Story
Ginger is a well-behaved sweet husky who is about 10 years old. She is around 80 pounds but has been losing weight recently due to careful diet and exercise. She loves walks and walks well on leash. Ginger has been in her current home for 5 months, having been rehomed by a relative because of health issues. Unfortunately Ginger's prey drive led her to attack and injure the family cat and they are no longer compatible. The best new home for Ginger would have no cats, small dogs nor small children to be safe. Ginger came to her current home with a bladder control problem which was easily fixed with medication which she needs to remain on. She also takes medication for arthritis. If adopted Ginger would come with several months on her medication. Thanks for considering Ginger if you are looking to help an older dog with a good home.

Story
Meet Poncho, a remarkable 4.5-year-old Husky/Shepherd mix who’s searching for his forever home. Rescued from a high-kill shelter after his previous owner had to move and couldn’t take him along, Poncho is a unique and lovable companion with a heart of gold. Poncho is a good-natured and sweet dog who does well with middle to large dogs and is incredibly intelligent. He prefers to spend most of his time outside and doesn’t seek out cuddles or furniture, but he shows his affection in his own special ways. His high energy levels and need for mental stimulation mean he thrives with proper exercise and engaging activities. Ideal for someone who works from home, Poncho doesn’t like to be alone and may struggle with separation, especially at first. He can be a bit vocal, giving you an earful as huskies are known to do, but his charming personality and loving nature make him an exceptional companion. Poncho is a special dog who will bring joy and loyalty to the right home. If you’re looking for a unique and devoted friend who’s ready to become a cherished part of your life, Poncho is the one for you.

Meet Teddy, a spirited 3-year-old Husky mix with a zest for life! This energetic and playful girl is looking for a home where she can truly shine. She also has a soft side and enjoys cuddling, making her a well-rounded companion. With no medical concerns and a friendly disposition, Teddy would thrive in a home with another large dog or with someone who is home most of the time, as she doesn't like being alone. Story
Puppies are a lot of fun, but also a lot of responsibility! Things you should be aware of before adopting a puppy from the Denver Animal Shelter:* Puppies will need regular socialization. The critical time period for socialization is between 8 and 16 weeks, but it is important to continue to socialize your new pup throughout their young life. This means having positive and enjoyable interactions with as many new people, new dogs, and new environments as possible. Appropriate socialization will help puppies grow into healthier and more social adults.* They will not know what is appropriate to chew on, where they should go to the bathroom, and how to behave in all situations. Puppies require a lot of time spent on training, management, and supervision. It is recommended that puppies be crate trained or kept in a puppy-proofed room of the house with appropriate chew toys and enrichment when not actively supervised. The Denver Animal Shelter always recommends positive reinforcement-based training methods. * Puppies in a shelter environment often have unknown parentage. While we make our best guesses on size and breed, we cannot guarantee their adult temperament, behavior, size, or characteristics.

Story
Do you speak Husky? Are you looking for a companion for your existing dog(s)? If you said yes to those two, have a secured yard and minimal stairs then Buttercup is the girl for you! Buttercup is a silly older girl that thrives with other animals around. She has her husky pack mentality and loves to roam in her backyard with her friends. She does NOT like to be separated from her pack. She hasn’t met a dog she doesn’t like and doesn’t want to play with. She’s a lady of luxury that appreciates her peace and quiet but loves (aka requires) her afternoon walks. She’s warming up to people and the world but still very shy and needs someone who’s calm and patient in that department. She most likely lived her life as an outside dog with little socialization to the outside world and would do well in a home that has either a dedicated dog area or an indoor/outdoor set up for her to go back and forth between. Musts:Fully secure yardOther dog(s)Quiet house, not a lot going on or people coming and goingSomeone with patienceUnderstands the husky breed & that she’s a senior dogMINIMAL STAIRS ##2673330##
