You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Zoey was dumped at a high kill shelter in West Texas. She is good with other calm dogs, and cats, no young children as the excitement scares her. She is thought to be older, exact age is not known.  She is a pretty calm girl, does like to play some. Zoey would prefer not to be picked up alot, would rather lay with you on the couch on your lap and chill.  All dogs and puppies require supervision and training. She will be arriving in MN late April. First priority will go to someone who lives in the twin cities metro in order to bring to a vet visit.  Please put in your application on our website mattysheartandsoulanimalrescue.rescuegroups.org.      Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.March 27, 2024, 9:25 am

Story
Hi! I’m Sheila, I'm 8 years old and done being a mama! I’m enjoying my new life in Minnesota learning to play and looking forward to retiring on a couch, eating treats, playing with my toys, and snuggling up with my people. I’ve been spending my days dancing around my foster home trying out ALL the toys and ALL the beds, sniffing ALL the smells in the backyard, and taking naps both inside and out. Things I’ve learned I love are attention, treats, attention, toys (especially squeaky ones), attention, breakfast and dinner, attention, and sitting in laps. And did I mention attention? Things I’m figuring out is pottying outside (I know to go outside, but usually go inside once a day just because i want to!), which things/plants are ok to chew (hint- phone charger cords are NOT ok), and sometimes other dogs (I want ALL your attention!) I play tug and chase with the right companion but they need to be ok with me being the boss. Things I’m not a fan of are storms and loud noises, strangers, and the super cold weather. I don’t know or care what cats are- boring! I’m poodly smart with a big personality and would love to learn more games and might benefit from working with a trainer to help me learn to share if I end up living with other dogs. I can get a little jealous and bossy!  I will let you know if it sounds like anyone is coming home so living in a place with shared walls won't work for me as all those noises make me anxious and our neighbors won't like me letting them all know!  I will also answer if I hear other dogs calling me, ignoring them would be rude! I don't really like the leash but love to go outside in my fenced in yard to go potty, so I will definitely need a fence!  Zoomies in the yard or chasing my people are enough exercise for me. What I want most in life is to snuggle my BFF and eat treats. Can you be that BFF? Adoption fee includes: Full veterinary exam, alter, prepaid microchip, dental, dewormed, Rabies vaccine, DAPP vaccine, Bordetella vaccine, 4DX , flea/tick and heartworm preventative while in rescue. Story
Meet Buddy Brown! He's a very sweet mini poodle around 3 years old. He loves to lay on your lap. However, he is quite scared and will cower when approached which is typical for a breeder release dog. They take some time and patience to come out of their shell. He's still working on potty training but I think he'll make progress quickly with that.  He is perfect when it comes to riding in the car and sleeps in bed with his people quietly throughout the night. He gets along well with other dogs, does not bother cats and is not interested when shown my bearded dragon. He's not very food motivated but does enjoy treats when left alone with them. He needs a bit of work on kenneling and staying in an x-pen without barking but he is improving with time. He is extremely cuddly and wants nothing more than to sleep in your lap 24/7. He's looking for a home of his own. Is that with you? Adoption fee includes: Full veterinary exam, Alter, Prepaid microchip, Dewormed, Rabies vaccine (if age appropriate), Distemper combo vaccine(s) appropriate to age, Bordetella vaccine, 4DX (over 6 months of age), Flea/tick and heartworm preventative while in rescue. Adoption fee: $650.00 Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.March 26, 2024, 1:01 pm

Story
I'm  Robert  and am 2 years old. I'm a mini golden doodle. I have a luscious brown coat with hints of white.  I recently moved to MN on January 21, 2024 to enjoy my retirement from breeding. I am learning to be a dog and have bursts of puppy energy. I got along well with my foster sister before she was adopted and resident cats. I would prefer to have a pup sibling to keep me company in my future home. I am shy around humans and it takes me a little bit to warm up. Loud or sudden movements can be scary and I tend to get skittish or anxious. I don't mind the little humans trying to cuddle with me but I do keep my distance as they tend to make lots of sudden movements. I prefer the calm adult but do love to give the kids lots of kisses. I am learning to play with toys and chew on them.  I love doing zoomies in the backyard and am learning to walk with a harness/leash.  I go out pretty regularly to do my potty business and have only had two #2 accidents in the house because the human didn't read my body cues fast enough. I'm a bit of a talker when I hear all these noises that I haven't heard before, like a TV or someone entering a room without letting me know.  I'm not used to being alone so this can make me feel stressed but I do go in my kennel when the humans are away. I also am sleeping through the night in my kennel. My human puts on the sound machine which helps to tune out all the other noises. I am enjoying being a dog and love to give kisses. Can I give you some puppy kisses?  Adoption fee includes: Full veterinary exam, Alter, Prepaid microchip, Dewormed, Rabies vaccine (if age appropriate), Distemper combo vaccine(s) appropriate to age, dental, Bordetella vaccine, 4DX (over 6 months of age), Flea/tick and heartworm preventative while in rescue. Story
Name: Harry Breeds: Shih Tzu/Poodle Mix Age: Adult Sex: Male Size: Small Harry is a super loving, fun Shih Tzu/Poodle type mix with a puppy spirit. This little guy is all about making friends, loving on everyone he meets, and having fun. He is reported to be 6 years old but he acts so much younger it’s hard to believe he’s a middle-aged guy. He came into the shelter in terrible shape—thin, matted, filthy, and with a giant mass on his face. He’s all cleaned up now, the mass removed, and he’s gaining back the weight he needs. Harry is not looking like a super model right now with a haircut that’s shaved to the skin in places from how matted he was but he will absolutely win every personality contest. He is excellent with dogs, cats, and kids. He loves nothing more than toys and tossing toys around. If he can’t find a toy, socks are his favorite things to run around with. Harry is housetrained, crates well, and minds his manners in the house. He loves to go for walks and then snuggle up with his people or in a sunny spot for a snooze. This guy is a forever puppy and immediately will steal your heart! Requirements: No special requirements Adoption Fee: $600 + tax. This includes neuter/spay, current vaccinations as age appropriate, heartworm/tick testing in dogs over 8 months of age, deworming, microchip and current Heartgard and Nexgard preventatives. Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Thank you for stopping by to see me!  Please fill out an application to set up  a private meeting.      Hello, wonderful souls! I'm Peter, your soon-to-be charming companion! I'm a very handsome Miniature Poodle, and I'm discovering the joys of comfort and love in my foster home. Each day brings me more confidence, and I'm eager to share my overflowing love with a special someone—maybe that's you! I am a bit timid, sudden movements, commotion, and loud noises still make me a bit uneasy. However, I'm getting better at facing these fears every day. When foster mom is still, I'm all about those loving pets and cuddles. But if she's on the move, I keep my distance—I even bolt if she walks toward me. I know commands like "outside" and "stop," and leash and potty training are still on my to-learn list. I'm 95% potty trained, especially with a consistent routine. A fenced yard is a must for my adventurous spirit. I'd love to have a canine companion to show me the ropes, help me 'dog' properly, and boost my confidence. We're working on some manners, and my foster pals are excellent teachers. Walking on a leash needs some practice, and a confident pal by my side would be perfect. Despite being easily startled and a bit hand-shy, I've found joy in playing with toys, furry friends, and even those mysterious creatures called cats. I'm all about giving kisses, nibbling fingers, and enjoying ear scratches. Zoomies are my specialty, especially in the fenced yard or on the stairs. I've got some manners to polish up, like waiting for my turn and distinguishing between toys and household items – hee hee! I really am a sweet boy who is simply looking for the patience, unconditional love, and security that I SO richly deserve from my own fur-ever family! I really hope that YOU will be my new family because my heart is overflowing with love that I want to share with someone very special! Love, Peter *Please note that some of our dogs are obtained from shelters, surrendered to our care, or released from breeders.  Each animal's bio is based on our experience of the animal within our care, an educated guess based on physical characteristics, temperament and information shared.  Each dog receives basic grooming when coming into rescue, but for some dogs they have not received grooming attention until recently and grooming may be required shortly after adoption.  This will be at the adopters expense, so we encourage you to research the breed and be prepared for grooming expenses .   Underdog cannot guarantee hypoallergenic or non shedding qualities of any dogs in our rescue.   Some of the animals come from situations where they are lacking experience in a home and confidence in humans. In turn, they require another companion dog and/or a fenced in yard in th eir forever home in order for them to feel safe. If you are interested in a    particular dog whose bio states those needs and do not currently have them, please understand that your home might not be the right fit.  Please use the filter on our Adoptable Dogs page to find the perfect match for your home.     ***Be sure to check your spam/junk folder as sometimes our emails end up there***  Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.If you have other questions about me you can email Underdog Rescue at <inquiries@underdogrescuemn.com> ADOPTION EVENTS:      Adoption events are updated at the top of each dogs animals' as their foster home signs up. Check back for updates on which events they will be attending. If an event is not listed within their bio above, the animal is not planning to attend.  Please understand that all of our pets are in volunteer foster homes and sometimes "life" happens and the foster family cannot make it to their scheduled adoption event. If you are traveling from a far distance to meet a specific animal, please understand we cannot guarantee event attendance. We recommend filling out an application and we will set up a private appointment. Private appointments are only scheduled after an application is submitted and approved. ADOPTION PROCEDURE: The first step in our process is to complete an online adoption application on our website: http://www.underdogrescuemn.com/adoptionprocess/   Note: In most circumstances Underdog Rescue will only adopt within 60 miles of Minneapolis, MN.  All of our foster animals can be seen by appointment with an approved adoption application. Contact us at http://www.underdogrescuemn.com/contact-us/ if you have further questions. FOSTER CARE: All of our animals are fostered in individual homes or doggie daycare facilities. While they are in our care, they are part of our families and given lots of love. We work on training, crate-training and socialization prior to adoption, but each bio is written by the foster as they see them, in their home. Each animal's behavior is evaluated and we have a sense of its temperament and personality, but it cannot be guaranteed. We look for adopters who will give each animal the wonderful life and permanent home that he or she deserves in time and with patience.  If you have an interest and ability to be a foster home, please visit our website  www.underdogrescuemn.com/foster-applications  and fill out a foster application. NUTRITION: Nutrition is vital to the rehabilitation and life-long health of our pets.  All of our foster animals are fed a premium diet such as NutriSource, Canidae, Orijen, Nature's Variety, Fromm, Pure Vita, Stella and Chewy's, Primal, or balanced raw diet.  All adopters are required to continue providing premium diets for the life of the animal.
