He loves outdoor exploration but can be anxious and seeks comfort from being close to his humans. Ideal for a home with a backyard, active walkers or dog park visitors, and older children (over 3 years). Bandit is house-trained, requires an emotional support human, and enjoys playtime and peaceful snuggles. He's selective with animal friends, needing a trial period with potential pet siblings. Story
Roscoe came from a situation with an elderly woman whose dogs were not spayed or neutered and things got out of control very quickly. Her 2 original dogs, both female Jack Russel Terriers never got spayed. Along came a stray Golden mix and that's where it all started. There had been several litters of puppies and the breeding continued until her daughter stepped in and asked us for help. Roscoe is a product of said out of control breeding. He's a high energy lovable guy but for some reason, the male dogs don't like him so if you already have a dog, we prefer a female. He has been neutered and vaccinated. He is also crate trained and microchipped. Roscoe is available for immediate transport PLEASE NOTE THAT WE RE LOCATED IN TENNESSEE AND YOU WILL NOT BE ABLE TO MEET OUR PETS PRIOR TO ADOPTION! ADOPTION FEE: $500

Story
Meet Peanut, a fun-loving pup with an awesome personality that’s sure to steal your heart! Peanut really comes alive during playtime. He loves playing with squeaky toys and running around in the backyard. Peanut has a very intelligent and extremely curious personality. He spends most days playing, napping, and repeating. Peanut is still learning not to jump on people and he’s picking up on house manners quickly. He’s very treat-motivated, so he picks up commands very quickly. Peanut would do very well in an active household and would make a perfect hiking/trail companion due to his athleticism and curious personality! He would benefit from an experienced owner due to his high energy level. Story
Woody is the happiest go lucky pup we have ever met. I completed all series of shots and have ready for my dad at 12 weeks. Unfortunately my Dad works 6 days a week and decided he couldn't take him. We have had him now ever since and raised him with lots of love, children and our dogs. He just turned 3 in April 2024 4/22/22. He loves all humans and is great with little and big dogs. He loves to go for walks, follow you around, and car rides! He is a great little 8 pound short legged rough coat fella and is always happy and friendly. We can’t take him with us and need a new loving home he can be very loved and well taken care of. Woody is smart, crate trained, invisible fenced trained, leash trained. Listens well and obeys commands. All up to date on exam and preventives and Rabies exp 11/2025. Please adopt this sweet boy!

Story
Male, approx. 14 years old, 20 lbs Personality: gentle, trustworthy, affectionate, snuggler, goofy/funny, energetic, adaptable, easygoing, and smart. Meet Rollin, a senior guy who had to be given up because his senior citizen owner could no longer care for him. We know, it's heartbreaking. I'm not crying, you're crying. Rollin is a gentle fellow who enjoys short walks plus all the ear scratches available. A smart, affectionate, and brave senior citizen who doesn't need a lot of exercise (a few fun walks per day will do), he is happy with quality sniffing spots. Rollin is deaf, and he will amaze you with his ability to sniff out exactly where you are so he can get those essential scritchy-scratches! Rollin is quite a peppy fellow for a dog of his experience. He likes a bit of a food challenge and enjoys using a "snuffle" mat to make meal-time extra fun and enriching. If you're looking for a dog-friendly dog, Rollin may be your "man"! He gets along well with the resident dogs (both large and small) in his foster home and walks nicely on a leash. Rollin hasn't had any accidents, and his foster trusts him left home alone outside of the crate. To top things off, when Rollin had his nails trimmed at the veterinarian, the staff said he was one of the best-behaved boys they've ever had for nail trimming. Leave it to this senior guy to be a staff favorite! Rollin wants to show you what an affectionate, loyal, and charming companion he is - apply today to meet him. ________________________________________________________________________ If you are interested in meeting a dog or cat, we require an adoption application. If the animal has "HAS APPLICATION" listed, they are still available to receive additional applications but also may be in the process of being adopted soon. Learn more, see our list of dogs needing foster, and apply, https://www.citydogsrescuedc.org/foster-a-city-dog.html City Dogs & City Kitties Rescue is a foster-based rescue in Washington, DC. We do not have a shelter. CDCK has a thorough adoption process to find the best possible fit for each of our dogs and cats (we do not operate under a first-come, first-served model). Upon accepting a new cat or dog into the organization, we provide a basic vet visit that includes necessary vaccinations, disease screenings, deworming, microchips, and spay/neuter for dogs six months and older. We do not provide a comprehensive medical exam before adoption. As a result, sickness, injury, and disability may exist unbeknownst to CDCK. City Dogs & City Kitties Rescue is not responsible for payment of any vet care, including known and unknown medical conditions once a cat or dog is adopted from us. Dog specific: Rabies, DHPP, Leptospirosis, and Bordetella vaccines. They are tested for HW, Lyme, Ehrlichia, Anaplasmosis. Most cats and dogs will have a house-training accident in the initial days in their new home and we cannot guarantee any pet is housebroken or crate trained.

Story
small sweetie ready to play! SAM NEEDS A FOREVER HOME!!!!' Come meet Sam and other great adoptable dogs this Sunday (July 28th) from 12-3 pm at the Petsmart in Silver Spring (12020 Cherry Hill Rd, Silver Spring, MD 20904)!   Name:  Sam      Best Guess for Breed: Jack Russell terrier and chihuahua mix   Best Guess for Age:   2 years as of April 2024       SEX: Male   Approximate Weight:  20 lbs   Gets Along With: Other dogs! We haven't seen him with cats but he can be tested. We would be cautious placing him in a home with children under 12 years old because young kids can often scare shy dogs with their level of energy or noise   Currently Living at:   South Carolina shelter   Special adoption considerations: Sam is heartworm positive, but this Lucky Dog got extra lucky! This pup is part of a groundbreaking study we are conducting at our South Carolina Rescue Campus that has the potential to change the way shelters across the United States treat heartworm positive dogs.  All dogs in the study are placed at random in either the 2 shot or 3 shot protocol with strictly monitored protocols in place. Four weeks following their final injection, the pups are eligible to transport to the DC area for placement in foster or adoptive care.  After treatment concludes, we work with adopters to arrange a free follow up heartworm test after 6 months, followed by a second test at 9 months. We are happy to discuss this treatment and which phase of the study this Lucky Dog is in right now! Just email the adoption coordinator - the address is at lower left!   Sam needs to go to a home with a resident dog to help him gain more confidence. We would be cautious placing him in a home with children under 12 years old because young kids can often scare shy dogs with their level of energy or noise.  Children would need to be supervised closely to not leave doors open and should never walk the dog without an adult holding the leash.  We would be happy to discuss this more in depth with any applicant.   Sam is Looking For:   His forever home! This cutie, through no fault of his own, landed in the shelter. He's looking forward to his new chapter, eagerly awaiting all the sniffy walks he will get with his new humans, romps in the park, and all the adventures they can dream up. He's out of the puppy yips and as a wise, experienced dog, knows what's most important in life: Being safe and loved and under his own roof, and that's right at the top of his wish list. Right now, he's shy and unsure in new environments, so he needs extra patient and loving adopters who will help him become more confident in new places, and a welcoming resident dog who will show him how to dog! In exchange, he offers all the adoring gazes and happy tail wags he's stockpiling at the shelter and loyal companionship for all his days. What do you say? Can you see Sam trotting by your side? What My Foster Says About Me:  We will update this once he has arrived in the DC area and spent some time with his foster   Lucky Dog cannot guarantee any dog is housebroken.  All of our dogs are working on their crate training.  TO ADOPT:    The adoption fee for this dog is $475, which includes the cost of routine vetting, including vaccinations, spay/neuter, and heartworm treatment.  If you are interested in adopting, please complete the Adoption Questionnaire online at bit.ly/adoptaluckydog   Lucky Dog Animal Rescue does our best to provide accurate information about the dogs we have for adoption.
