Story
Meet Moses! This little man is sweet, low-key, and absolutely hilarious. Moses arrived to us after being left chained to the porch of an empty home in frigid temperatures. His humans simply packed up and left him to die in the freezing cold, icy rain and snow. Somehow he survived long enough for a good samaritan to unchain him and bring him to a shelter, where he made his way to us and never looked back! If you were to ask Moses what kind of dog he is, he would not hesitate to tell you that he is a country man, through and through. The idea of being “walked” on a leash is something he finds not just confusing but vaguely offensive, like a personal slight against his independence. He does not stroll or heel. He moves freely, ideally across a yard large enough to support his daily schedule of wandering, sniffing, and self-directed frolicking. A fenced yard isn’t a perk for Moses ~ it’s a requirement if you want to stay in his good graces. Inside the house, he operates as a full-time presence. He follows you from room to room as if he’s been assigned to oversee your activities, occasionally offering a soft, conversational whine when he feels something is being handled incorrectly ~ namely, if meals are late or the door to outside has not been opened in a timely manner. He loves snuggling with his people and gets along with every dog and cat he meets with remarkable ease. What you do need to know {what cannot be overstated} is that Moses has an exceptional talent for placing himself directly under your feet at all times. He appears silently, adjusts constantly, and seems wholly unaware that human balance is a fragile and temporary thing. Because of this, he would do best with someone steady on their feet. And then there are the moments where he simply…defies explanation. Like climbing into an open drawer, arranging himself neatly inside, and going to sleep as if this were a completely standard life choice. Who are we to question him? He’s doing well with pottying outside, with a few indoor marking incidents that we’re working through as he settles in. It’s hard to reconcile all of this ~ the personality, the humor, the absolute presence of him ~ with the fact that he was found tied to a porch and left behind. There’s too much here. Too much life, too much character, too much Moses. All Moses wants from life is to be loved and play outside. In return, he promises endless entertainment and snuggles. Apply today to meet this absolute legend. You won't regret it! Moses is approximately 13 years old and 20 lbs. Fostered in Richmond, VA Please apply at MirisHaven.org

Hi, I’m TicTac! 🐾 I may be little, but I’ve got a huge personality and an even bigger heart. I’m a playful, curious puppy who loves making new friends, chasing toys, and cuddling up after a fun day. I’m learning all about the world and would love a family that will help me grow into the best pup I can be. I’m sweet, affectionate, and always ready to make you smile with my silly puppy antics. Whether we’re going on adventures, playing in the yard, or relaxing on the couch, I’ll be right by your side. I also have siblings looking for homes, but I can’t wait to find my very own forever family. If you’re looking for a loyal best friend who will fill your home with love, laughter, and puppy kisses, I might just be your perfect match. 💕 The adoption fee for this puppy is $475, which helps with the cost of routine vet care. A $250 spay/neuter deposit is required at time of adoption. This fee covers spay/neuter at one of PetConnect’s preferred veterinary partners. If the adopter chooses to use their own veterinarian, the deposit will be returned with proof of sterilization. PetConnect Rescue cannot guarantee the exact breed of any animal in our care. The breed listed is based on any background we may have been provided, and the general appearance of the animal at the time they enter our system. However, I am not a fan of strangers in my home or on walks, and I can be protective of my people. I prefer slow introductions and I'll be fine once I get to know you.      My ideal home would be a rural one with a fenced yard. Story
Meet Gemma. Part couch potato, part tiny queen, part weather critic. Gemma is a 9-year-old Rat Terrier mix with a soft heart, a love of routine, and extremely strong opinions about wet grass. If the lawn is damp, she will do everything in her power to avoid touching it — a level of dramatic commitment that her foster both respects and fears. At home, Gemma is affectionate, loyal, and happiest curled up beside her people enjoying a quiet day indoors. She loves snacks, cuddles, calm environments, and getting your full attention. Her foster says she has the sweetest little whine when she wants more affection, which is often because Gemma firmly believes cuddling is a full-time job. She’s crate trained, low energy, walks nicely on leash, and gets along well with calm dogs and cats. Excitable dogs who invade her personal space, however, are not her thing. Gemma prefers a peaceful home where everyone respects boundaries — especially during mealtime. She does guard her food and needs a family who will simply feed her separately and leave her alone while she eats. With that easy management in place, Gemma settles beautifully into home life. She’s also not a fan of being picked up, so her ideal adopter will understand that love sometimes means meeting a dog where they’re comfortable and letting trust build naturally. Because of this, Gemma is looking for an adult-only home without children where she can feel safe, understood, and relaxed. Gemma is looking for a quiet, stable home with soft places to nap, predictable routines, and people who appreciate a slightly opinionated little dog with a huge capacity for love. We just welcomed 9 year 13 lb female rat terrier mix Gemma. Fostered in Gaithersburg, MD Please apply at mirishaven.org
