Story
Badger was supposed to quietly die at the shelter. He was listed as an 8-year-old husky mix and when he first arrived here, I honestly thought he was even older and possibly a hospice case. He was stiff, skinny, frozen in fear, and barely moved. But once I put him with younger dogs, something changed. Little by little, Badger started acting young again. He started following the other dogs around, exploring the property, splashing in the pond, and rediscovering happiness. Now he feels like an entirely different dog. I do not know his exact age, but I genuinely believe he is younger than the shelter estimated and he clearly still has a lot of life left in him. Badger now weighs around 60 lbs and is an awesome dog to live with. He walks well on leash, is extremely food motivated, and loves being part of daily life. He is also incredibly good with other dogs and especially gentle with puppies. He lets them climb all over him and will even let them steal his food without reacting. He did eventually figure out how to climb out of the 6-foot chain link kennel, because husky. But unlike a typical husky, he has absolutely no desire to run off or disappear. He mostly stays near the kennel area, follows me on walks, or goes down to the pond for a quick dip before coming back. I honestly don’t even put him up when I leave because he simply doesn’t go anywhere. Badger does great with other dogs overall, though because of his size and goofy personality, he would probably do best with dogs that are confident and not easily intimidated. He is fine with my tiny Chihuahuas because they are bossy and fearless, but very nervous little dogs may get overwhelmed by him simply because he does not fully understand how big he is. Good fit: someone looking for a loyal, goofy, easygoing companion who still has plenty of life and adventure left in him without the nonstop chaos of a young husky. Adoption process: All adoptions are completed prior to transport. Dogs are picked up at designated transport locations. If an adoption doesn’t work out (rare, but life happens), we always take our dogs back. Location: Oklahoma (available to approved out-of-state adopters via transport) Health: Fully vetted (neutered/spayed, vaccinated, microchipped, heartworm tested) Adoption fee: $450 (includes transport + vetting) Bonus: Each adoption includes a 30-minute phone consultation with a professional trainer Transport routes: WA, OR, ID, MT, UT, WY, CO, MN, WI, IA, IL, IN, OH, PA, NY, NJ Think you might be a good fit? Story
Genialina Edy Son is a gorgeous Husky/Shepherd mix who is remarkably smart and naturally curious about the world around her. She is a highly focused, treat-motivated student who picks up on new things incredibly fast, making training a wonderful way to build a deep bond with her. While she can be a bit shy and sensitive when meeting new people, her deep desire for human connection is instantly clear. She genuinely wants to be close to you. At busy adoption events or in hectic settings, sudden noises can occasionally startle her. Initially, she might drop to her belly or look for a secure spot to process things, but her gentle heart stays wide open. She rebounds by looking to her handlers for reassurance, leaning in for sweet kisses, and accepting soothing words or a tasty snack. We are so looking forward to watching this sweet girl blossom in a home environment. A quiet routine will help her find her footing initially, but her resilient Husky-Shepherd energy means she could easily grow to love a more active lifestyle once she feels confident. Having a backyard would be ideal for her, giving her a familiar, private area to explore and play freely. She is still learning the ropes of leash walking, and with a little patience, she will make a wonderful walking partner. Because she is a sensitive young dog, slow and steady introductions to other canine friends are recommended. She is a truly special companion who just needs a patient family to help her feel secure so she can share her full heart.

Story
A note from my foster:Cloud Dancer came to the shelter along with his littermates as anundersocialized puppy. When I first met him, I was unable to even touch him. He was nippy when he first went to foster. I decided to bring him and his sister Peri home to foster.Through patience and his love of treats,we came to the understanding that he does love attention but will not admit to it.Cloud loves, loves, loves other dogs. His adopter must love dogs too andalso have a dog in home for Cloud to love.Small kids would probably not be a good fit. He should not go to a home with kids under 13 years old. Cloud prefers the soft, quietapproach from his humans.Cloud sleeps in a large enclosure with his sister and around 50 toys atnight. We are still working on potty training but I am sure that with another pup to teach him the ropes he will be a quick study.Cloud is still a work in progress, he is working on his trust issues and hasprogressed well. He will be a fantastic addition with a little extra love andattentionHe has made a ton of progress in foster! Would love a doggy sibling to show the world isn’t scary. Story
Meet Sabaf a beautiful Husky/Shepherd mix who is already showing the loyal, intelligent, and devoted traits of her breeds. She is highly food-motivated, making her a bright student who is eager to learn and connect through treats.Out of the crate, her true personality starts to show. Sabaf is incredibly loving, gentle, and attentive around humans. She did great with young children, showering them with sweet licks and soft kisses when they gave her treats in her crate, and she shows every sign that she will bond deeply with her humans.Like many sensitive dogs at busy adoption events, Sabaf can occasionally get startled and looks for reassurance. She doesn’t always give the best first impression if another dog passes by while she is inside her crate, as she can feel the need to protect her personal space. However, that behavior changes the moment she steps outside, showing that she is simply feeling a bit scared in the moment. When she feels unsure, she might drop to her belly or look for a safe space, but she remains completely soft with her humans. She simply looks to them for comfort, offers sweet kisses, and is easily reassured with her favorite snacks. We are excited to see how she will bloom in a home. While she may enjoy a calm routine to start, she could easily thrive on activity and fun once she feels secure. A home with a backyard would be perfect for her to play, explore, and run at her own pace. She is young, intelligent, and still learning, so we recommend slow, relaxed introductions with other dogs until she feels safe. Sabaf is also learning to walk on a leash, and she will do great as she discovers the fun of the great outdoors. She is an incredibly sweet, devoted girl who just needs a chance to feel safe and show you her full potential.
