Story
Finley  is a dapper little guy who loves affection, being held, and prancing around on his long little legs. He may take a few days to warm up and can be a bit skittish at first, but once he feels safe, his sweet, loving personality really shines. Finley is gentle, kind, and affectionate, and he does beautifully with other dogs and even young children. Once he settles in, he is simply full of love to give Energy Level?  Medium House trained?  Mostly Describe how they are on a leash?  He was not leash-trained when we rescued him, but we are working on it. Describe how they are with other dogs?  Playful, sweet, and snuggly. Finley enjoys hanging out with our three small resident dogs and running back and forth with them during fetch. He is very food motivated, so we feed them separately to ensure everyone gets their share. Have they been around cats or other animals? How were they?  Not sure, but suspect he'd do well with cats. Commands they know?  Comes when called, usually goes potty outside when told to. What are their favorite things?  Love, snuggles, and your lap. Finley is happiest when he is being held by one of his people and will climb into your lap whenever he gets the chance. He also loves pets and will gently tap you with his paw to politely ask for more. Finley is a big fan of food and treats and is just starting to discover the fun of dog toys. What do they need to work on?  Needs practice walking on a leash. Has not yet learned how to climb stairs, but is happy to be carried up and down them. Nearly potty trained, just occasional accidents. How are they when left alone? How long have they been left alone?  Finley does well in his crate while we are away at work and school. He has been alone most of the day. He will occasionally bark or howl along with our resident dogs when they hear noises outside. Where do they sleep?  In his crate downstairs. He will sometimes howl, but overall has adjusted well and goes to bed easily. He would love to be welcomed into the big bed. What is their ideal home?  Finley would do well in any home that is full of love, with people ready to dote on him. He's great with other dogs, gentle and loving with children, and friendly with visitors. He will be a wonderful addition to his forever family. The Adoption fee is $325.  For adoption consideration or to meet our dogs, please complete our online adoption application at www.everypetsdream.org/adopt (http://www.everypetsdream.org/adopt). Adoption fee: $650   Meet Pinwheel – Sweet, Easygoing Pug with a Happy-Go-Lucky Heart Pinwheel is a 4 year old, 11 lb Pug who came to us from a shelter and immediately made herself at home like she’d always belonged. From the moment she arrived, she greeted every volunteer at intake like they were long-lost best friends— and she’s been charming everyone ever since with her gentle, friendly nature.   Personality   Pinwheel is the definition of pleasant and uncomplicated. She adjusted instantly to her foster home without hesitation or fear and has continued to grow more confident and relaxed as she settles in. In the mornings, she’s happy to see her people and starts her day with a calm, cheerful energy.   She’s not a big snuggler, but she does enjoy being nearby—following from room to room or settling close by while you go about your day. She’s playful, easygoing, quiet, a natural follower, and has a nice balance of mellow and energetic.   Daily Routine   7:30–8:00 AM – Outside for potty 8:00–8:30 AM – Breakfast 9:00 AM – 1–2 mile walk Daytime – Lounges in the family room, kitchen, or yard; enjoys sunbathing and relaxing Every 1.5–3 hours – Outside potty breaks on the grass 5:00 PM – Dinner Evening – Settles in on her dog mat and relaxes 9:30 PM – Last potty 10:00 PM – Crate for the night   House Manners   Pinwheel is very low maintenance in the home. She is quiet, doesn’t chew or dig, and only occasionally barks when she hears unusual noises— but her bark is soft and not disruptive. She enjoys plush toys and will happily squeak them during downtime.   Training & Habits   She is nearly fully house trained as long as she is let out regularly. She is also learning to signal at the door when she needs to go out and responds well to routine. She’s crate trained and sleeps peacefully through the night without complaint or fuss.   Leash & Walk Behavior   Pinwheel enjoys her walks, though she does tend to pull and explore in all directions. She is not reactive— no barking, lunging, or fixation on squirrels or other dogs—making her easy to take out despite her enthusiastic wandering style.   Social Life   Pinwheel is socially easygoing and adaptable. She has been around other dogs with no issues and shows no aggression or reactivity. While she hasn’t lived with cats or children, she is neutral and calm when encountering kids in public spaces and doesn’t appear bothered by them.   Ideal Home   Pinwheel would fit beautifully into almost any home—families with children, homes with other pets, or individuals of any age. She is friendly, steady, low-drama, and genuinely easy to live with.   She’s not demanding, not complicated, and not high-maintenance— just a sweet, cheerful companion who brings a calm, happy presence to the home.May 13, 2026, 10:46 am

Yes, that’s his real name, and yes, he absolutely lives up to it. This 2 year old, 17 pound Pug is basically a tiny Italian restaurant owner trapped in a dog’s body. He wakes up every day with the confidence of a man yelling “MANGIA!” from the kitchen while dramatically throwing pasta into a pan. Chef Boyardee came from the shelter, but frankly, you’d think he came straight from a sitcom. He is pure entertainment from start to finish. If this dog had opposable thumbs, he’d be hosting a Food Network show called Cooking With Chaos. Chef’s specialties include: • enthusiastically emptying every toy basket in under four minutes • performing surprise spins when excited • collecting “ingredients” on walks like sticks, leaves, and suspiciously important rocks • making every single person laugh within approximately thirty seconds of meeting him This boy has main character energy. He doesn’t walk into a room. He arrives. Chef is goofy in the absolute best way. He’s the kind of dog who sees life as one giant adventure movie starring himself. Squeaky toys? Incredible. Other dogs? Amazing. Humans? Obsessed with them. Existing? His favorite activity. And listen. We need to discuss the face. This pug has the kind of expressions that make people pull out their phones against their will. He looks permanently shocked, mildly concerned, deeply hopeful, and ready to audition for a Pixar movie all at the same time. If you adopt him, prepare for your camera roll storage to suffer immensely. Personality-wise, Chef is like your funniest friend who maybe had one espresso too many. He’s playful, social, curious, and always ready to see what’s happening. He loves being near his people, not necessarily because he’s clingy, but because what if something fun happens five feet away and he misses it? The good news is that beneath all the comedy, there’s a genuinely wonderful dog here. He’s smart, eager to learn, and wildly food motivated. This man would likely learn quantum physics for a chicken nugget. He already knows commands like sit, wait, leave it, and spin, which honestly feels very on brand for someone named Chef Boyardee. He’s also doing well with crate training and housetraining and rides beautifully in the car, which means he’s equally prepared for: • a Starbucks run • a road trip • emotional support errands at Target • or simply supervising you while you buy groceries you didn’t need Chef absolutely loves other dogs and would happily turn every encounter into WrestleMania if allowed. He’s still polishing up his manners and learning that not every dog wants to party 24/7, but his intentions are always joyful. And honestly? That’s the magic of him. Chef Boyardee is joy. He is the dog version of a confetti cannon. The kind of dog who makes bad days feel smaller because he’s too busy spinning in circles carrying a stuffed taco. Some dogs quietly exist in the background. Chef Boyardee is not one of those dogs. He is hilarious. Memorable. Ridiculously charming. Endlessly entertaining. And somewhere out there is a family that’s about to become completely obsessed with a little pug named after canned pasta. The only real risk here is that someone else adopts him first and you spend the next six months saying, “Wait… the spinning pug named Chef Boyardee got adopted already?!” while staring dramatically out a window. Don’t let that be your origin story.  May 13, 2026, 10:46 am

Story
Pug / Dachshund Mix Age: ≈ 4 years old Female, spayed 15 lbs Adoption Fee: $125 (includes spay/neuter, microchip, vaccinations) Cheerio came to the Sacramento County Shelter underweight and with an embedded foxtail in her neck. It was removed surgically, but post-op they had trouble stopping the bleeding. She tested negative for any blood clotting disorder - perhaps the surgery nicked an artery? Eventually, the bleeding stopped, but it left her anemic. The shelter needed a rescue group that specializes in medical cases to continue addressing her veterinary needs. Over time in foster care, her anemia improved and she gained her weight back. She is a very friendly, sweet dog. She likes attention and affection from her foster parents and volunteers. She likes roughhousing with the younger, larger dogs in her foster home. She doesn’t like being confined or kept away from the activities of the home. Crate training would be pretty difficult - lots of barking. Apartment living may not be the best option for her. We have no experience with her as an only dog. We would recommend that she go to a home with other playful, friendly dogs. Please note that we don’t adopt any of our dogs out to homes with children under the age of 13. Coco is a sweet 7-year-old boy who has been a loyal and loving companion. Sadly, his owner is now working two jobs and no longer has enough time to properly care for him. Coco is house-trained, well-behaved, and would make a wonderful companion for a loving new home.
