Story
Hi, I am Onxy! My daddy passed away unexpectedly, and my mom became ill and couldn’t take care of us. You see, my sister and I were adopted as puppies, and we were my dad’s whole world. With health issues of her own, our mom gave us to my dad’s daughter. We lived in a cage, and every few days she would come out to fill our food bowl, but because she was on oxygen, she couldn’t do much else. After dad’s passing, we were taken from North Carolina to Missouri in hopes of a better life. Our new mom took us to the vet, got my sister treated for heartworms (she feels much better now!), and made sure I was up to date on my shots. You see, she promised that if she couldn’t keep us, she would find someone who could. We have a very high prey drive and managed to break out of—and into—a couple of fences because we wanted to play with the chickens. Unfortunately, it didn’t end well. We are really good dogs and listen both on and off a leash; we just can’t be trusted on a farm with small fowl.

Story
Meet Mitzy Mitzy is a 12 year old Shih Tzu with plenty of pep in her step! Don’t let her age (or her partial blindness) fool you, this spunky little lady is always ready for an adventure. She lives for walks and would happily stroll the neighborhood for as long as you’ll let her. She also loves a good game of tug with her toys! Mitzy isn’t your typical lap dog she’s not much of a cuddler—but she makes up for it with her playful spirit and adventurous personality. She’s housebroken, and her foster says she’ll even tuck herself into her kennel for a nap when she’s ready for a little downtime. Mitzy does require some extra TLC: she takes Apoquel daily for her skin and needs eye ointment twice a day to keep her eyes healthy. Because of her vision and her love of exploring, we do require a fenced in backyard for her. If you’re looking for a spirited, loyal walking buddy who will keep you smiling, Mitzy is your girl! Apply to meet Mitzy! https://unchainedmelodies.org/adopt/ All UMDR dogs are up to date on vaccinations and preventatives, spayed/neutered and microchipped. *No Out of State Adoptions *No electric fencing

Story
If you’re looking for a loyal, loving companion with a one-of-a-kind look, Gabby might be your perfect match. Her golden eyes shine just as brightly as her spirit, and her unique tiger-striped coat makes her truly stand out. Gabby is the best of both worlds—she’s always up for an adventure, whether it’s a walk in nature or a car ride to anywhere, but she’s just as happy curling up with you for a snuggle. She may not technically be a lap dog, but don’t tell her that! Her journey hasn’t been the easiest. She was abandoned alongside another dog, left to fend for herself, and later endured heartworm treatment. But through it all, she never lost her sweet, happy personality (even if the treatment did make her a little hangry at times). Gabby is wonderful with kids, plays well with other dogs, and is both housebroken and crate-trained. She walks nicely on a leash and knows how to sit—we’re working on adding more tricks to her repertoire! At about 75 pounds, she’s working her way back to a healthier weight after her treatments. We haven’t had the chance to see how she does with cats yet. If you’re searching for a beautiful, devoted companion who will always be by your side, Gabby would love to meet you! https://unchainedmelodies.org/adopt/

Story
Meet Tessa! 1 year old Australian Cattle Dog mix Tessa is the total package of brains, beauty, and bounce! This sweet and spunky girl is full of personality and ready to find a home that matches her active lifestyle. She’s crate trained, walks well on a leash, and is a social butterfly with people and other dogs. Tessa does love to play with canine friends but is still learning how to respect their boundaries continued guidance will help her thrive! She hasn’t been tested with cats yet. Tessa is an energetic girl who loves to fetch and she loves the tether tug pole in our play yard! We will even throw in a free tether tug pole for her forever family! She’d do best in a home that can provide her with plenty of mental and physical enrichment. A fenced yard is ideal to help her safely zoom and play. Tessa’s intelligence and energy are a winning combo—but they mean she’ll need a home committed to giving her structure and outlets. In return, she’ll give you her big heart and endless tail wags. *Due to Tessa's herding breed, and energy level we do not recommend small children Apply to meet Tessa! https://unchainedmelodies.org/adopt/ All UMDR dogs are up to date on vaccinations and preventatives, spayed/neutered and microchipped. *No Out of State Adoptions *No electric fencing
