Story
I bought Maggie a year and a half ago. I trained her daily and she only struggled with barking when passing another dog. I took her to Petcos puppy class and realized she was barking because she was afraid. In September, I was diagnosed with MDS, a serious blood cancer. I was hospitalized, had a bone marrow transplant, and am slowly recovering. Of course, I had to have my sister take Maggie for a while, then my niece, and back to me, but I was too weak to get her the exercise she needed. I still can barely walk a mile with her. I do take her to a dog park almost daily and she’s good with my cocker spaniel puppies. While I was going through treatment my son and his two dogs moved into my house, for about two months, and when Maggie finally came home, she and my son's dog got in a bad fight, and my confused puppy hurt my sons dog. Now he insists I rehome her. It’s killing me, but I need his help with my disease. If you’re interested in giving her the home she deserves, please respond.

Story
Animal Profile: Kimber is a beautiful 5-year-old, 54 lb female German Shepherd who was found wandering as a stray and taken to Everett Animal Shelter. When the shelter environment was too stressful for her, we gave her a "jail break" and she's now in our foster care. Kimber has been waiting for a forever home since November 2021. Please share and help her find her forever family! Foster Update: Kimber is affectionate and bonds quickly with her person. She is looking for an adopter who is experienced with high-energy dogs and is willing to continue working with her. She loves lounging in the house and looking out the windows. Her ideal home environment would be an adult-only household with working breed experience and a securely fenced yard. She has completed a 4-week board and train program with Lugaru K9 Training to address leash reactivity. Kimber can now walk nicely on leash and knows the following commands: sit, down, place, heel and leave it. She's not a candidate for dog parks as she easily gets over aroused and needs slow introductions to other dogs.  Adoption Info: Adoption fee is $550 which includes spay/neuter, all core vaccinations, microchip, heartworm test and health certificate. Your adoption fee may be tax deductible as Dog Gone Seattle is a federal 501c3 organization.  Apply online: www.doggoneseattle.org/adoption-applicationJuly 26, 2024, 1:04 pm

Story
Animal Profile: Freya is an estimated 4-year-old, 60 lb female German Shepherd who has a lot of love to give. She is smart and loves to work for you. She will thrive with a strong leader --  otherwise she is prone to anxiety. She is house trained, crate trained, fully obedience trained and will do best with a Shepherd-savvy owner capable of providing her with guidance as well as physical and mental stimulation. Freya LOVES to fetch and BALL IS LIFE. She walks well on a leash with a training collar. This loyal and affectionate girl is slow to warm up to new people and will need an owner who is comfortable managing her safe introductions to strangers, but once you earn her trust, she's very eager to please. Freya has lived with other dogs and loves to play with them; she's good with dogs big and small, male and female. At this time we are prioritizing a home for Freya with a resident dog(s) as we think she would do best in a pack. She's also been tested with cats and exhibits no prey drive, and is amusingly scared of chickens. She is currently living in a home with small children and has done well with them, but we would prefer to place her in an adult-only home.  Adopter Profile:  Large dog experience required Shepherd experience preferred Single family residence required (no apartments) Secure fenced yard required Other balanced dog(s) preferred Cats OK No kids preferred Adoption Info: Adoption fee is $400 which includes spay/neuter, all core vaccinations, microchip, heartworm test and health certificate. Your adoption fee may be tax deductible as Dog Gone Seattle is a federal 501c3 organization.  TAKE HOME TRAINING SESSION INCLUDED WITH ADOPTION Apply online: www.doggoneseattle.org/adoption-application Animal History: Freya was found as a stray in Dec 2020 in Tacoma extremely underweight (40 lbs) and very scared. She was taken into Tacoma Humane Society and transferred to Dog Gone Seattle. She was fostered with DGS for several months while she learned basic manners and gained 15 lbs. She was adopted in March 2021 and lived with a caring family. Unfortunately they lived in a condo with no secure yard in a busy urban environment, which proved too challenging for Freya with those particular owners. She was returned to DGS in April 2022 and received a professional board and train with our training partner Seattle K9 Command. She is now being fostered in Bothell and available for adoption in the greater Seattle area.  July 26, 2024, 1:04 pm

Story
Jazzy is an 18-month-old female German Shepherd  who -- along with her three siblings -- was abandoned in eastern WA and taken in by Quincy Animal Shelter. They were transferred and will be fostered in Seattle to learn crate and house training, basic obedience and social skills. We will share more as we get to know Jazzy in foster care.   Foster Update: Jazzy is a beautiful German Shepherd pup with the personality to match! She is an active girl who would love to go on adventures with you. She loves people and always wants to be by your side. She especially likes to sleep cuddled up next to someone. Jazzy is dog friendly and likes to play outside with her foster dog brothers. If you're looking for an active pup who will want to be your best friend and adventure buddy, Jazzy's a wonderful girl! She will do best in a home with large-breed dog experience, a securely fenced yard, and another dog in the home. Jazzy is interested in cats, and wants to chase them so may be best if there are no cats in the home.  Adoption Info:  The adoption fee is $550, which includes spay/neuter, core vaccinations per AVMA standards, flea/tick treatment, deworming, and microchip with lifetime registration. Your adoption fee may be tax deductible as DGS is a 501c3 organization. Animal History: This animal was dumped at less than 4 months in Mattawa WA and taken into Quincy Animal Shelter; WSU was able to provide vetting and they arrived to Dog Gone Seattle Foster care on Thursday 3/9/23. S/he will be available for adoption to the greater Seattle area once evaluated in foster care.   July 26, 2024, 1:04 pm

Story
Animal Proflie: Petra is an estimated 4-to-5-year-old 65lb  spayed female German Shepherd who is sadly in need of a new home, due to no fault of her own. This wonderful girl is the Trifecta -- good with dogs, cats, and kids. She has lived happily with her family until her older owner got Long Covid and then an unexpected cancer diagnosis, which left them feeling like they couldn't give her the attention and exercise she needed. Upon evaluation, Petra was social and friendly meeting strangers including children, and has positive interactions and experience with kids as young as five. She is friendly and non-reactive with other dogs. She is playful with cats -- not aggressive -- and would love to groom them, but would be overwhelming for a cat that was not dog savvy. She does pull on leash if allowed and will require a confident handler. She is house-trained and crate-trained though she is non-destructive outside of the crate. She currently doesn't get much exercise and would probably enjoy more. She has no known health issues, no food intolerances or known allergies, and no sign of any orthopedic issues. This girl is truly a gem and we are so looking forward to finding her a loving home for the rest of her days.  Foster Update:  Petra has settled in well and is very sweet!   She has a good amount of energy, so will be best with adopters who are active and have time to tire her out. She walks well on leash with a training collar, but does best with a confident handler as she is strong and does pull at times. She is calm in her crate and is happy to snuggle up with her people. She enjoys playing with the other dogs at her foster's and may do best with another dog in her forever home. Since settling into her foster home,   Petra has demonstrated some territorial behaviors and general nervousness with meeting new people, however with appropriate introductions she warms up quite quickly.  Petra is such a sweet girl who would love a home with an active family! Adoption Info: Adoption fee is $550.:Petra is spayed, up to date with core vaccinations per AVMA standards, microchipped, and has a recent visit with a veterinarian . Your adoption fee may be tax deductible as Dog Gone Seattle is a 501c3 organization. Apply Online: www.doggoneseattle.org/adoption-application Animal History: Petra was rescued from Visalia Animal Shelter in 2021 by K9R&R and adopted to an older couple in Washington. She has lived with them for the last two years but now due to medical reasons can no longer provide the level of care they desire, and K9R&R cannot take her back. So she is with Dog Gone Seattle in foster care and will be available for adoption to the greater Seattle area. July 26, 2024, 1:04 pm

Story
Animal Profile: Jerry is a friendly 3-year-old German Shepherd that was adopted from another organization in 2023. Unfortunately, his owner's circumstances have changed and Jerry is being left alone far more often than he likes. Jerry’s owner contacted us for help when the original rescue was unable to assist with rehoming Jerry. We met and evaluated him, and had to help this sweet boy find a family that has more time to meet his needs. Jerry is a social, friendly pup who’s lived with other dogs and children. He’s completed a 5-week board and train with Amani K9 and is very well trained. His adoption also includes a take-home lesson with his trainer. Jerry is house trained, crate trained, and knows all of his basic commands reliably. He’s easy to introduce to new dogs, and has frequented dog parks in his area. Jerry will be a wonderful companion for a family with large-breed experience. He will do best in a single family dwelling, no apartments.    Foster Update Coming soon! Adoption Info: Adoption fee is $550 which includes spay, core vaccinations per AVMA standards, negative heartworm test, health certificate, and microchip with lifetime registration.
