Appropriate socialization will help puppies grow into healthier and more social adults.* They will not know what is appropriate to chew on, where they should go to the bathroom, and how to behave in all situations. Puppies require a lot of time spent on training, management, and supervision. It is recommended that puppies be crate trained or kept in a puppy-proofed room of the house with appropriate chew toys and enrichment when not actively supervised. The Denver Animal Shelter always recommends positive reinforcement-based training methods. * Puppies in a shelter environment often have unknown parentage. Meet sweet dream dog Dodger! He is a happy go lucky mid energy mid sized 1.5 year old husky pup with super fluffy soft coat! He is very friendly, affectionate and loves to play. He would be best in a home with another husky or at least another friendly pup who also likes to play. He is thoughtful and acts as a big brother to Mia, protecting her from other dogs putting himself between her and them. He does resource guard food and must be fed separately. He is “mostly” house trained, but accidents are expected for any pup at new environment. He is a typical husky young pup can be mouthy, but when he chewed on the hand it was light and gentle.
