Story
Marco is a sweet, precious boy that has been waiting since July 2024 for his forever home. It’s no fault of his own, too many times black dogs just get overlooked. He is a wonderful boy! He is estimated to be 2-3 years old so he has a lot of energy. He loves to run! He is also smart and loves to learn new things. Marco would probably love an agility course in his back yard! He would probably love to go hiking and run on the beach. He’s energetic, sweet, and loves to play. Marco is past ready for his new family. He is Heartworm Negative and up to date on core vaccines. Marco has also been neutered and microchipped. He weighs about 53 pounds. Please look past the fact that he doesn’t have fancy coloring, he doesn’t have blue eyes or one ear that sticks up. What he has is HEART, a big heart bursting with so much love that it can’t be contained. The only thing he doesn’t have is YOU.

Story
Sweet Jazzie has been with us since August 12, 2024! This is not the kind of milestone we want! This red and white Pit mix is such a precious girl! She is the perfect size; she only weighs about 30 pounds. Staff at the boarding facility said Jazzie is very calm and mild. She did go to a foster for a while, but is back in boarding. She will get small bursts of energy now and then, but can also just hang out and chill. She absolutely loves to sniff. That’s probably her favorite hobby, along with playing with toys. She loves chew toys but doesn’t tear them up. She keeps a very clean kennel. Jazzie loves other dogs and people, too! Jazzie does great on a leash. She doesn’t require much entertainment, just likes treats and affection. She can be playful but is also very mellow. Jazzie's perfect home would be a quiet one. Dogs who have spent a long time in boarding are simply not used to all the sights and sounds we live with today. Televisions, phones, kids with video games, people talking constantly... it's sensory overload for a dog like Jazzie! She also needs a fenced-in yard. She is estimated to be 3 years old. Unfortunately, our sweet little Jazzie is heartworm positive. Please do not let that discourage you, heartworms can be treated

Story
Meet Maisie, everyone! She's a marvelous girl! Maisie is approximately 2-3 years old and weighs 50-60 pounds. Sweet Maisie has not been to the vet yet, so we don't know her heartworm status. Maisie loves to play and loves people! When she is out of her kennel, Maisie doesn't show much interest in the other dogs, but she has gone up to say hi to Kobey a few times. Maisie does very well on the leash, keeps her kennel clean, and seems to be house trained. The volunteers described her as very sweet and playful. ! Whether it's playing, running around, or hanging out snuggling in your lap; with Maisie, you will have love that is always loyal!

Meet sweet Caramel. She is a young girl and full of energy. We think she would do well with an active person or family! Not only is she THE cutest but she is super sweet and loves attention, cuddles, and treats! She came in with Cole (another dog we currently have available for adoption) so we believe she is dog friendly! She’d be the perfect companion to play with in the yard and then go snuggle on the couch! She loves to jump! This girl is as sweet as they come and will love you forever. She is waiting so patiently for her forever home, could that be with you?

Story
Archie is one of those dogs that’s not popular. He’s not a popular breed/mix and no one has asked about him at all. He’s been there longer than any other dog at the shelter now, but we love him and believe in him! He’s not trained because he’s never had a home that cared enough to teach him anything. His puppyhood was probably stolen from him because he had to fend for himself. When he came into the shelter (as a stray on 8/22/25) he was in pitiful shape. Cuts, scrapes, wounds and areas of missing hair was all over his body. He was underweight. He was timid and didn't know what to do with toys. Now he’s finally getting some love and attention and doesn’t know what to do with it! He LOVES toys and his fur is now nice and soft. He's rambunctious and happy, young believed to be around a year old. He gets overexcited when he knows he’s going out of the shelter for a walk, but we can guarantee you this, he is sweet and friendly! He has gotten along with every dog he's met through the kennel and loves to give his "girlfriends" kisses. It’s dogs like Archie, an underdog, that can end up being one of the most loyal and loving dogs that anyone could ever want. Someone just has to love him enough and have the patience to teach him about life with humans. Take him home, bond with him, once he trusts you and feels at home, slowly start some training with him and make it fun. He loves treats and he love toys so that makes training a little easier!

Story
Candy is still in need of a rescue or an approved home, she is doing terrific in her foster home and is so ready for a family of her own. She is approximately 2-3 years old and weighs about 55-60 pounds. Candy and her two puppies were found last winter living under an abandoned house. The family who owned the property had been feeding them and trying to get them to come out from under the house. Animal control was finally called and Candy, Cody and Finley were brought to the shelter Feb. 28 2024.They were all frightened and rightfully so; who knows how long they had been living under the house without any human contact. Candy, Cody and Finley stayed at the shelter for a while but they weren’t getting much better. They needed more human contact and needed to be able to interact with other confident dogs. They did make it to a foster home, where they started making great progress. It took some time, but they have learned to trust people, learned what it’s like to live in a house and what it’s like to be part of a family. Cody and Finley were taken into rescue, and they are both doing very well! Now it’s Candy’s turn! She has been such a good mama, taking such great care of her boys while they were on their own. It’s time someone took care of her!!! Candy will do best in a home with other calm, confident dogs. She doesn’t like dogs who are too rambunctious and play too much. For the same reason, she probably would not do well in a home with small children. Candy will need a fenced in yard to keep her safe. A small area will be fine. Candy needs someone who has experience with scared dogs who have not been around a lot of people. She will need to be in a quiet and calm environment while she learns about the world and learns to fully trust people.
