Story
German Shepard needing a new home Rex’s basic info: Breed: German Shepard Color: Tan/brown/black/fawn Age: 16 mo Size: Large Weight: +/-90 lbs Sex: Male Crate-trained No chip He has not been neutered About Rex: Rex is 16 mo and is pure love in dog form. He absolutely lives for playtime and has the happiest, most playful spirit whether playing with toys or running around outside. Rex is a sweet dog and gets along with both humans and pets. He can get overly excited and want to play, nibble and find things to chew when not exercised. He is not yet trained on all his behaviors yet so he needs someone who can spend some quality time with him on this. He does know what sit, lay down, wait, off, come here, okay, but has not perfected it yet. Rex needs a loving home that can take the time to train and exercise him, he is a ball of energy. Having a second pet in the home is preferred but not required. If you feel he and this fits you please apply.

Story
We adopted Janner 3.5 years ago and have had intentions to spend more time with him, but in the busyness of our family life he has spent too much time in a crate in the garage. While we walk him twice a day faithfully, it has become a challenge for us to spend any more time with him. He’s a very sweet dog and deserves a life and family that has more time to spend with him. We spent some time investing in a dog trainer early on and he is very bright and playful, although he has lost most of his puppy energy from the early days. I used to run many miles with him and I’m sure he would still enjoy a slower paced run with the right adopted family.

******Please note, once completing the initial screen you will be connected with the placement for a video chat. Transports run every few weeks and we will have the dog on the next available transport once approved. If you are not able to accept a dog until a specific time period, please apply at that time************ We are a volunteer run rescue and donate our time to these dogs. IF you are not serious about moving forward in our adoption process, please do not apply. If someone other than yourself is part of the decision making process, please make sure you have spoken with them and they are on board. We really do not want to waste anyone's time if you are not serious about adopting this dog. Meet Vanna. Vanna is an approximately 4-year-old, spayed and vaccinated German Shepherd mix with a big heart and an even bigger personality. She’s playful, affectionate, and very much a “velcro dog” who loves being close to her people. Once she bonds with you, she’s happiest by your side, whether you’re relaxing at home or heading out for an adventure. Vanna has medium energy levels and would thrive in an active home. She loves playing fetch and going for walks, and she’s great in the car, making her a fun companion for outings. At home, she’s been trusted to free roam and isn’t destructive at all she just wants to be near her favorite humans. When it comes to other animals, Vanna is best suited as the only dog in the home. She can be playful with very well-matched dogs (generally larger dogs around 90 lbs or more) as long as there are no resources to guard or compete over, and she’s good at picking up cues when another dog is done playing. She’s not a fan of smaller dogs and can sometimes be reactive on leash depending on how other dogs behave toward her, so continued leash work and training will be important. The good news? She does great with dog-savvy cats! Vanna is reserved with strangers at first but remains friendly and warms up with time. She hasn’t been around kids yet, but she may do well with older children (12+) who can respect her space and boundaries. She currently doesn't have stairs where she lives, but will likely have no issues with them and settles nicely into a home routine. Like many dogs who’ve been through a lot, Vanna is still working through some challenges. She has experienced significant trauma and is actively working on negative behaviors around other dogs. She has some resource guarding issues with food, toys, and people, will need continued support with leash manners, and is still polishing up her potty training with the occasional accident. Vanna is also crate trained. With patience, consistency, and understanding, she has so much potential to continue growing. Vanna is a loyal, loving companion who just needs the right home…one that can give her structure, reassurance, and plenty of affection. If you’re looking for a devoted best friend who will stick by your side through it all, Vanna may be your perfect match! ***Listed BREED and AGE - We are taking our best guess & recommendations from our veterinarian on age, breed and size when fully grown. We rarely know a dog's exact age nor are we able to tell the true or full breed mix of dogs as our information is limited most of the time. *** Interested in applying to adopt her? Meet Charles – Your Loyal, Cuddly Companion 🐾 Say hello to Charles, a 7-year-old German Shepherd with a heart full of love and a soul that’s loyal and affectionate. This sweet boy is looking for a quiet, stable home where he can be someone’s whole world — and promises to return that love tenfold.  Charles is the ultimate cuddle buddy. He loves nothing more than lounging by your side, enjoying a toy, and soaking up the company of his favorite human. His gentle, mellow nature makes him the perfect companion for someone who appreciates the quiet joy of a calm and loving dog. While Charles is a big softie at heart, he does have some preferences. He can be reactive to other dogs and small children, so he’s looking for a home where he can be the "only child" — ideally with a single person or a couple. If you’re looking for a loyal best friend to share your life with — someone to greet you at the door, curl up at your feet, and bring comfort and companionship — Charles just might be your perfect match. Charles is ready to meet his forever person. Could it be you? If you are interested, please call Shannon from Hannah Pet Hospital at 971-606-4006.

Story
Some dogs are pets. Calhoun is the kind of dog people used to write stories about. Picture this: the back door opens and Calhoun bursts into the yard, stretching his long legs and bounding across the grass like a deer. The kids are laughing, another dog is chasing him, and every few seconds he glances back just to make sure you’re watching. That’s Calhoun, happiest when he’s outside with his people, running, exploring, and being part of the action! 🎥 See Calhoun in action: https://youtu.be/Nl18hewfB5U Calhoun is the kind of dog who reminds you of the old-school dogs from another time, the ones who ran beside the kids all day, followed their person wherever they went, and somehow always seemed to understand their job was simply to be there. At about 70 pounds, 4-5 years old, Calhoun is a handsome Shepherd mis (with rescue its alwasy a guess!) with long legs and an athletic build. When he runs across the yard, he doesn’t just run, he trots like a deer, stretching those long legs and flying across the grass like he was made for adventure. And in many ways, he was. Calhoun loves to run, explore, and play with his foster brothers and sisters, so a home with a yard and an active family would make him happiest. Backyard games, outdoor adventures, and a family who enjoys being outside are exactly his speed. Whether it’s chasing a ball, running alongside another dog, or stretching his legs in the yard, Calhoun is happiest when he can move. And if you already have a dog? Even better. Calhoun is a fantastic dog’s dog. In his foster home, new dogs come and go often and he has become something of a welcoming committee. He greets newcomers calmly, shares toys, and naturally helps keep the peace. He has even helped nurture and guide young puppies, patiently showing them the ropes. He went and visited a friend's home with 6 dogs and two teens and he did fantastic, even with 13 pound dogs! I received an A+! He has had friends come visit with their children from 3-11 and Calhoun was very excited and happy to spend time with them. When it’s time to play, Calhoun can match whatever style the other dog enjoys. Rowdy wrestling? He’s in. A fast game of chase around the yard? He’s all about it. He’s playful, fair, and incredibly socially intelligent with other dogs. With people, Calhoun has that quiet loyalty that’s hard to explain but easy to feel. He isn’t a clingy, cuddle-all-day dog, but he’s deeply devoted to his person. He checks in often, comes over for a pat or a few kisses, and then settles nearby where he can keep an eye on things. The kind of dog who simply wants to be where his people are. He loves kids and fits naturally into family life, taking the noise and movement of a busy home in stride. The running, laughing, backpacks, and chaos of everyday life don’t bother him one bit, he just becomes part of it. Calhoun also has wonderful manners. He walks nicely on leash, rides well in the car, and is crate trained. He’s the kind of dog who settles easily into a home and quickly becomes everyone’s favorite companion. Calhoun would thrive in a home with: • A yard where he can run and stretch his legs • An active family and playful dog friends • People who want a true adventure companion Calhoun is the dog who runs with you across the yard, the dog who trots beside you down the trail, and the dog who checks in just to make sure you’re still there. Dogs like Calhoun are special. They remind us of the kind of dogs people grew up with, loyal, capable, playful, and always ready for whatever the day brings. If you’re looking for a dog to share life’s adventures with, Calhoun might just be your kind of dog. For heartworm-positive dogs, hard costs are upwards of $1,120.
