Story
Shay is a wonderful young dog that craves affection and company. She was found as a stray so we have no medical background. She appears very healthy with no medical issues found. She is very active, however she is good on a leash and is crate trained. She does like to jump up so she needs some training. NOTE: The shelter's budget does NOT cover vet exams for these animals. We recommend that each adopted animal get a complete Veterinary exam (including fecal), within about a week of adoption. May 6, 2026, 4:39 pm

Story
Meet Mia a 4-year-old, 70-80 lb fully vaccinated and spayed beauty who thrives in a structured environment and has consistently proven herself easy to work with, responsive, and eager to please. Mia is looking for a calm, confident adopter who can offer her the routine and structure, which is where she thrives! She'll do well in a dog-savvy home and gets along with other dogs when management is clear and calm. We recommend a home without young children; teens may be fine with guidance. Over the years, she's completed several training programs--passing each with flying colors! . To support her in her next chapter, Happy Gentle Dogs will provide a complimentary Board & Train before adoption, along with a smooth, hands-on transfer and follow-up support to set everyone up for success. Mia has a solid foundation and a big heart. If you're ready to meet her with patience and purpose, we'd love to hear from you. If you feel your home might be the right place for such a great dog - the place to start is with the adoption application found at www.dfwrescueme.org/adopt. Once submitted, the foster will contact you promptly to tell you more and to arrange a time to meet! The adoption fee for all of our dogs is $300.00, which includes their vaccinations and spay/neuter. Mia is participating in the DFW Rescue Me Guest Dog Program, so ongoing care and custody are provided by their foster, not by DFWRM.May 9, 2026, 12:08 am

Story
Rosie is a two-year-old 55 pound female, spayed, who is heartworm positive and currently on doxycyline. She is very sweet and affectionate. When I come near her she rolls on her side for belly rubs. I cannot keep Rosie because my dog doesn't want another dog in the house or yard. He barks at her and is agressive. Now they are separated, but I'm worried that they will come together at some point and have a violent fight. She is schedule for an injection for heartworm on June 5 and must be kept quiet for about 6 weeks, i.e. she will not be allowed to run around and play. Rosie would be a great companion and friend to anyone who loves dogs.

Story
Meet Gunther – the comeback king Gunther has come a long way since arriving at the shelter. After recovering from severe flea dermatitis, his beautiful German Shepherd coat is growing back in wonderfully, and he’s feeling better than ever. What never changed through it all? His incredible personality. This handsome boy is extremely smart and already knows a ton of tricks. He’s eager to learn, loves showing off for treats and praise, and bonds quickly with the people he trusts. Gunther is affectionate, playful, loyal, and happiest when he’s spending time right by your side. While he can be a little unsure around other dogs, Gunther would likely thrive as the only pet in the home where he can feel safe, confident, and soak up all the love and attention he deserves. If you’re looking for a loyal best friend with brains, personality, and a heart of gold, Gunther might just be your perfect match. The adoption fee for this pet is $75. This cost includes spay/neuter, microchip, and all vaccines.May 19, 2026, 6:17 pm

Story
💌 A Valentine from Riley 💌 Dear Future Best Friend, Warning: I will steal your heart. 💘 Not in a sneaky way...more in a “I’ll sit nicely, give you my paw, and look at you like you hung the moon” kind of way. 😍 I’m Riley, and I’m told I’m very handsome (I try not to let it go to my head). What really makes me special, though, is how much I love my people. Unlike some doggos, I’m not really motivated by treats. Instead, I’m motivated by YOU. 🫵 Your praise. Your smile. Your “good boy.” That’s the good stuff. Here’s what you should know about your future Valentine: ❤️ I’m housebroken and have great manners ❤️ I know lots of commands — sit, stay, paw, outside, come, couch, no… and I’m always ready to learn more ❤️ I love everyone I meet ❤️ I work very hard to remember not to jump when I get excited (because sometimes I just can’t help how happy I am to see you) ❤️ I’m eager to please and learn quickly All I want is someone to belong to. Someone to be proud of me. Someone who wants to come home to me. If you’re looking for a sweet, smart, devoted best boy who will choose your praise over snacks any day… I’m right here. Will you be my forever Valentine? Love, Riley 🐾 ADOPTION APPLICATION: https://iamdogrescue.org/adoption-application/ ***IMPORTANT- PLEASE READ*** Our adoption fee is $175. We require an application to be completed prior to setting up a meet-and-greet. We do not offer "on-the-spot" adoptions. We do not adopt on a first-come, first-served basis. We do our best to match dogs with families that will be a good fit to help ensure a successful adoption. We reserve the right to decline any application for any reason. Due to the nature of our adoption process, our fosters are usually only able to consider forever families within a reasonable driving distance of the Dallas-Fort Worth metroplex. A vet reference is required, and a trial period will be completed before finalizing the adoption. Thank you for your understanding.

Story
Chazz is a 9-year-old Dutch shepherd. He is intelligent, energetic, excited, loving and kind. He adores big open spaces, running and long walks. He loves to be right by your side as much as he can and does tend to suffer from some separation anxiety. That being said, I am away from home 10 hrs. per day, and he does fine at home alone until I get back.     As amazing as he is he does have his issues. Chazz does not get along well with other dogs. So, any living situation would require that he be in a single dog home. Additionally, he gets rather frightened when the smoke detector goes of causing him to shake and potentially get inside the bathtub.     Chazz is a quirky fella who is full of energy and youth even in his adult age. He would be best suited in a home with a large yard or even a ranch. He still responds well to training and listens quite well to commands. I’m positive that with some eager attention and care he would be an amazing hunting dog or ranch companion.

Hustle is a young adult, 40 lb Belgian Malinois mix with tons of energy and a big love for adventure. He's happiest running, hiking, or playing with other dogs, movement is his language. Left behind in boarding, Hustle is still learning to trust. He can be shy at first, but with patience and consistency, his loyal, affectionate side comes forward beautifully. He's fully vaccinated and ready for someone who understands active, working‑breed dogs and can offer structure, training, and reassurance. If you're looking for a devoted companion who will bond deeply, Hustle is ready to meet you.
