Story
Animal Profile: Kimber is a beautiful 4-year-old, 54 lb female German Shepherd who was found wandering as a stray and taken to Everett Animal Shelter. When the shelter environment was too stressful for her, we gave her a "jail break" and she's now in our foster care. Kimber has been waiting for a forever home since November of 2021. Please share and help her find her family! Foster Update: Kimber is affectionate and bonds quickly with her person. She is looking for an adopter who is experienced with high-energy dogs and is willing to continue working with her. She loves lounging in the house watching out the windows. Her ideal home environment would be an adult only household with working breed experience and a securely fenced yard. Shes completed a 4 week board and train program with Lugaru K9 Training to address leash reactivity. Kimber can now walk nicely on leash, and knows the following commands: sit, down, place, heel and leave it. She's not a candidate for dog parks as she easily gets over aroused and needs slow intros to other dogs.  Adoption Info: Adoption fee is $550 which includes spay/neuter, all core vaccinations, microchip, heartworm test and health certificate. Your adoption fee may be tax deductible as Dog Gone Seattle is a federal 501c3 organization.  Apply online: www.doggoneseattle.org/adoption-applicationSeptember 28, 2023, 1:25 pm

Story
Animal Profile: Verina is a 4-year-old, 70 lb female German Shepherd who was transferred to our rescue from Whatcom Humane Society. She lost her previous home when her family had to move due to a military assignment and they were unable to bring her along. Foster Updates: Verina, or Vi for short, is an active girl who loves to play. The bigger the stick, the better, in her opinion! When she first arrived in foster care we noticed a few things that made us think she might be deaf. A vet visit confirmed our suspicions, but you wouldn't know that when you first meet her. Verina is very interested in engaging with her people, and loves going for long walks on the property and playing fetch. She could entertain herself for hours outside, and would love to live somewhere she could enjoy her own yard. She is working on her leash manners, and has come a long way with a training collar. She has a good heel position and she makes lots of eye contact with her handler -- whoever is holding the leash -- for guidance in new situations. Vi knows the "place" and "crate" command as well as "sit" and "down". She can be tentative when first meeting new people, but once she opens up you can see her spirit shine. Verina currently lives with another female dog, but is not interested in interaction as she is very people focused. She is working on learning sign language for her commands, and catches on very quickly. Verina will make a loving and loyal companion in her forever home! Adopter Profile: Verina is looking for a family with German Shepherd or working dog experience. She needs to live in a single dog, adult only household with a securely fenced yard. She would love to live with someone that worked from home. Deaf dog experience a plus! Adoption Info:  Adoption fee is $400 which includes spay/neuter, all core vaccinations, microchip, heartworm test. Your adoption fee may be tax deductible as Dog Gone Seattle is a federal 501c3 organization.  Apply online: www.doggoneseattle.org/adoption-application Major was a transfer from Everett Animal Shelter. Story
Animal Profile: Freya is an estimated 3-year-old, 60 lb female German Shepherd who has a lot of love to give. She is smart and loves to work for you. She will thrive with a strong leader --  otherwise she is prone to anxiety. She is house-trained, crate-trained, fully obedience trained and will do best with a shepherd savvy owner capable of providing her with guidance as well as physical and mental stimulation. Freya LOVES to fetch and BALL IS LIFE. She walks well on a leash with a training collar. This loyal and affectionate girl is slow to warm up to new people and will need an owner who is comfortable managing her safe introductions to strangers, but once you earn her trust, she's very eager to please.  Freya has lived with other dogs and loves to play with them; she's good with dogs big and small, male and female. At this time we are prioritizing a home for Freya with a resident dog(s) as we think she would do best in a pack. She's also been tested with cats and exhibits no prey drive, and is amusingly scared of chickens. She is currently living in a home with small children and has done well with them, but we would prefer to place her in an adult only home.  Adopter Profile:  Large dog experience required Shepherd experience preferred Single family residence required (no apartments) Secure fenced yard required Other balanced dog(s) preferred Cats OK No kids preferred Adoption Info: Adoption fee is $400 which includes spay/neuter, all core vaccinations, microchip, heartworm test and health certificate. Your adoption fee may be tax deductible as Dog Gone Seattle is a federal 501c3 organization.  TAKE HOME TRAINING SESSION INCLUDED WITH ADOPTION Apply online: www.doggoneseattle.org/adoption-application Animal History: Freya was found as a stray in Dec 2020 in Tacoma extremely underweight (40 lbs) and very scared. She was taken into Tacoma Humane Society and transferred to Dog Gone Seattle. She was fostered with DGS for several months while she learned basic manners and gained 15 lbs. She was adopted in March 2021 and lived with a caring family. Unfortunately they lived in a condo with no secure yard in a busy urban environment, which proved too challenging for Freya with those particular owners. She was returned to DGS in April 2022 and received a professional board and train with our training partner Seattle K9 Command. She is now being fostered in Bothell and available for adoption in the greater Seattle area.  September 28, 2023, 1:25 pm

Story
Jazzy is an 11-month-old female German Shepherd female who -- along with three siblings -- were abandoned in eastern WA and taken in by Quincy Animal Shelter. They were transferred and will be fostered in Seattle to learn crate and house-training, basic obedience and social skills. We will share more as we get to know them in foster care.   Foster Update:  Jazzy is a beautiful German Shepherd puppy with the personality to match!  She is an active girl who would love to go on adventures with you.  Currently, she's working on basic commands and she is a very quick learner.  She loves people and always wants to be by your side, she especially likes to sleep cuddled next to someone.  Jazzy is dog friendly and likes to play outside with her dog foster brothers. If you're looking for an active puppy who will want to be your best friend and adventure buddy, Jazzy's a wonderful girl! Jazzy will do best in a home with large breed dog experience, a securely fenced yard, and another dog in the home. Jazzy is interested in cats, and wants to chase them so may be best if there are no cats in the home.  Adoption Info:  The adoption fee is $550, which includes spay/neuter, core vaccinations per AVMA standards, flea/tick treatment, deworming, and microchip with lifetime registration. Your adoption fee may be tax deductible as DGS is a 501c3 organization. Animal History: This animal was dumped at less than 4 months in Mattawa WA and taken into Quincy Animal Shelter; WSU was able to provide vetting and they arrived to Dog Gone Seattle Foster care on Thursday 3/9/23. S/he will be available for adoption to the greater Seattle area once evaluated in foster care.   September 28, 2023, 1:25 pm

Good with dogs, Spayed or Neutered,
Story
Animal Profile: Iris is an estimated 1.5-year-old, 65 lb spayed female German Shepherd Rottweiler mix who was surrendered to her trainer by a family who felt ill-equipped to meet her needs and is now available for adoption. Iris currently lives with a pack of dogs and is friendly and playful with all, and is generally not reactive meeting new dogs. She is neutral meeting people and incredibly intelligent with good work ethic. She could make a great sport dog but also has a good chill setting. She is well trained having lived with a professional trainer for over a month now. She is crate trained, leashed trained and has basic obedience training. She would benefit from a secure fenced yard and an active dog savvy home, given her breed. She will be a balanced, loyal and loving companion to a family who can provide leadership, mental/physical stimulation and affection.  Trainer Assessment:  Very sweet and affectionate Good with dogs and cats but has literally stepped on some toes (my smaller dogs don't love her due to her size and puppy clumsiness) Slightly pushy with other dogs but not any more than most dogs her age No aggression with dog savvy cat Would make a great sport dog (not for protection work but potentially Schutzhund) -- agility, fly ball, scent work, dock diving Not so driven that she needs a sport home  Would enjoy a home with another balanced large dog she can continue to learn from and play with Mild natured but confident Tail could be used as a wheat scythe (RIP favorite coffee mug) Not overly vocal but very loud when she does bark -- will bark intermittently during play sessions Stranger danger barks in reasonable situations (have not corrected this) Engaged, handler aware, stable, steady, good off switch Loves ball, toys, tugs, flirt pole Lures like a dream Happy to train Good in the car and crate Responds to verbal commands/corrections Familiar with e-collar but will respond to tone for correction  Adopter Profile: Large breed experience required Secure fenced yard preferred Balanced dogs OK Dog savvy cats considered Foster Updates: Stay tuned for details. Adoption Info: Iris's adoption fee is $400, which includes spay, core vaccinations per AVMA standards, and microchip with lifetime registration. Your adoption fee may be tax deductible as DGS is a 501c3 organization. Animal History: Iris was surrendered to Lugaru K9 Training by a family who could not meet her working breed needs in April 2023; she is currently being fostered in Port Angeles and available for adoption in the greater Seattle area. September 28, 2023, 1:25 pm

Story
Leia is the perfect, 2-year-old, 70-pound German Shepherd. She is in a foster home with 2 other big dogs and a small dog. She loves to play in the backyard with both of the bigger dogs but is a little scared of the little guy and stays away from him! Some of her favorite things are hanging out with her human foster siblings, cuddling with her foster parents on the couch while getting belly rubs and sleeping with any of them at night. But, her all time favorite thing is her rope toy! She is always entertained by a good game of tug-a-war! If you've been waiting for the perfect big bundle of cuddle, here is your chance to have one of your very own!! Please be aware that all of our pets are in foster care in South Texas. They are transported to their new homes once adopted. We are 100% volunteer based, so it could take a day or 2 before we are able to process an application. Story
Toby is a 5-6 year old, 90-100lb Shepherd mix who is looking for his perfect forever home. Toby was abused in his past and due to this will need a very specific family. He is very sweet and loyal with his people once he is bonded. Toby is looking for a home that has a fully fenced yard out of the city. Somewhere rural and quiet would be perfect for him! He prefers women to men and can take some time to trust men. His ideal home would be female only, but could do ok with a female/male couple if the man was patient and could build trust with him. Toby needs a home without kids and other animals. No other dogs or cats. Toby can walk fine on leash around other dogs but needs to be the only dog in the home. Toby loves to run and play and will love to spend time with his people in his backyard soaking up the sun and running around. Toby is neutered, UTD on shots and microchipped. His adoption fee is $200.

Story
Meet Murphy! He’s an energetic, playful boy who can often be found with a toy in his mouth. He really enjoys playing with other dogs, so he’d do best in a home with another dog to be friends with. He’s fully house broken and sits on command. He’s great with other dogs, and does ok with cats. Murphy is about 2 years old and weighs 70 pounds. He’s a little shy at first, and he’s protective of his people, but he adjusts. He is a lover and walks very well on a leash. He enjoys being pet, but he doesn’t lick, jump on people or get on the bed. He’s comfortable relaxing on the floor near his people and will bring you his toys when he wants to play.IMPORTANT: Please read all below, especially if you live outside of Texas, which is where our rescue is located.Apply to adopt on our website: https://www.charmingpetrescue.org/adoptAll of our animals are spayed/neutered, microchipped, and up to date on shots.ALL of our animals are located in Boerne, TX, but transport after adoption is available to other states for a $300 fee for dogs or an additional fee varying by location for cats. If you are seeing our pets posted in your state, that's because you live near a transport stop, they are not currently at that location. Petfinder lists our pets as ''Out of Town'' pets at other locations, and Adopt-a-Pet lists our location as a Transport stop. Those are currently the only options they offer to make this clear, so we put this description we've put at the bottom to explain it. You can read more about transport here: www.charmingpetrescue.org/transportWe understand transport is not an option for everyone, but we offer it at the cost we pay the transport company for those who wish to adopt from us.September 28, 2023, 3:15 pm
