Story
Man dumped all the male puppies from a litter and we took one from a friend to help out. Under our care he has been to the vet to receive check-up, shots (list upon request), and deworming/flea and tick treatment. Crate trained. He is around children and other pets (cats and dogs) and is so good with all of them. He is a very sweet and snuggly little guy. We spent several days with my sister who has a Boston Terrier puppy and Hatchet was amazing with him. We wish we could keep him but it is not possible at this time. He needs a loving home with connection and space to explore.

And DNA shows she is 100% border collie!!  She wants nothing more in life than to play frisbee, fetch, and spend time romping and wresting with her dog buddies. Willow has a high energy level, a medium herding drive, and is eager to please. She is treat and praise motivated and knows basic commands. She is potty trained and crate trained. Her ideal home would have a 5 foot fence, a playful housemate and a soft couch. She adores children and strangers. Willow would do well as a running companion and is a natural at agility and obedience. She is ready for adventure and is always eager to learn. Willow was born April 2022 in a rural setting and was penned without much human interaction for her first 6 months of life. In October 2022, she was purchased and this owner, their partner and their resident Border Collies changed her from a terrified, constantly hiding puppy to a well socialized outgoing adult. Willow came into MO-Kan’s care March 2023 and is happily living with playful canine housemates including elderly dog and a puppy.   Read about Smooth Coat Border Collies>>>  Willow is being fostered in the Kansas City, MO area. Click here to watch a video of Willow (2023).Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.April 16, 2024, 9:45 am

As a young girl, at about 1 year old, I love being with my people.  I’m a smaller girl at 38 lbs but I have a huge personality!   I think my smooth coated border collie mix cute face and curly tail and long legs makes me adorable and perfect for my career goal as a female movie star or athlete.  Jennifer Garner, I’m looking at you!  I am a good girl who is housebroken and crate-trained.  I’ve been spayed and I’m healthy. Some of my favorite things are to zoom and bounce like a kangaroo around the yard. I love my Kongs, treats, tugs and stuffed toys although I have been know to check out their insides.  I do have an off-switch and enjoy watching agility with my foster Mom on television.  I can walk on a leash but will need a reminders from time to time to keep the leash loose. I do love a good car ride and my foster Mom makes me wear a seat belt so I can get a pup cup! Being young, my foster Mom has kept me in a crate when she is gone since I’m inquisitive. I know come, sit, down, wait, leave it, no, kennel, and good look.  Good look is great for when I get side-tracked by other dogs and people and want to bark!  Because my early months were spent with an elderly couple, I didn’t get out much.  My foster mom says people and other dogs are good, but I’m not always sure she is right so I’m a little cautious about meeting new people and dogs.  I haven’t meet any cats, so I’m not sure what those are.  I do prefer being with women. My wish list would include a fenced backyard where I can run when I get zoomies and play ball and frisbee with my people. I would be good as an only dog or with a submissive dog sibling. Someone who is knowledgeable about border collies would be a plus and who provides positive reinforcement and consistent routine.  Who doesn’t love a good routine?  Taffy is being fostered in the Wichita, KS area.Click here to watch a video of Taffy.Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.April 16, 2024, 9:45 am

Story
Rufus is a high energy dog who is looking for a new home where he can get lots of play time and exercise! He gets along great with his foster brothers and loves to wrestle, play tug and do zoomies in the yard with his buddies. He could definitely live as an only dog, but would love a home with another active dog who could help burn off some of his energy! Rufus has had successful interactions with older children, but his energy level and love of face kisses might be overwhelming for little ones or kids who aren't comfortable with big, goofy dogs. Roofie is a smart boy who knows all of the basic commands. He has a bit of anxiety and is working hard to learn things like calmly leaving his crate after being left alone and not jumping on people. He gets better and better every day and would benefit from continued training in his new home to help him with the adjustment. His active mind and athletic ability would make him an awesome candidate for activities like agility training. This handsome doofus is such a sweetie and loves attention. He's a big boy, but he wants to be a lap dog, and he spends every night curled up in bed as close as he can to his foster mom Zeus has been diagnosed with a congenital defect called pulmonic stenosis (PS). PS is a condition in which the pulmonic valve is abnormally formed and creating an obstruction of blood flow from the right heart to the lungs. This then causes the right heart to have to work harder to push blood to the lungs, which in turn causes enlargement and thickening of the right heart. Fortunately, Rufus has had a successful surgery for this condition. It is recommended he have yearly follow up visits to monitor his heart. He is also on medication for his heart which will likely need to be continued.

You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. If interested in adopting, read about our Adoption Process and complete an Adoption Application on the Mo-Kan website.  A Mo-Kan application must be filled out to begin the process.   See Walter's updated bio!!!* * *Update* * * Walter is such a quick study!  He's learned sit, down and shake in very short sessions.  Now we're really focusing on socializing so he can learn to be as confident and affectionate away from home as he is here.  Walter also showed interest in the agility equipment so we've started having some fun with that too.  He really is a great combination of border collie energy and playfulness but has that nice "off switch" where he will lay on a bed and entertain himself with toys and chew bones or snuggle on the sofa with you.  He's around 10 months old now and has grown some and filled out but is still under 30 pounds and a nice compact size boy.  We have learned he is very fearful of small children so he will need a home with older or no children. * * * * * * * *  Walter is a smooth coat border collie. He is such a sweet, smart playful little guy.  He is both food and toy driven and a quick learner.  Walter came from a horrible neglect/hoarding situation so he can be a little shy at first but after a short amount of time he will be in your lap and all snuggles.  Overall,  he has amazed us with how adaptable and easy going he has been considering his background.  Currently he weighs about 25 pounds and will probably stay on the smaller side but has started catching up now that he's getting proper care and nutrition.  He likes all toys but balls and plush squeaky toys are his favorite.   Walter really enjoys playing with other dogs and we have found they make him more comfortable in new situations,  so having at least one canine companion would be ideal for him.  He ignores the kitties in his foster home so feline companions are optional.   Walter has a very good recall and sleeps quietly in his kennel. He's made lots of progress on house training and is working on leash training currently.  If you're looking for an active dog that also enjoys snuggling on the sofa, Walter's you're boy! Walter is being fostered in the St. Louis, MO area.Click here to watch a video of Walter.Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.April 16, 2024, 9:45 am
