Please contact Greyhound Pets, Inc. Juniper is a happy, friendly, adorable girl.  She is affectionate and playful!!  She loves to play ball!!  Juniper loves to hang out with you or play in the yard.  She is affectionate and loves to give kisses once she knows you.  Some people scare her, but once she knows you she is darling and playful.  She is so eager to please.  Juniper will need a home with a fenced yard.  Juniper found herself as a young pup in a shelter in California.  She was adopted and then found herself back at the shelter after she was hit by a car.  She then made her way to us as a 'greyhound mix'.  She is beyond darling and is so deserving of a true forever home.  She has a slight head tilt (adorable) and has some hip dysplasia which may need surgery (but that is not a given) as she ages, but now she is absolutely happy and playful.  We did a DNA test on Juniper and we were amazed to see that her mix is 45% German Shepherd, 42% American Staffordshire Terrier, 11% American Pit Bull Terrier and 2% Australian Cattle Dog.  We would never have guessed that she had any Terrier in her - she is a gentle, sweet soul and has a coat more like a Labrador or short coated Golden Retriever.  And while her 'greyhound' roots are not to be found, she is an adorable member of our GPI family and we can't wait to find this darling girl her forever home.  Juniper has made great progress in addressing the reactivity issues and she is expected to continue to make great strides with consistent training.  Juniper is a past Dog of the Month: https://www.greyhoundpetsinc.org/juniper-march-dog-of-the-month-copy/ Sponsored by Kristy Spray Sponsored by Kathleen Meyers, in memory of Roxy. Story
If you`re ready to meet your very best friend and adventure buddy, your wait is over! Marina is a super friendly, spunky, and wonderful 1-year-old Husky mix and she`s ready to share life with you. Marina enjoys playing with toys, playing tag with other dogs, going for hikes and walks, and snuggling up to her humans when it`s time to nap. She will even use your arm as a pillow! Marina is looking for a family that can keep up with her pep and be able to provide her with plenty of daily exercise, mental enrichment, and socialization. Marina does awesome with other dogs but can get overly excited and have a hard time settling down. And resident dogs should be able to match her playstyle and energy. Marina will likely do best in a home without cats. Marina can be jumpy and rowdy when she`s playing or overly excited and is looking for a home with just older, dog-experienced kids, closer to their teen years. Due to her energy levels, Marina is not a fit for an apartment or condo. If you`re ready to welcome home this special girl, send in an adoption application today! #activelifestyle #playful

Story
Tall dog fans, come meet Ace! This 1-year-old German Shepherd mix is tall, handsome, and tons of fun. Ace is looking for an active family who can give him plenty of daily exercise, play, and mental enrichment. He will make an awesome hiking partner, though with his long legs he`ll be able to scale the trails easier than you! Ace hasn`t lived with other dogs but enjoys playing with them, and any introductions to resident pups should be done slowly. He hasn`t lived with cats before. Because Ace is a big puppy, he can sometimes play rowdy and will likely do best with just dog-experienced older kids. If you`re ready to welcome home this great guy, make an adoption appointment today! #playful #activelifestyle

Story
Buddy is around 5 years old, 94 lbs black German Shepherd (50%), American Bully (35%), and Pit Bull Terrier (15%) mix, per Embark; 45% GSD, 38% Staffordshire Terrier, and 12 % Pit Bull Terrier mix, per Wisdom Panel. He was used either as a bait dog and/or a fighting dog and was badly mauled - lips, tongue, right eyelid; front teeth are ground to practically nothing (due to gnawing on cage bars); right front leg bones were broken (starts limping if he has a long walk).  He's been through a lot but is incredibly friendly with people.  Craves human company and cries when alone.  We have to keep him locked in a separate room b/c of our cat and small dog. This dog will be an incredible companion in a single pet family. He is very responsive to love and returns it hundredfold. These pups will likely do well with older kids who can handle them gently and are comfortable around large, wiggly puppies. If you’re ready to add some fun to your life, adopt one of these pups today! *These puppies are currently in a foster home and are not located in the shelter.#playful #activelifestyle

Story
Kelly is a 1-year-old German Shepherd/Jindo Mix who was rescued from a shelter that performs euthanasia. She had been taken there with her siblings, and while her siblings were adopted by other families, Kelly remained at the shelter. She was rescued just before euthanasia was performed. She is currently living in a foster home with cats and small children. She is friendly enough to approach cats and invite them to play, and she is gentle and kind with children. She is a little afraid of adult men, but if you give her plenty of time and approach her slowly, she can warm up quickly. She gets along well with other dogs and has a caring nature. She avoids conflict with other dogs, especially small dogs when they bark or become vicious. Kelly rarely barks inside the house, and may bark a few times if a stranger visits, but responds well to commands to stop. She is fully potty trained to only relieve herself outdoors. She has a calm demeaner and does not run or make a fuss indoors. Kelly is a wonderful dog with a neat personality who can get along well with other animals. If you give her time to warm up, she'll surely share much love with you. Be part of Kelly's caring and loving family. Story
Animal Profile: Kimber is a beautiful 5-year-old, 54 lb female German Shepherd who was found wandering as a stray and taken to Everett Animal Shelter. When the shelter environment was too stressful for her, we gave her a "jail break" and she's now in our foster care. Kimber has been waiting for a forever home since November 2021. Please share and help her find her forever family! Foster Update: Kimber is affectionate and bonds quickly with her person. She is looking for an adopter who is experienced with high-energy dogs and is willing to continue working with her. She loves lounging in the house and looking out the windows. Her ideal home environment would be an adult-only household with working breed experience and a securely fenced yard. She has completed a 4-week board and train program with Lugaru K9 Training to address leash reactivity. Kimber can now walk nicely on leash and knows the following commands: sit, down, place, heel and leave it. She's not a candidate for dog parks as she easily gets over aroused and needs slow introductions to other dogs.  Adoption Info: Adoption fee is $550 which includes spay/neuter, all core vaccinations, microchip, heartworm test and health certificate. Your adoption fee may be tax deductible as Dog Gone Seattle is a federal 501c3 organization.  Apply online: www.doggoneseattle.org/adoption-applicationDecember 6, 2024, 11:33 am

Story
Animal Profile: Freya is an estimated 4-year-old, 60 lb female German Shepherd who has a lot of love to give. She is smart and loves to work for you. She will thrive with a strong leader --  otherwise she is prone to anxiety. She is house trained, crate trained, fully obedience trained and will do best with a Shepherd-savvy owner capable of providing her with guidance as well as physical and mental stimulation. Freya LOVES to fetch and BALL IS LIFE. She walks well on a leash with a training collar. This loyal and affectionate girl is slow to warm up to new people and will need an owner who is comfortable managing her safe introductions to strangers, but once you earn her trust, she's very eager to please. Freya has lived with other dogs and loves to play with them; she's good with dogs big and small, male and female. At this time we are prioritizing a home for Freya with a resident dog(s) as we think she would do best in a pack. She's also been tested with cats and exhibits no prey drive, and is amusingly scared of chickens. She is currently living in a home with small children and has done well with them, but we would prefer to place her in an adult-only home.  Adopter Profile:  Large dog experience required Shepherd experience preferred Single family residence required (no apartments) Secure fenced yard required Other balanced dog(s) preferred Cats OK No kids preferred Adoption Info: Adoption fee is $400 which includes spay/neuter, all core vaccinations, microchip, heartworm test and health certificate. Your adoption fee may be tax deductible as Dog Gone Seattle is a federal 501c3 organization.  TAKE HOME TRAINING SESSION INCLUDED WITH ADOPTION Apply online: www.doggoneseattle.org/adoption-application Animal History: Freya was found as a stray in Dec 2020 in Tacoma extremely underweight (40 lbs) and very scared. She was taken into Tacoma Humane Society and transferred to Dog Gone Seattle. She was fostered with DGS for several months while she learned basic manners and gained 15 lbs. She was adopted in March 2021 and lived with a caring family. Unfortunately they lived in a condo with no secure yard in a busy urban environment, which proved too challenging for Freya with those particular owners. She was returned to DGS in April 2022 and received a professional board and train with our training partner Seattle K9 Command. She is now being fostered in Bothell and available for adoption in the greater Seattle area.  November 16, 2024, 12:23 am

Story
Animal Profile: Leo fka Robb is an estimated 3-year-old male Shepherd mix who was adopted as a young puppy after we accepted him from California where he was found as a stray in a Chino dumping zone along with his sibling Sansa and mom Catelyn. He joined us in Seattle on 10/10, along with Sansa and Catelyn. Leo was returned to the rescue after a couple of years due to a divorce in the family, lacking socialization and training. He was fostered with a trainer for several weeks and is now thriving and ready for a loving forever home.  Seattle Foster Update: Leo has progressed well in his time with us as a foster. When Leo arrived to us from training he was moderately reactive, but quickly blossomed to a friendly, tail wagging, bouncy boy. Leo is in a word eccentric. He is a cuddle bug and a hermit and assumes the oddest positions imaginable to get close to his owners. He is crate trained perfectly and enjoys the safe environment the crate provides for him. If you’re unwilling to give Leo a crate then you’re not the right home for him. He needs his escape and downtime to be the best boy. Leo warms up slowly to new people and dogs, and his new owners should be selective in dog introductions as he will react if confronted and doesn’t like in your face dog encounters. He plays well with male Collie and male Malinois and he has a firm truce with our selective female Bulldog. He lives with our cats and is completely disinterested in them. So, cat friendly. Leo will never be a dog park dog. So no dog parks. We don’t have kids in the household so don’t have awareness there. He has no food aggression but he's still working on taking treats gently. Leo will be a great hiking buddy and walks beautifully on leash. He doesn’t have marked stranger danger but again the policy will likely be "please don’t pet my dog without proper introductions." Adopter Profile: Dog experience required Fenced yard required Other dog/dogs in the home a plus Cats okay Older kids okay Adoption Info: Adoption fee is $500, which includes spay/neuter, current rabies/DAPPV/bordetella vaccinations, microchip, health certificate, and heartworm test. All adoption fees are donations to a Washington non-profit corporation and all donations go to benefit the animals in our rescue.  Apply online at www.DogGoneSeattle.org  November 6, 2024, 5:36 pm
