I’m Lunicera, but you can call me Lucy. My foster family says that I’m the cuddliest dog around. I will often stand on my hind legs in order to get picked up or to get your attention. I love to be held like a baby in your arms, sit by you on the couch, or follow you around. I also LOVE to play! I will fetch a ball in the yard, play chase with any dog around or find a way to make a friend. I also love walks…I get so excited when I see the leash and harness, and I can’t help but leap and dance around. I love to sleep with someone. Sometimes it’s my foster dog brother or a human, but I don’t love to be alone. I’ll go into my crate to take a short rest and I’m fine in the crate when my family is away, but I get so excited when they all come back home! My foster family says I’m getting better at potty training. I’m good in a schedule, and I’m learning to ring the bells by the door to go outside. I mostly go out when other people or dogs go out. Once you’re part of Lisa’s inner circle, you’re in for enthusiastic greetings, full-body cuddles, ridiculous antics, and some of the most expressive facial reactions you’ll ever see. She has a huge capacity for love. Lisa came into rescue after living with severe, painful eye and ear infections. Following extensive veterinary care, including several surgeries, she is feeling better and ready to enjoy life with a family of her own. There is so much to love about Lisa: She loves being close to her people. She will bury her head into you with all her love just pouring into her person. She is a lap poodle, all 60lbs of her. She is silly, playful, and endlessly entertaining. She is potty trained and can be trusted to free-roam when left alone. She rides beautifully in the car and hops right in. She does well at the groomer. She doesn’t counter surf or guard food or other resources. She calmly passes other dogs on walks, even dogs barking at her. She has excellent recall and is highly motivated by treats. She loves toys, balls, walks, and a good game of chase with canine friends. She has undergone a gastropexy, which greatly reduces the risk of the dangerous stomach twisting associated with bloat in deep-chested dogs. She is also pretty lazy and sleeps most of the day: a 45min-1hr walk a day and mental enrichment puzzles, lick mats, and a chew project are all that she needs to be fulfilled. She does not need another dog in the home, but she would love canine friends who can visit. Lisa’s ideal home will be a calm, predictable single-family home in a suburban or rural neighborhood with a physically fenced yard. She needs a family willing to introduce new people gradually and proactively manage her with people she doesn’t know. It would be best for her to go a home with few visitors. Lisa has responded incredibly well to positive reinforcement based training and continues to make progress. Lisa is available for a 2-4 week trial adoption to ensure she fits into her forever home.

Winston has had a rough start on the streets and was unfortunately attacked by another stray dog. Despite this, he is a sweetheart who just wants love and cuddles. Winston is wonderful in the crate and considers it to be his safe space. He walks nicely on the leash and has come to absolutely love walks around the neighborhood. He is a bit cautious when meeting new humans, but can be won over with treats. Winston is a lounger more than a player, but he will co-exist with other calm dogs. Because of his cautious nature, Winston would do best in a home without kids or high-energy dogs. He has done great with cats in the home. Winston will need some support with basic command training, housetraining and just getting used to the home. Given his background, he can take some time to feel comfortable, but once he does you can expect a loyal companion who is always available for cuddles! Winston is from Texas. They arrive in Minnesota on 10/10 and will need to be picked up from the Ruff Start Rescue office in Princeton, MN between the hours of 8:30am-11am. Please plan for their arrival accordingly as we cannot accommodate pickups outside of this time frame. Waffle was found abandoned in a neighborhood. With no information on his past, it's hard to know what Waffle has gone through, but he is ready to find his happily ever after. Waffle is a good dog, but he does have some areas to be aware of. He resource guards people, so will need a family willing to work on this with him. He can be testy if other dogs get too close to his person; because of this, he would do best in an adult-only home. Waffle hasn't met cats, but is likely to do fine with them. Upon meeting other dogs, he is playful, relaxed and interested. He does love to play chase and tumble with other dogs! Waffle is wonderful in his crate and is fine with being leashed but needs some practice walking nicely. One funny quirk is when he sleeps, his bottom lip relaxes and he shows sleep teefers. It's adorable. If you're willing to work on a few things to help Waffle feel secure, then he can put his best paw forward and become his best self! Hi, my name is Yoko. I am from Garland Texas. A few words from his foster: Yoko is a senior dog that came from Texas in July. He is vision impaired, sweet and smart. He is housebroken and does well on a schedule. Mostly after he eats he needs to go out fairly soon after. He does get daily eye drops and can give some tips to give them easy. He is a good sleeper. He can go up the stairs with no problems, is best to be carried down stairs and he has learned to navigate his way around really well with very limited eye sight. A baby gate would be best to limit his space if you have stairs just to start and he would do fine with being kenneled when gone. He is turning into a happy little dog and likes going on short walks. He loves to wander around and sniff everything. He really is a special dog. A quiet home without alot of excitement is best and does like his own space especially when he is sleeping. He is just a sweet, mellow boy who gets along with both my dog and cat so no issues if there are other animals in the house. Medical Bio/From the Vet: We are so excited that Yoko is ready to find his forever home. He had glaucoma in both eyes, one of which could not be successfully managed, so treatment was removal of the eye. His left eye is managed on two medicated eye drops. His hyperthyroidism is well managed on an oral medication called Levothyroxine. Bloodwork is recommended every 6 months while on this medication to account for any dose changes that may be needed. He has been started on 2 different anti-anxiety medications to help with some fear based reactivity. The estimated total cost of Yoko's medications would be approximately $50. We hope that we can find him a perfect spot to land to be spoiled and loved in his golden years!
