Story
History: We received a plea to help a group of male adult dogs from a local hoarding situation. It broke our hearts to see the condition the homeowner and dogs were living in. The dogs were welcomed to a temporary housing situation by a local rescuer when the homeowner was hospitalized. Unfortunately, the homeowner passed away days later. It is a heartbreaking situation and we promise to give these boys fulfilling and loving lives. They are working on their trust and confidence and doing better each day! A Note from the Foster: If you're looking for a super chill guy that loves to cuddle, this guy is for you. He has had no accidents in the house and keeps his kennel clean overnight. He's on a schedule for his meals and potty breaks. Weather permitting, he loves to go for a walk. He's great on a leash and walks close by your side. I have not heard him bark. Only during his dreams! He has had all of his vaccinations. During his exam, they discovered he has severe cataracts on both eyes, which is causing some blindness. He's waiting for an appointment with the optometrist. His condition does not restrict him from being a content dog with his low-key life! However, he will follow you wherever you go. He likes to know someone is around!

Story
History: Jettson is a handsome little man who was recently surrendered to rescue. He is so loving and working hard on his confidence building. He hopes to find his forever home soon! A Note from the Foster: Jettson (currently being called Jeff) is reported to be a mini-golden doodle. At 10 pounds and 8 months old, it may be more likely that he is mixed with toy poodle as opposed to a miniature poodle. That being said, Jeff is 100 pounds of love, cuddles, and energy in a 10 pound body. While he’s small enough to be a purse puppy, he’s growing in confidence and has enough personality to be thought of as a much larger dog. In his first day at his foster home, he bravely greeted everyone- women, men, and energetic children. He was eager to receive pets and give kisses. We attempted to do a slow introduction to our resident dogs, but everyone was pretty insistent on meeting. While Jeff clearly was confused about how to dog properly, he was polite and well accepted. In the week he has been with us, it’s been amazing to watch him learn now to play with other dogs, discover chew bones and toys, and many other dog required skills. He sleeps well in his kennel at night in our bedroom. He will fuss for a time, but I think he’s just trying to see if he can be pathetic or annoying enough that we will just pull him into bed with us. He does love snuggling when you’re sitting down, so if you’re into co-sleeping, Jeff is your man. He will bark/howl for a short period of time when you kennel him to leave the house, but he does settle. Other than that, he doesn’t seem to be a very vocal dog. He has play barked at our resident dogs, but doesn’t join in when they spot a delivery man or kids coming off the bus. He is working towards being housebroken, understanding that outside is for bathroom, but hasn’t mastered giving us a cue to take him out. We have had him in belly-bands when we’re not watching him closely enough for him to be successful, and we haven’t had a mess. He does well on a schedule. He has a hair cut right now, but you can tell from his ears and tail that he will have pretty curly hair when it grows back. He’s the softest, and will gladly sit with you to be pet. Jeff loves his people, does well meeting new folks, and has been great meeting new dogs. If you’re looking for a companion you can take anywhere, Jeff is the dude for you.

A Note from the Foster: Milton came from an unfortunate situation at a hoarder house where he lived with at least 4 other dogs. He now has a chance at a new life! Personality: Milton is pretty shy and is still learning that humans are kind. He likes to know what’s going on and will occasionally follow his adult humans around when they’re not looking and check to see what they’re up to. Otherwise he's curled up on one of multiple dog beds. He doesn’t like being cuddled by humans (yet) or being picked up. When he needs to be picked up sometimes he freezes in place and other times he runs away so it’s helpful to have a leash dragging behind him to be able to grab him. He seems like he’s starting to like itchies. He will move his leg out to the side to ask for inner leg itchies and leans into chin itchies. He LOVES being outside in our fenced in backyard sniffing around wagging his tail. Milton will need to be on a leash when he is outside or in a secure fenced in backyard with a drag leash. Potty training: Milton is doing great at potty training. He has had only one accident inside when we were too slow taking him outside after being kenneled all night. He wears a belly band just to be safe, however he’s not a fan and will try to pull it off when he thinks no one is watching. Toys: Milton isn’t interested in toys yet, but he does like dog chews and gnawing on bones. Kennel: He isn’t a fan of his kennel. He kennels intermittently throughout the day and every night overnight. He chewed on the metal bars of his metal kennel, so he has switched to a plastic kennel that he unsuccessfully tries to dig himself out of. Despite not liking his kennel he’s been vocally quiet in it (besides occasional digging sounds). We give him 4 pieces of kibble every time he kennels and he seems very happy with that basic offering. Leash: It doesn’t seem like Milton’s previous owner took him for many walks since he’s pretty new to the concept of a leash. He’s only been on two walks so far. He does some zip zagging and will of course stop you if there’s a good smell. Exposure to other dogs: Milton lives with a 3 year old 40 pound poodle. They follow each other around and sometimes nap on the same bed. I would highly recommend that he goes to a home with another confident dog because he is frequently looking to my resident dog for guidance. Exposure to kids or cats: none. He would be best in a home with older kids since he doesn’t like being suddenly grabbed.

Story
Elliana They gave me a fancy name at last! Can you believe it? I have been used as a breeder dog for years and years and then dumped at the local pound with a mammary gland tumor that you could play tennis with!! Who does that!!! At least that is what my foster mom thinks my life has been like. I sat there in a cage at animal control for 4 weeks before anyone would think about pulling me out of there but my foster mom said that she had to take me home so that I would have a chance to be a beloved pet before I die. Not that I am planning to do that anytime soon, but you never know. Anyhow, I went to the vet right away and had that big nasty thing taken off my stomach and the vets knew right away what it was and what it was from. They took out the baby making bits as well, so I won’t have to go through having my babies and then losing them right away to being just a baby and money making factory for somebody. Sheesh….get a job!! I have some issues, I won’t lie, but I am starting to kind of get used to being out of a cage, where I learned to circle around and around as there wasn’t a lot of space in those things. I can walk in a straight line and the more I get time outside, the more I am enjoying the fresh air and smells in the grass. I will revert to circles when I am nervous but Rome wasn’t built in a day and I have only had freedom for a couple of months now. I don’t have many teeth, as the ones I did have were rotted and broken from trying to eat the bars I suppose. I startle easily from the lack of being held and loved in my former life, and will try to “gum” you if I pick me up too quickly. But speaking to me and touching me before you pick me up will let me know you are there and going to be gentle with me. I am still getting used to the being held part, and sometimes can’t tolerate it very long, but I am learning and going slow is really helpful to me. I am learning what good food tastes like, and what a soft bed feels like, and while I have pretty limited vision to see things, I can follow my nose and it helps me to find everything I need to get around. Foster mom leaves me a puppy pad to potty on in the house if I have to go at night, and I am pretty good at using it. It took a while to figure out that is what it was for, but also, if I potty outside after meals, I am good if I keep to a schedule. So that is my story. If you are interested in giving a blind old lady a soft landing for the rest of my life, let me know. Local adoption in Texas only please.

Story
Me me me me meeeeeee!!!!!! What? Oh. My foster mom says that is NOT how to spell my name. It is spelled “MiMi" which sounds the same but who cares how it is spelled. I am a vintage model of a little poodle and I was a much loved member of the family at one time. Not to say that I am spoiled or anything but I know what I want when I want it! So it really is all about me! I adore being around my people and love being held. I will make little whimpering noises if you are there and I think I haven’t had enough lap time and look at you with my puppy dog eyes so that you feel guilty and pick me up where I want to be. I am a healthy 14 year old poodle who is scheduled for spay and teeth cleaning on Jan. 5th and then will be able to go to my new home after that. I use a potty pad when I am sleeping on the floor, but my foster mom puts a diaper on me when I sleep on your bed because I am not too keen about jumping off the bed. So when I have to potty, if I am on the bed, sometimes I will potty the bed. But the diaper takes care of that. I am a whopping 10 pounds and do walk pretty well of a leash as long as you don’t walk too fast. I am housebroken if you take me out on a schedule. Adoption fee in Texas is $200 Out of State fee with transport and fuel surcharge is $450.
