Story
I was purchased from a backyard breeder and when my owners needed help and wanted to return me, she refused to take me back. I am not house trained, and I play too rough for a home with small children. My owners cared enough that they drove me over 2 hours to get to the rescue so that I can find the right forever home. Until then I have tons of toys to play with and as soon as I get some vaccinations I can play with the other dogs, until then I have cats to play with. Update 10/7: Great News I am NOW ready for adoption!!! Grandma says I get to pick who I want to live with, and I am going to be picky because I plan on living a very long and happy life!! Plus, Grandma said since I love laying on furniture so very much that I MUST be allowed on furniture and if you do not want a 150-pound dog laying on your furniture then I am NOT the Dane for you!! Please do not forget I am a puppy and I cannot hold it 8 hours, I will need to go potty during the day so someone MUST be home or able to come home for me! Interested in adopting me? I was picked up dodging traffic on a busy highway in Miami County. I was scared, hungry and looking for my owners. A nice person picked me up and took me to the Miami County Animal Shelter. Although they treated me great, I was so scared they quickly realized I needed to come to Harlequin Haven. The next day I was here!! I have a soft bed, tons of toys and I will be fed every few hours until I gain my weight. Story
I was found roaming the country roads in Adams County. I was scared and very hungry when a nice man stopped and picked me up. It turns out he was the Adams County Dog Warden. At first, they did not realize that I had a sight impairment and they just assumed I was scared of everything. Then they noticed my eyes looked funny. Unfortunately, being a rural county animal shelter, they do not have funds for medical care, so they decided I needed to come to a rescue. Well, here I am at Harlequin Haven and loving life!! I just arrived yesterday morning and I already have an appointment to see the Vet first thing tomorrow morning!! I just want to thank the dog warden and the employees at the shelter for keeping me safe!! I hope my previous owners see this because I want to thank them for dumping a sight impaired puppy on the road and not being man/woman enough to make sure I was in a safe place. I do believe in karma and one day you will get yours! Update 11/20: I went to the Vet this morning and it was what the rescue expected. I am not 100% blind, but I have very limited sight. I have Congenital Optic Nerve Abnormality; the vet believes it is hereditary since I am so young. Unfortunately, there is nothing that can be done to fix it. Update 11/21: I added some new pictures of me below so you could see how handsome I am!! Our adoption area is Ohio and extreme Northern Kentucky We do not adopt to any other areas, no exceptions. Story
I was purchased from a Pet Store when I was a puppy and then last year my mom died although she had a big family no one really wanted me until a nephew stepped up and took me into his home. Although he tried to make it work, he was working too many hours, and I was locked up in the house for hours on end. Finally, he decided I needed a better home, so he called Harlequin Haven and they agreed to take me. I was a bit nervous when I arrived, but Malcom and Porter welcomed me and have been great showing me around! I also have a nice soft bed and tons of toys to play with. Update 3/24: OMG I found the GREATEST TOY EVER!! Grandma calls it a Wubba and I LOVE it!!! Grandma wanted to take my picture with one but I was having to much fun!!
