Meet Koa — Three Legs, Zero Complaints & A Whole Lot of Personality!  If you're looking for an outgoing, happy, social dog who thinks pretty much everyone is his friend, meet Koa! This handsome 4-year-old Husky is one of those dogs who seems to have missed the memo that he is supposed to be cautious around strangers. Dogs? Friends. Kids? Friends. Grown-up humans? Also friends. Basically, Koa's social calendar is wide open! Koa currently lives with a large male dog and three cats, and he does wonderfully with everyone. He doesn't live with children, but there are lots of kids in the neighborhood, and Koa seems completely in his element when they are around. He loves being part of a family and happily welcomes attention from his two- and four-legged friends alike. Two years ago, Koa was hit by a car and suffered a serious injury to his back leg that ultimately required amputation. But Koa? He just adapted and kept on being Koa. He gets around beautifully on three legs and doesn't seem to have the slightest interest in feeling sorry for himself. Why waste time feeling sorry for yourself when there are treats to eat and people to meet? And speaking of treats… Koa is very motivated by snacks. This makes him eager to learn and wonderfully trainable. He also loves being brushed and is happy to enjoy all the little luxuries that come with being someone's beloved dog. However, because he's a tripod, keeping him at a healthy weight (50 pounds) is especially important to take good care of his remaining legs and joints. Unlike the stereotypical Husky, Koa is also pretty quiet. No dramatic Husky opera concerts from this guy! He isn't an escape artist, either. He's simply a sweet, affectionate boy who enjoys hanging out with his people and being part of the family. Koa has been through some tough stuff, but you'd never know it from meeting him. He's happy, friendly, adaptable and ready to get on with the important business of being someone's best friend. Great with dogs Great with cats Loves the neighborhood kids Loves people Loves being brushed Happy and outgoing Does wonderfully on three legs Koa isn't looking for sympathy. He's looking for a family, some treats, a comfy bed and a whole lot of love. And frankly, we think that's a pretty good plan. With heavy hearts, we're looking for the right new home for Roy. He has been a loved part of our family and this is a decision we never imagined making. Roy has always struggled around young children. After several close calls, our toddler hit him in the face and Roy responded by biting him, requiring stitches. Because of this, a home with no babies, toddlers, or young children is non-negotiable. Roy is independent and values his space. He's affectionate on his own terms and loves hiking, road trips, mountains, creeks, and exploring Colorado. We prefer a home without other dogs, although he has lived successfully with another Husky. No small dogs or cats. He needs someone who understands and respects canine boundaries; when uncomfortable, he may growl to communicate it. We will be selective and require a phone conversation and in-person meeting. We're not simply trying to find Roy a home-we're trying to find him the right home, where he can be safe, understood, loved, and happy. ❤️

She's equal parts goofy, playful, and endlessly sweet, with a tail that rarely stops wagging. Whether she's galloping toward a favorite toy just to toss it around by herself or happily rolling around in the grass, Cayenne has an infectious zest for life that makes everyone around her smile. When Cayenne first came into rescue, she had every reason not to trust the world. She was found wandering the streets, severely malnourished, pregnant, and barely hanging on. The small scars on her face are quiet reminders of a difficult past—but they don't define her. What defines Cayenne is her resilience, her forgiving heart, and her incredible ability to love. She adores people and is wonderful with kids, dogs, and other animals. While she's incredibly loyal and loves being with her family, she's also wonderfully independent. She's perfectly content sleeping outside the bedroom and often chooses to spend time outside simply soaking up the sunshine and enjoying the grass. Like any young Husky mix, Cayenne has a playful stubborn streak and will thrive with a family committed to daily exercise, consistency, and continued training. She's smart, energetic, and eager to be part of an active home that embraces her puppy spirit. Simply put, Cayenne is a delight. She has completely stolen our hearts—so much so that my husband, Tim, has repeatedly suggested we keep her ourselves. (The only thing stopping us is knowing that if we did, we wouldn't have room to continue fostering pregnant moms like her.)
