Story
Kahlo 8 is a 8-month-old cattle dog mix, tri-pod girl that is ready to find her forever home! Kahlo is a shy pup who comes to us from a local tribal reservation where she was discovered with a severe leg injury which required amputation. She has healed up beautifully and is incredibly mobile! Kahlo takes a minute to warm up to new people, but with treats and time she is very sweet and loyal. Her favorite things are playing with her doggy friends and lounging in soft dog beds. She also loves toys, bones, belly rubs, and doing zoomies around the yard. She is house and crate trained, and super smart. She will need a family that can be patient and gentle with her while she continues to learn new things. She is working on walking on a leash, and riding in the car, and is also completely crate trained. Kahlo will do best in a home with a canine companion and a fenced in yard. Kahlo has a lot of love to give and will make a wonderful companion! If you'd like to meet Kahlo, please fill out an application at http://caws.org/adoption-application. Dogs are not placed on a first come, first served basis but all applications are reviewed for best fit. All CAWS animals are fixed, microchipped, and vaccinated. Her adoption fee is $200. Story
My name is Sushi! I am a 36 pound, 1-1.5 year old Lab / Terrier mix. I always have a smile on my face, although I can be shy at times, especially around new people. I have a cute lighter-colored halo on my head that makes me special. I am fully house trained and I learned to use the doggy door at my foster home so fast you wouldn't believe it! I need a little more time to get comfortable with a leash and collar. I'm starting to know that when my dog friends and I get into a vehicle it's to go have lots of fun and I do not need to be frightened of it! I love to zoom around the yard, play, chew dog toys, sleep in my doggy bed and be snuggled and kissed. Dogs are not placed on a first-come, first-serve basis. We strive to find the perfect home for each animal. Applications may take up to 48 hours to process. All CAWS animals are fixed, microchipped, and vaccinated. Her adoption fee is $200. Story
Meet Zinnia This sweet compact 45-pound Labrador/Pitbull/Saint Bernard mix is a special girl looking for a patient and loving home. Zinnia is crate-trained, house-trained, muzzle-trained, knows a some tricks, and walks nicely on a leash. She's an active, playful pup who adores toys (especially squeaky ones!) and loves to 'talk' when she's excited. While she gets along well with other dogs-often preferring males— she can be shy at first and needs gentle introductions to new people and situations.Once she warms up, she's a loyal, affectionate companion who thrives in a calm and understanding environment. Loud noises and sudden movements can startle her, so she'd do best in a quiet home with an adopter who can give her the time and patience she needs to build confidence. A friendly, easygoing dog in the home (ideally a male) could help her feel more secure. If you're looking for a devoted, playful, and unique companion who will reward your love with endless goofy antics and snuggles, Zinnia might just be your perfect match! Could you be her forever family? Reach out today to meet this wonderful girl!(Note: Due to her sensitivities, she would do best with older, respectful children or in an adults-only home.)ALL CAWS animals are fixed, microchipped, and vaccinated. Her adoption fee is $200. If you are interested in adopting Zinnia, please fill out an online application at caws.org. Thanks! Story
Meet Frida – A Resilient Spirit with a Heart of GoldFrida is a 5-year-old survivor with an incredible story. Rescued from life on the reservation, she endured the trauma of being caught in a coyote trap and bravely chewed through her leg to escape. Thanks to a compassionate rescue effort, Frida was given a second chance. Her injured leg was amputated, and she began the long journey of healing—physically and emotionally.Once feral and fearful, Frida has made remarkable strides. She now moves confidently around her foster home, easily navigating short stairs (2-3 steps) and the yard. She’s found comfort in the company of other dogs and enjoys their presence. Best of all, she now trusts her primary caretakers and allows gentle affection—something that once seemed impossible.Frida is a quiet, gentle soul who would thrive in a calm, stable home. She doesn’t need long walks or busy outings; a cozy bed, a secure yard, and a patient family will be her paradise. She’s not a dog who craves adventure—she simply wants a peaceful place to feel safe and loved. While she continues to make progress, the time is right for Frida to begin the next chapter in her forever home. With time, patience, and understanding, she will blossom into the most loyal and loving companion.Frida is ready for a family that will see her for the gentle survivor she is. Story
Meet Cory – A Resilient Lab with a Heart of Gold!Cory is a sweet and lovable yellow Lab who is ready to leave his past behind and start a new, happy chapter! Though estimated to be around seven years old, he still has plenty of energy and a playful spirit that will bring joy to any home.Despite a rough start, Cory’s loving personality shines through. He is friendly, affectionate, and eager to be part of a family. He does well in a crate overnight and is always excited for new adventures. He’s still learning proper leash manners and would do best with someone who can help him build confidence on walks. He finds cats a little too exciting so he will need a feline free home. He would do best as your one and only pet.Cory’s enthusiasm for life is inspiring! He loves food (sometimes a little too much!) and will keep you on your toes with his goofy and determined nature. While he would enjoy a yard, it’s not a necessity as long as he gets plenty of exercise and playtime.Cory’s ideal home is with someone who can offer patience, structure, and lots of love. He’s a loyal companion who just needs a second chance—and he’s ready to give his whole heart in return. If you’re looking for a dog who will greet every day with excitement and gratitude, Cory might be your perfect match! Are you ready to give this amazing boy the forever home he deserves?
