Winston has had a rough start on the streets and was unfortunately attacked by another stray dog. Despite this, he is a sweetheart who just wants love and cuddles. Winston is wonderful in the crate and considers it to be his safe space. He walks nicely on the leash and has come to absolutely love walks around the neighborhood. He is a bit cautious when meeting new humans, but can be won over with treats. Winston is a lounger more than a player, but he will co-exist with other calm dogs. Because of his cautious nature, Winston would do best in a home without kids or high-energy dogs. He has done great with cats in the home. Winston will need some support with basic command training, housetraining and just getting used to the home. Given his background, he can take some time to feel comfortable, but once he does you can expect a loyal companion who is always available for cuddles! Winston is from Texas. They arrive in Minnesota on 10/10 and will need to be picked up from the Ruff Start Rescue office in Princeton, MN between the hours of 8:30am-11am. Please plan for their arrival accordingly as we cannot accommodate pickups outside of this time frame. Waffle was found abandoned in a neighborhood. With no information on his past, it's hard to know what Waffle has gone through, but he is ready to find his happily ever after. Waffle is a good dog, but he does have some areas to be aware of. He resource guards people, so will need a family willing to work on this with him. He can be testy if other dogs get too close to his person; because of this, he would do best in an adult-only home. Waffle hasn't met cats, but is likely to do fine with them. Upon meeting other dogs, he is playful, relaxed and interested. He does love to play chase and tumble with other dogs! Waffle is wonderful in his crate and is fine with being leashed but needs some practice walking nicely. One funny quirk is when he sleeps, his bottom lip relaxes and he shows sleep teefers. It's adorable. If you're willing to work on a few things to help Waffle feel secure, then he can put his best paw forward and become his best self! In return, you will have a loyal friend and the best cuddler. Waffle is from Texas. Hi, my name is Yoko. I am from Garland Texas. A few words from his foster: Yoko is a senior dog that came from Texas in July. He is now 100% blind. He is adjusting pretty well but does need verbal reassurance when out for walks, navigating new spaces and when someone approaches him, to avoid startling him. He is sweet and smart. He is housebroken and does well on a schedule. Mostly after he eats he needs to go out fairly soon after. He is a good sleeper. He can go up the stairs with no problems, is best to be carried down stairs and he has learned to navigate his way around really well with very limited eye sight. A baby gate would be best to limit his space if you have stairs just to start and he would do fine with being kenneled when gone. He is turning into a happy little dog and likes going on short walks. He loves to wander around and sniff everything. He really is a special dog. A quiet home without a lot of excitement is best and does like his own space especially when he is sleeping. He is just a sweet, mellow boy who gets along with both my dog and cat so no issues if there are other animals in the house. Medical Bio/From the Vet: We are so excited that Yoko is ready to find his forever home. He had glaucoma in both eyes, one of which could not be successfully managed, so treatment was removal of the eye. His left eye is managed on two medicated eye drops. His hyperthyroidism is well managed on an oral medication called Levothyroxine. Bloodwork is recommended every 6 months while on this medication to account for any dose changes that may be needed. He has been started on 2 different anti-anxiety medications to help with some fear based reactivity. The estimated total cost of Yoko's medications would be approximately $50. We hope that we can find him a perfect spot to land to be spoiled and loved in his golden years!

Hi, my name is Capone, and I am from Arkansas! Capone is a rescue from a tough situation and carries some of that with him. In the short time we've had him as a foster, he's made great strides in socializing but is still very shy and fearful. He loves hanging out in his crate where he feels secure but now ventures out to see the house and even sit in the same room as people. He has also started to play and to bark in a playful way. But it's a process and he will need patience before he becomes the fun pal he wants to be. He does love dogs, feels safe and secure with them, lies down with them. He's just not used to people and still learning that they're safe and loving too. He will get there!

I will fetch a ball in the yard, play chase with any dog around or find a way to make a friend. I also love walks…I get so excited when I see the leash and harness, and I can’t help but leap and dance around. I love to sleep with someone. Sometimes it’s my foster dog brother or a human, but I don’t love to be alone. I’ll go into my crate to take a short rest and I’m fine in the crate when my family is away, but I get so excited when they all come back home!
