Story
Cosmo is a 2 year old mixed breed that was adopted when he was about 5-6 months old. His exact birthday is unknown, but we celebrate is on Valentine's Day. He is a very intelligent dog that is highly food motivated and eager to please. He is still young and requires diligence with his training. That is the main reason he is be re-homed as I am unable to spend the time on his training that is best for him due to a change in our family. He knows the following commands well: sit, down, off, place, stay, wait, leave it, and touch. Needs more work on not jumping up when saying hello or being excited. He is a very loving pet that loves to snuggle and be close to his humans. Licking is his love language. He is protective of his family and barks when new people enter the house. After calming down in his kennel for a few minutes he can then come out to say hello. He also requires training on meeting new dogs, he gets scared and defensive around them. Loves his doggy sister though!

******Please note, once completing the initial screen you will be connected with the placement for a video chat. Transports run every few weeks and we will have the dog on the next available transport once approved. If you are not able to accept a dog until a specific time period, please apply at that time************ We are a volunteer run rescue and donate our time to these dogs. IF you are not serious about moving forward in our adoption process, please do not apply. If someone other than yourself is part of the decision making process, please make sure you have spoken with them and they are on board. We really do not want to waste anyone's time if you are not serious about adopting this dog. Meet Vanna. Vanna is an approximately 4-year-old, spayed and vaccinated German Shepherd mix with a big heart and an even bigger personality. She’s playful, affectionate, and very much a “velcro dog” who loves being close to her people. Once she bonds with you, she’s happiest by your side, whether you’re relaxing at home or heading out for an adventure. Vanna has medium energy levels and would thrive in an active home. She loves playing fetch and going for walks, and she’s great in the car, making her a fun companion for outings. At home, she’s been trusted to free roam and isn’t destructive at all she just wants to be near her favorite humans. When it comes to other animals, Vanna is best suited as the only dog in the home. She can be playful with very well-matched dogs (generally larger dogs around 90 lbs or more) as long as there are no resources to guard or compete over, and she’s good at picking up cues when another dog is done playing. She’s not a fan of smaller dogs and can sometimes be reactive on leash depending on how other dogs behave toward her, so continued leash work and training will be important. The good news? She does great with dog-savvy cats! Vanna is reserved with strangers at first but remains friendly and warms up with time. She hasn’t been around kids yet, but she may do well with older children (12+) who can respect her space and boundaries. She currently doesn't have stairs where she lives, but will likely have no issues with them and settles nicely into a home routine. Like many dogs who’ve been through a lot, Vanna is still working through some challenges. She has experienced significant trauma and is actively working on negative behaviors around other dogs. She has some resource guarding issues with food, toys, and people, will need continued support with leash manners, and is still polishing up her potty training with the occasional accident. Vanna is also crate trained. With patience, consistency, and understanding, she has so much potential to continue growing. Vanna is a loyal, loving companion who just needs the right home…one that can give her structure, reassurance, and plenty of affection. If you’re looking for a devoted best friend who will stick by your side through it all, Vanna may be your perfect match! ***Listed BREED and AGE - We are taking our best guess & recommendations from our veterinarian on age, breed and size when fully grown. We rarely know a dog's exact age nor are we able to tell the true or full breed mix of dogs as our information is limited most of the time. *** Interested in applying to adopt her? Story
Some dogs are pets. Calhoun is the kind of dog people used to write stories about. Picture this: the back door opens and Calhoun bursts into the yard, stretching his long legs and bounding across the grass like a deer. The kids are laughing, another dog is chasing him, and every few seconds he glances back just to make sure you’re watching. That’s Calhoun, happiest when he’s outside with his people, running, exploring, and being part of the action! 🎥 See Calhoun in action: https://youtu.be/Nl18hewfB5U Calhoun is the kind of dog who reminds you of the old-school dogs from another time, the ones who ran beside the kids all day, followed their person wherever they went, and somehow always seemed to understand their job was simply to be there. At about 70 pounds, 4-5 years old, Calhoun is a handsome Shepherd mis (with rescue its alwasy a guess!) with long legs and an athletic build. When he runs across the yard, he doesn’t just run, he trots like a deer, stretching those long legs and flying across the grass like he was made for adventure. And in many ways, he was. Calhoun loves to run, explore, and play with his foster brothers and sisters, so a home with a yard and an active family would make him happiest. Backyard games, outdoor adventures, and a family who enjoys being outside are exactly his speed. Whether it’s chasing a ball, running alongside another dog, or stretching his legs in the yard, Calhoun is happiest when he can move. And if you already have a dog? Even better. Calhoun is a fantastic dog’s dog. In his foster home, new dogs come and go often and he has become something of a welcoming committee. He greets newcomers calmly, shares toys, and naturally helps keep the peace. He has even helped nurture and guide young puppies, patiently showing them the ropes. He went and visited a friend's home with 6 dogs and two teens and he did fantastic, even with 13 pound dogs! I received an A+! He has had friends come visit with their children from 3-11 and Calhoun was very excited and happy to spend time with them. When it’s time to play, Calhoun can match whatever style the other dog enjoys. Rowdy wrestling? He’s in. A fast game of chase around the yard? He’s all about it. He’s playful, fair, and incredibly socially intelligent with other dogs. With people, Calhoun has that quiet loyalty that’s hard to explain but easy to feel. He isn’t a clingy, cuddle-all-day dog, but he’s deeply devoted to his person. He checks in often, comes over for a pat or a few kisses, and then settles nearby where he can keep an eye on things. The kind of dog who simply wants to be where his people are. He loves kids and fits naturally into family life, taking the noise and movement of a busy home in stride. The running, laughing, backpacks, and chaos of everyday life don’t bother him one bit, he just becomes part of it. Calhoun also has wonderful manners. He walks nicely on leash, rides well in the car, and is crate trained. He’s the kind of dog who settles easily into a home and quickly becomes everyone’s favorite companion. Calhoun would thrive in a home with: • A yard where he can run and stretch his legs • An active family and playful dog friends • People who want a true adventure companion Calhoun is the dog who runs with you across the yard, the dog who trots beside you down the trail, and the dog who checks in just to make sure you’re still there. Dogs like Calhoun are special. They remind us of the kind of dogs people grew up with, loyal, capable, playful, and always ready for whatever the day brings. If you’re looking for a dog to share life’s adventures with, Calhoun might just be your kind of dog. Our on-site trainers support the positive growth of our dogs and we enjoy seeing their progress! Our commitment to comprehensive medical care sets us apart. We've received glowing feedback from veterinarians who commend our dedication to ensuring the health and well-being of every animal in our care with treatments that often go above and beyond. Our adoption fees reflect the extensive care and resources that go into each animal we save. The adoption fee is a donation to the mission and goes far beyond getting a fully vetted pet. The rescue’s hard costs alone for a healthy dog to go through our program typically range between $412 to $859, which includes boarding, food, medications, vaccines, and spay/neuter. For heartworm-positive dogs, hard costs are upwards of $1,120. Additionally, dogs requiring extended boarding, extra training, or extra medical care—such as dental work, vision care, or orthopedic care—can lead to expenses running into the thousands. Also, included in the fee are costs to cover transport up to the Pacific Northwest or East Coast. While adoption fees help cover part of these expenses, we want to emphasize that Three Little Pitties Rescue is not government funded. It doesn’t stop there! Did you know that the Greater Houston area faces some of the highest stray and overpopulation rates in the nation? We are a non profit charity. Story
Meet Elly, a girl who’s 50% ears, 50% tongue, and 100% ready to steal your heart (and maybe your spot on the couch). If you’re looking for a goofy, affectionate sidekick who thinks every day is the best day ever, She’s officially taking applications for her forever best friend! Ready to see this goofy girl in action? Grab the popcorn and click the link below to watch Elly’s official audition for the role of your new best friend! https://youtu.be/woqnHdO69So Elly is the definition of a velcro dog in the most endearing way possible. Whether you’re folding laundry, working from home, or just navigating the kitchen, you can count on this sweet girl to be your dedicated shadow. She is much more of a hang out and relax kind of pup than a high octane athlete; she truly just wants to be wherever you are, soaking up all the love you have to give. There is something so special about a dog who finds her confidence just by being near her favorite human, and that’s her! We suspect this gorgeous girl is a Golden Shepherd mix, and at 51 lbs, she’s the perfect size not too big, not too small, but just the right size for the best hugs! She still has that adorable puppy essence, wrapped in a beautiful coat. As with all our rescue stars, her breed is our best educated guess, but her 100% Good Girl status is a total fact. She’s got a heart much bigger than her medium sized frame! Living in a loving foster home has taught her that life is all about belly rubs, soft blankets, and humans who think she’s the best thing since sliced bread (she agrees, by the way). She doesn’t just use her crate; she loves it! It’s her private sanctuary where she settles in for the sweetest dreams without a peep.No accidents here! Elly is fully potty trained and has mastered the art of holding it like a total professional. Elly’s picking up her leash manners with lightning speed. Every walk is a new adventure where she shows off her focus and growing confidence. If you’ve got a couch that needs warming and a heart that needs filling, Ellie is officially ready to be your new favorite hello! When it comes to other dogs, Elly is the ultimate polite socialite! She is very submissive and goes out of her way to let other pups know she’s a friend, not a threat. She would do wonderfully in a home with another dog who has a gentle or calm energy level to match her own, but she’s also perfectly happy being the solo star of the show. She’s all about harmony in the household. Whether she's sharing her toys with a new best friend or soaking up all the solo attention herself, Elly is the low drama, high love companion your home has been waiting for! When it comes to the feline persuasion, Elly is the ultimate respectful roommate! Elly was even caught giving a cat sweet little licks on the face, showing she’s more interested in making a buddy than making a scene. While she seems like a total feline fan, we’d love for her to have a kitty sleepover (an overnight cat test) just to confirm she’s ready for a permanent feline roommate. If you have a cat, Elly might just be their new best friend. Whether you’ve got a sprawling backyard or a cozy apartment balcony, Elly is the ultimate "adapter plug" of pups! She’s not looking to run a marathon or scale a mountain; she’s a lady who just needs her strolls and an embarrassing amount of we time. Elly just wants a soft spot to land and a family who understands that blooming takes a little patience. One look into those big, soulful eyes and you’ll see exactly what she is: just a silly, fluffy puppy waiting! In short, Elly is a gentle, shadow dwelling sweetheart who is ready to graduate from rescue life to the big leagues of your living room. She’s trading in her good manners for a permanent spot in your heart (and probably a permanent spot on your favorite rug). If you’re looking for a goofy, gentle soul who thinks personal space is just a suggestion, Elly is ready to be your loyal little sidekick for all of life’s adventures from the kitchen to the couch!
