Story
Lonestar would have spent 2 years in a California shelter as of this May. We saw this sweet boy who was a shelter staff favorite and our hearts went out to him. We had to help this long-timer out of the shelter. - 46 pounds and approximately 5 years old - Possibly a German Shepherd/Border Collie mix. He's pretty petite in size. - Super social and friendly with everyone including strangers. Very attentive to his foster mom and follows her wherever she goes. Really loves to curl up next to people on the couch and cuddle. - Excellent with other dogs - Fostered with cats but does occasionally bark and pounce at the cats. He likely would be best in a no cat home or with highly dog savvy cats and supervision. - Has been excellent with the kids in his foster home ages 6 + years old - Medium to lower energy. He's happy to play but also loves chilling and relaxing in the house. Could be a great dog for a first time dog owner. - Walks pretty easily on leash without a lot of pulling. No signs of leash reactivity towards dogs or people. - Crates decently well and will go in for a high value treat. Has been crated for up to 3 hours at a time so far during the day. Sleeps in the crate at night. - Doing well with potty habits - No chewing household items or destruction in foster - Not super into toys. Low toy drive so far. - Not reactive at fence lines even if neighbor dogs are being reactive at him His foster mom says Lonestar is just a "super nice dog!" Lonestar is vaccinated, microchipped, dewormed, neutered, heartworm tested negative, and current on flea/tick/heartworm prevention. He will be professionally groomed on 3/1/26. His adoption fee also includes a free wellness exam at one of our partner veterinary clinics in Oregon City, Milwaukie, Portland or Tualatin. $250 adoption fee Fostered in Vancouver, Washington APPLY TO ADOPT LONESTAR ON OUR WEBSITE: WWW.AGAVEDOGS.ORG

Story
Charcoal is a fluff ball cutie that we rescued from out of California after a family had an accidental litter. Both parent dogs are spayed and neutered and now it's time for the pups to find good homes. Charcoal is a gregarious, outgoing, up for anything, confident puppy who is seeking an active adopter willing to put in the training, socialization, enrichment and exercise to fulfill him so he can grow into a well mannered adult dog. - 21 pounds on 2/19/26 and we expect he will be around 60 pounds fully grown. We cannot guarantee size at maturity but he will be a large breed dog. - We have photos of the parent dogs we are happy to share and believe Charcoal is likely a German Shepherd/Husky mix along with some other breeds. He was the only long haired puppy in the litter. Both parent dogs are social, nice dogs. - Playful, engaged and interactive with humans and other dogs. This boy is a social butterfly who loves everyone he meets and is happy to say high and engage in play and cuddles. - Fostered with cats and could likely do ok with cats in his future home. We are glad he is getting cat exposure at such a young age so he can hopefully not have a prey drive for kitties as he matures. - Adventure pup in the making! Charcoal was doing some hedge trimming in the backyard with his foster family and he figured out on his own how to climb the first three rungs of the ladder they were using to follow them up the ladder. He is smart and willing to tag along for anything. He will thrive with an owner willing to include him and invest in training to help capture all his brilliance and athleticism. Charcoal is neutered, microchipped, has had two rounds of puppy vaccines, dewormed and current on flea/tick/heartworm prevention. His adoption fee includes a free wellness exam at one of our partner veterinary clinics in Oregon City, Milwaukie, Portland or Tualatin. $350 adoption fee Fostered in Milwaukie, Oregon APPLY TO ADOPT CHARCOAL ON OUR WEBSITE: WWW.AGAVEDOGS.ORG

Story
Gandalf - 57 lb, 3 years old, Shepherd mix. This poor guy was a stray; he was caught using a dog trap. He’s shut down in the shelter environment. He’ll need an experienced, patient handler who can help him to decompress and come out of his shell. Gandalf was evaluated by staff; key observations are as follows: Tolerates gentle petting on the head; shut down; shows limited social skills with people. Overall, appears under socialized and a flight risk! Leash walking is currently very uncomfortable; he will resist, yelp, and attempt to hide. Enjoyed spending time in the yard (on leash), tolerated people being present but does not show much enthusiasm or engagement. He did take treats gently from the handler. Tested well with another male (Coffee); they were able to sit in the grass together and relax. He was also introduced to a more energetic female dog, River. He initially growled at her but then was able to coexist and allow some curious sniffing. Any future introductions to other dogs should be slow and supervised. When returning to his kennel, Gandalf walked inside on his own to hide and allowed staff to remove his leash without issue. ##2604285##
