foster home last week for a little extra TLC and exposure to the outside world. She’s always been the more introverted and stoic pup among her siblings - a wallflower and observer. This isn’t a mix with water, instant kinda love. It’s slow and steady and will require ingredients such as patience, time, routine, structure, safety and security. In exchange, you’ll have the most loyal, loving bond that will last a lifetime. Dottie loves her walks and there’s no quicker way to this girl’s heart than through the leash. People pay big money to trainers and invest a lot of time trying to get a dog to walk the way Dottie does on lead. A good loose leash walk is underestimated. She does it naturally. Dottie is also incredibly affectionate once she lets you in to her world. Couch snuggles, the best! Her coat is super soft and she nuzzles her way right into the crook of your arm or leg. She so badly wants to connect with a person. It took 48 hours for her to trust her foster but now they are inseparable. We know she’s capable of building this with anyone that vows to be her pack leader. Sadly, she was thrust into survival mode from too young of an age - left to fend for herself with no guidance, no protector. You can see the wave of relief wash over her when she realizes she’s not responsible for that anymore. Dottie would thrive in a home with another balanced dog to continue showing her the ropes. She does need a minute to warm up to new dogs but with a proper introduction she will pack up and be better off because of it. Dottie is microchipped, spayed, and on a vaccine schedule. She is located in Arroyo Grande, CA. More photos and updates: https://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=a.1582442099384105&type=3 Interested in Dottie? Story
Mixed breed puppy, maleAtlas!  One of our “valley special” because  he is comprised of almost every breed under the sun if we had to guess, so someone will get a lot of genetic diversity and the best of ALL worlds when it comes to temperament.  Atlas is 5 months old (as of 4/1/25), sweet and handsome as ever. He is playful, alert, and has pretty decent recall already. He can be a bit shy at first, but is quick to warm up.     Atlas will be microchipped, on a vaccine schedule, and can go home on neuter contracts.   Atlas is located in Tranquility, CA   More photos and updates:  https://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=a.1345398709755113&type=3   Interested in Atlas ?   Please complete an application at: http://bit.ly/CCHDR_App AppApril 9, 2025, 6:23 pm

Story
Cattle Dog mix, adult femaleLike a fine wine, Olivia isn’t meant to be rushed. At first pour, she may seem a little reserved, quietly taking in the room, unsure of unfamiliar hands and new surroundings. But give her time to breathe — space, patience, and gentle consistency — and something beautiful happens. Slowly, her true flavors emerge: a soft gaze that lingers a little longer, a tail that starts to wag just for you, a loyal presence that chooses your side once trust is earned. This is a dog for someone who understands that the best things in life aren’t instant — they’re cultivated. Olivia isn’t flashy or overwhelming. She’s nuanced. Thoughtful. Deeply devoted once opened up. The kind of companion who forms a bond that feels rare because you earned it together. If you’re the type of person who appreciates quiet moments, subtle joy, and love that grows richer with time, Olivia may be your perfect vintage. Olivia is a 2 year old, border collie mix located in Templeton, CA. She is microchipped, spayed, and UTD on vaccines.   More photos and updates:  https://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=a.1589146862046962&type=3   Interested in Olivia?  Please complete an application at: http://bit.ly/CCHDR_App  December 13, 2025, 4:45 pm

Story
Cattle Dog mix male puppy  Welcome George from Kern County Animal Services. By shelter standards, this guy was in for a while. Someone must have liked him and kept him alive long enough for us to scoop him to safety. He’s in foster with an awesome family, ranch style. So far here is what they report: “George is super cute, playful and adventurous. He’s snuggly and loves people. He plays well with other dogs but not quite ready to share food yet. He’s got super cool coat coloring and at 29lbs, is the perfect size. So far he’s been pretty quiet. He’s going to make someone a great dog!” George is a 10-12 month old cattle dog mix. He is microchipped, UTD on vaccines, and will be getting scheduled for a neuter shortly.
