***NOTE: This pet is currently at the shelter in Republic, WA, and can be delivered to an approved adopter on our 5/2/26 adopted pet transport to Monroe, WA to begin a 30-day trial placement – part of our distance adoption program.*** Considering adopting? The first step is to complete our online Adoption Application at http://forgetmenotshelter.org/application Please do not call the shelter; do the application first. Meet Scooter, the ultimate "best of both worlds" dog who is ready to sprint straight into your heart! This stunning year-old Golden Retriever and German Shepherd mix makes everyone smile with his vibrant personality. Scooter is the perfect age to start a lifetime of adventures, combining the legendary loyalty of a Shepherd with the goofy, sunshine-filled heart of a Golden. Scooter is a high-energy athlete, currently a 60-pound fun-seeking missile, who believes life is one giant game of fetch. Whether you are looking for a dedicated hiking partner or a champion zoomie-competitor for your backyard, this boy is up for the task. Because he is such a smart doggo, he’ll thrive in a home that can keep his mind as busy as his paws through training, puzzles, and plenty of outdoor play. He is a "blank slate" teenager just waiting for a family to teach him the ropes and turn all that youthful enthusiasm into refined skill. While his energy is boundless, his favorite place to be is right by your side. After a long day of exploring, Scooter’s affectionate side takes over, and he’s more than happy to settle in for some serious ear scratches and belly rubs. Leash training has begun for Scooter, along with working on sitting and waiting rather than rocketing through any open door. You will want to continue his training on the basics to help him become the best dog he can be! Scooter is housetrained, though does occasionally suffer from some "excitement urination." This is something he will likely outgrow as he becomes a fully adult dog over the next year; having a stable home, family, and routine will also help! He was surrendered through no fault of his own and is now looking for an active household that can match his zest for life. Scooter is good with other dogs outside the home, but prefers not to share his people with another in-home doggo. He is NOT a friend to cats, and, though he LOVES small children, he's a bit too much dog for toddlers, who would be like bowling pins facing Cooter's ball of enthusiasm. So, while he would enjoy the occasional play date with another dog, we recommend he be the only pet in the family, with children old enough to stand up if he runs into them! If you have the space in your home and your heart for a smart, spirited, and soulful companion, come meet Scooter today and see if you’re the perfect match for this golden-hearted Shepherd! All pets arrive spayed/neutered, dewormed, microchipped and vaccinated. Adoption fee for Scooter is a suggested minimum of $150 (more gratefully accepted). All pets are placed with a 30-day money-back trial period, to give pet and family enough time to discover any unknown allergies or other conflicts. Can't come to Republic? Don't let that stop you! We have monthly transports to the Seattle area, delivering adopted pets to their new owners. If you can add a little to your donation to help us cover our volunteer driver's expenses, that would be great!

⸻ Meet Ryder! 🐾 Ryder is a loyal, expressive Belgian Malinois Shepherd mix puppy who absolutely loves life and can’t wait to explore the Pacific Northwest with you! An avid birdwatcher with an elegant stride, Ryder is an outdoor enthusiast who thrives on fresh air and adventure. At 6½ months old and 50 lbs, he still has just a hint of that irresistible puppy smell. Mostly jet black with touches of grey on his legs and between his toes, Ryder has ultra-soft, pointy ears, a healthy, sleek coat, and some truly hilarious facial expressions. His movement is just as entertaining—he takes his exercise seriously, especially his legendary “big stretch,” and is an impressive little contortionist with yoga-level flexibility. Ryder is an intelligent, curious boy with a strong nose and a blossoming love for following scent trails—he would be an excellent candidate for scent work or nose games in the future. He’s eager to please, highly food-motivated, and loves engaging with his people. Ryder loves: • Kong and Chuck It toys • Frozen lick mats and frozen snacks • Watching birds, bunnies, and squirrels in the park • Happy dancing when you get home • Riding in the car • Getting dried off with a towel after rainy walks • Snuggling up with you after a long adventure • Playing tug and chasing his ball (fetch is still a work in progress 😉) Ryder genuinely enjoys training and has already been working on heel, sit, down, place, and stay, and would love to continue learning with a committed adopter—rain or shine. Ryder’s foster, Matt, a professional trainer with Tailored K9 Solutions, has him enrolled in a Trupanion pet insurance policy, which may be transferred to the adopter at the time of adoption if desired. While all Malinois are remarkable dogs, Ryder truly stands out with his uniquely happy temperament, snuggly side, and endlessly entertaining mannerisms—he’s one of those dogs you simply have to meet to fully appreciate. Ryder is ready to find his forever home with a family as loyal to him as he is to them. Could that be you? Fenced yard required. 🐶 Meet Ryder today! Apply online: washingtonGSD.org

Story
Meet Winter! ❄️ Winter, a 6 month old German Shepherd mix, truly lives up to his name—he’s a calm, gentle sweetheart with a soft soul. While he can be a bit shy at first, with patience (and a few tasty treats!), he warms up and begins to enjoy affection and companionship. Winter is growing more confident every day, and as he does, his playful and goofy personality is starting to shine through. He loves playing with his foster sibling, relaxing on the couch, and, of course, enjoying his favorite treats. He is fully potty trained and sleeps quietly through the night in his crate like a perfect gentleman. Winter is currently working on leash training and making great progress. True to his German Shepherd nature, he loves being close to his people and likes to keep track of where everyone is in the home. Winter does wonderful with cats and politely ignores them. He would thrive in a calm, structured household with a patient adopter who understands shy pups and is willing to continue building his confidence. Having another confident dog in the home would help him feel even more secure. With time, love, and encouragement, Winter will blossom into an incredibly loyal, loving, and devoted companion—the kind of dog who will always want to be right by your side. Fenced yard required.
