Story
Misty is gorgeous and oh so sweet. This friendly beauty had a rough start and is looking for a loving, safe home where she will be pampered. She was severly matted and had to be partially shaved. Now, she loves to be brushed and cared for. She was in a home where food was not plentiful and was allowed to two litters of kittens that we are aware of. She was fiercely protective but the environment wasn't safe for them. As a result, she is not fond of other kitties and likely will not do well with dogs. She will likely do best as an only pet in the household. Can you offer her a long awaited home? * Our kitties are: Spayed/neutered (or provided a spay/neuter voucher for kittens too small for surgery), combo tested for Feline Leukemia and Feline Aids, up-to-date on vaccines (rabies vaccine when age appropriate), treated for parasites, and most have microchips. Tiny kittens go in pairs unless there's a companion animal already in the household. Our adoption fees are low. Most are $150 although some very desirable kitties may be slightly more. For a pair, we reduce the adoption fee slightly.April 12, 2024, 6:39 pm

Story
Angel is beautiful and she is looking for a very understanding person. She is 10yrs old and she is untrusting of new people. We are showing her that she can feel safe around us but she is definitely not used to this many people being around. Angel’s owner passed away and she found herself in need a loving person. Angel wants to interact with us, however, she changes her mind and will hiss and swat to get you away. She is trying, but there is just too much going on around the busy shelter. We know that Angel needs a home with no other cats. With her personality, she would do best in a quiet, adult home with a room of her own. She needs time to learn her surroundings so she can feel safe getting to know a new person. If you watch her behavior, she tells you when she is nervous and she has enjoyed her kitty cube so she can come out as far as her gumption lets her. If you are a patient person with a quiet home, You can visit this pet during our Animal Viewing Hours below. Location: Howard County Animal Control and Adoption Center 8576 Davis Rd Columbia, MD 21045 You can call first to see if this pet is still available: 410-313-2780 Option 0. Applications are accepted in person at our facility after you visit this pet out of their cage.  Animal Viewing Hours: Mon, Wed, Fri 10:00-4:30 (Closed at 2:30 the last Friday of each month) Tues & Thurs 1:30-7:00 Sat 10:00-2:00 (Closed on county observed holidays and holiday weekends.)Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.April 12, 2024, 3:16 pm

Spayed or Neutered,
Story
We would like to introduce you to a beautiful cat named Victoria. This girl has a stunning long-haired coat, and lovely black and white coloring. Her journey with our shelter started back in 2019 when she transferred in from another organization, was adopted and now recently returned. She was absolutely well loved and cared for, but sadly seems she just never adjusted to the other cats in the home the last few years, and is chronically stressed out. Behavior meds and keeping her separate were just not working for her. Victoria would prefer to be the only cat in her future home, and we are hoping that we can find someone to open their heart and home to this special lady! Some things to know about Victoria: She is listed at 8 years old, but her previous medical paperwork is a bit conflicting regarding that, and she could be older. She has had bloodwork and testing that shows no obvious age-related issues/diseases. She can be a tempermental lady and often needs her space, but when she wants to cuddle, she will let you know! She absolutely loves treats and will sit and glare at you until you comply and get the bag. She can be rattled by loud or sudden noises and movements. This regal princess is hoping that you will come meet her, and provide her with the safe, quiet and comfortable home that she deserves!Adoptable cats/kittens are spayed/neutered, started on core vaccines per shelter protocols, microchipped, FIV/FeLV tested, and started on monthly preventatives. Adoptions hours (no appointment needed) are M/T/W/F 10 am - 12 pm and 2 pm -4 pm; TH 10 am -12 pm and 2 pm -6 pm, and SAT 9 am -1 pm. To schedule an appointment outside of those hours, and/or to learn more information regarding a particular animal, please call the Feline Department at 410-848-4810 ext 822. If no one answers, please leave a detailed message with your name and phone number, and the call will be returned by end of business Monday - Friday. Adopters can prepare for their visit by being 21 years of age or older, having permission from their landlord to bring a new pet into their household, having some form of ID that shows their current address, and by bringing a suitable carrier to take their new companion home in. The adoption fee can be paid using cash, debit or credit and is based on age: Cats 1 year and younger are $75; cats 2 years to 7 years are $50; and 8 years and older are $25.

Spayed or Neutered,
Story
This long-haired black and brown tuxedo beauty has been around the block a time or two. Ruthie is a middle-aged Karen with high standards and strong opinions. She cuts the deli line with zero regard, despises every species except human, and demands to speak to the manager. She loves people (most of the time) but hates other animals; loves your food but doesn't like what you're serving tonight. She loves to sleep in bed with you and snuggle against your neck. Ruthie is a tidy, quiet, litterbox expert and a perfect roommate.
