Story
This is my sweet sweet pretty girl Lalu, my heart aches as I write this because I truly love her. She is a funny dog with lots of personality, she loves walks, cuddles, and whining. Just like any other German Shepard she is a very active dog and is very loyal, she’ll cry whenever I leave her side. So I would love for her to go to someone active and caring. She is such a great dog, but she deserves a life better than the one that I am giving her. And I will no longer be able to care for her, as I am soon moving to another state. I pray that a kind soul can adopt her before i move.

Story
Hello! This is Lycan a 6-year-old, purebred German Shepherd. He is house-trained, crate-trained, and walks well on a leash without pulling. He is very gentle when taking treats from your hand. Lycan has a moderate energy level and usually needs about three days to warm up to new people, but once he trusts you, his incredibly friendly and loyal. He has experience being around cats, female dogs, and small children he is familiar with. Lycan is truly a wonderful dog, but unfortunately my work schedule has increased, and I no longer able to give him the life and attention he deserves.

Story
Whiskey is Sponsored by Happy TrailsMeet Whiskey 🤎Whiskey is a kind-natured adult male German Shepherd with soulful eyes and the gentlest heart. He came from a heartbreaking situation, but despite everything he’s been through, Whiskey has chosen kindness. All he really wants now are a few tasty treats, some loving pets, and a yard to run off his energy in.This cuddle tank is a gentle giant with an easygoing nature inside the home. Indoors, Whiskey is calm and affectionate, happiest when he can lean against his people or stay close by, quietly soaking up love. Outside, however, is where his size and strength really shine. He is a big, powerful boy who can pull on leash and needs continued training to polish his manners. While he is very sweet, he will require structure, consistency, and an adopter committed to working with him so he can be his very best self.Due to his strength and energy level, Whiskey is looking for a home with prior German Shepherd experience. He needs confident, dog-savvy adopters who understand the breed’s drive, intelligence, and training needs. His future family should also be physically capable of safely handling a strong, energetic dog — active, fit adults who won’t find themselves being dragged across the lawn in front of the neighbors.Like any true GSD, Whiskey will thrive with daily exercise, clear expectations, and ongoing guidance. In the right hands, his loyalty and devotion will be unmatched.Whiskey deserves a home where he’ll never be overlooked again — a place where patience, compassion, and consistency will help him continue to grow. In return, he offers unwavering loyalty, big Shepherd snuggles, and the kind of love that only a second-chance dog can give.If you’re an experienced Shepherd lover ready for a sweet, strong, and devoted companion, Whiskey is ready to meet you. 🐾If you are interested in meeting Whiskey, the shelter is open Tuesday through Saturday 11am – 5pm, Sunday 11am-4pm (Winter Hours). If you’d like to schedule an appointment, check out the pets’ profile on our website at newberganimals.com to fill out an application and email to frontdesk@newberganimals.com.Due to COVID-19, we are currently only open by appointment. Story
We adopted Dixie in November of 2022 when she was predicted to be about 10 months old. She was very skittish when we brought her home but has made tremendous progress in the last 3 years. She is very loyal and has lots of energy. To our knowledge, she has not been around cats yet. Dixie does well with children, however, she likes to play with lots of energy and is not the most spatial aware. She will flea bite on occasion when we are playing with her, but she has never done it to kids. She also does well with other dogs. Dixie would be best suited for somebody with a very active lifestyle, she does get a little carsick, but loves to go on adventures. A few months ago her feet were getting very irritated and she was losing some toenails. She was diagnosed with an autoimmune issue and recommended daily vitamins that will help her nail health.

Story
Hi there! My name is Jellybean and I'm so un-bean-lievably sweet that you have to come meet me!My friends here at OHS ADORE me and have so many wonderful things to say! I love to be around my favorite people, looking out windows, and hanging out with other dogs that are of equal size. I have the silliest personality and will be sure to bring a smile to your face. My name definitely suits me as I'm super sweet just like a Jellybean!I am a very active boy and would love to go on adventures with you! Toys - specifically balls - are my absolute favorite and we can have so much fun playing together! I'm quite a large boy and sometimes don't know my size, so I need to go to a home without children. While I LOVE my favorite people (be ready for all the smooches and cuddles!) I can be a little shy and nervous around new people, new surroundings and touch. I also can have barrier reactivity which means I can be frustrated meeting new dogs or people through barriers. I prefer to meet in a neutral, open setting, take things at my own pace. Treats are my favorite way to make friends! My friends also say I love to learn! I am super smart and know sit and down, but I am always ready to learn more! Treats and positive reinforcement are great ways to make friends with me and teach me new things. I am high energy and I can become easily frustrated if my energy and exercise needs are not met. Being such a big and rambunctious guy I must go to a home with a fenced in yard. I can also be quite the leash puller, I can't help it walkies are so so so much fun! Patience and guidance from my forever family can help me improve my leash skills!I have had some fun with other large dogs while at OHS but I can be quite the rough and rowdy player, so I will need to meet any large canine companions prior to getting adopted. I will also need a home without small dogs, cats, and other small animals. That just means more fun time for us! Once we meet in person I will be sure to melt your heart. If you're interested, I am part of the Diamond in the Ruff program, which you can learn more about here. I can't wait to meet you Primary Color: Sable Weight: 103.5 Age: 2yrs 10mths 0wks

Story
911 FOSTER /HOME Sushi…aka…Sasha ❤️ needs a home. Someone that has German Shepherd knowledge. She is a very sweet young female German Shepherd. She is more on the submissive side. Fine with other dogs a little fearful at times, no aggression. Fearful of men. She was a stray at the shelter and was shutting down and is now in a foster home. Unfortunately the Foster Home is unable to provide the care she needs. German shepherds are very loyal and an amazing breed, they just need the right Home to love her and let her settle in. If you can provide either a Foster or adoptive home, please apply at www.hopeshavenfriends.org
