Feather or Gus. We are neutered, chipped & vaccinated. We are Pug Schnauzer mix. Mom is 100% Pug & dad is Schnauzer/mini Poodle. We are 14 weeks old & our days consist of playing & taking naps. We are doing awesome with potty-training. Being 50% pug means we will shed. Even if you think maybe we won't because of our Schnauzer genes, it's better to assume that we will, because pugs shed a lot, so we won't be good in a home w/someone w/allergies. We are very playful. We are not crate-trained, although we do sleep in a playpen w/each other. We’ve never been alone before, so we will probably need to get used to it, or maybe someone will adopt who has a pup friend already. Mom expects to get lots of interested families for us, so we apologize if we don't respond right away. Tell us about yourself. Your location, your current pets, your work schedule & any info about your household. Adopt one... or maybe both!

Story
Pug / Dachshund Mix Age: ≈ 4 years old Female, spayed 15 lbs Adoption Fee: $125 (includes spay/neuter, microchip, vaccinations) Cheerio came to the Sacramento County Shelter underweight and with an embedded foxtail in her neck. It was removed surgically, but post-op they had trouble stopping the bleeding. She tested negative for any blood clotting disorder - perhaps the surgery nicked an artery? Eventually, the bleeding stopped, but it left her anemic. The shelter needed a rescue group that specializes in medical cases to continue addressing her veterinary needs. Over time in foster care, her anemia improved and she gained her weight back. She is a very friendly, sweet dog. She likes attention and affection from her foster parents and volunteers. She likes roughhousing with the younger, larger dogs in her foster home. She doesn’t like being confined or kept away from the activities of the home. Crate training would be pretty difficult - lots of barking. Apartment living may not be the best option for her. We have no experience with her as an only dog. We would recommend that she go to a home with other playful, friendly dogs. Please note that we don’t adopt any of our dogs out to homes with children under the age of 13. Thelma is sweet, smart, energetic, loyal, and goofy! She is fully house-trained and is working on her leash skills which have really improved with her current foster family. She gets along well with other dogs and older kids. (She has not been introduced to cats yet.) She loves her squeaky toys and playing tug-a-war with other dogs. Rub her tummy and she gets blissed out. Super friendly on walks-wants to say hello to everybody: canine and human. Loves to run full speed when she can. Story
* To be considered for a meet/adoption, please read the full biography to see whether they may be a good fit for your home, then submit an application. * This dog will be at the Palo Alto Pet Food Express on Saturday, June 27th from 12-3 PM unless adopted prior to the event.   All DPS Rescue dogs are spayed/neutered, vaccinated, dewormed, flea/tick treated, and microchipped prior to adoption.   Adoption fee: $500 Meet Starfruit, the professional nap enthusiast who believes life’s greatest joys are belly rubs, leisurely walks, and sleeping approximately 18 hours a day. At 6–7 years old, this adorable little Chug has perfected the art of cozy living and is searching for a loving home where she can continue her career as a full-time cuddle companion.   Daily Routine   Starfruit keeps life simple and sweet. Her mornings begin around 10 AM with a potty break followed by breakfast. After that? Back to bed, naturally. She spends most of her day lounging comfortably in her favorite bed in the living room, though she insists on following her person from room to room like the world’s cutest little shadow.   She heads out again for potty breaks around 4 PM and 8 PM, with dinner served between 7–8 PM. By bedtime, Starfruit is happily curled up beside her human, ready for another peaceful night of snoring softly and conducting her adorable overnight “security checks.”   Every so often during the night, she’ll briefly wake up to make sure everyone is still present and accounted for. One reassuring arm stretch from her person, and she immediately settles back into dreamland. It’s both hilarious and ridiculously endearing.   Personality   Starfruit may be a sleepy couch potato, but underneath all those naps is an incredibly loving, sensitive, and devoted little dog. When she first arrived at her foster home, she was extremely timid. She spent her first day trembling quietly in her crate, unsure of her surroundings and hesitant to trust anyone.   With patience, gentleness, and plenty of comfort, Starfruit slowly began to open up. Now, she has completely blossomed into a cuddly, affectionate velcro dog who wants nothing more than to be near her favorite humans. She follows her foster everywhere, eagerly asks for pets throughout the day, and sleeps happily snuggled right beside them.   She’s also surprisingly smart and learns commands quickly—often after hearing them only a couple of times. She’s sensitive, attentive, and very in tune with her people. Correct her gently, and she immediately understands.   Starfruit’s only tiny diva moment? She refuses to eat plain kibble without a tasty topper. Honestly, she has standards.   Around Other Dogs & New Experiences   Though Starfruit was initially nervous around other dogs, she has grown much more confident over time. These days, she may cautiously greet other pups or give a brave little bark while simultaneously keeping one paw ready for a speedy retreat if necessary. It’s a very “I’m tough… but also maybe not” kind of energy.   She’s not particularly playful and would much rather lounge on the couch than chase toys around the house. However, mention the word “walk,” and suddenly Starfruit transforms into a happy-dancing social butterfly. Walks are absolutely the highlight of her day.   She walks nicely on leash and rarely pulls, except when approaching elevators or large trash cans, which she finds deeply suspicious and mildly terrifying.   Training & Manners   Starfruit is house trained, crate trained, and comfortable relaxing in a play pen. She’s quiet overall and only tends to bark when unfamiliar people appear at the front door.   She doesn’t chew, dig, or get destructive, and she has wonderfully calm house manners. She truly thrives in a peaceful, predictable environment.   Ideal Home   Starfruit would love a calm, loving home with people who appreciate a quieter, lower-energy companion. She doesn’t need endless adventures or constant activity—she just wants closeness, affection, soft beds, and someone to adore.   Because she’s a clingy little shadow, her future family should be prepared to have a permanent tiny assistant following closely behind them at all times. Personal space? Not really her thing.   She also sheds a little, but her foster says she more than makes up for it with her sweetness.   Why You’ll Fall in Love   Starfruit is the kind of dog who quietly sneaks into your heart and never leaves. She’s gentle, disciplined, affectionate, and incredibly easy to love. Her foster describes her as the ultimate stress reliever—especially when she’s curled up in their arms, snoring peacefully without a care in the world.   All Starfruit wants is love, cuddles, belly rubs, and someone who will cherish her exactly as she is. And honestly? That’s pretty easy to do. June 25, 2026, 10:45 pm

Story
Happy Holidays! My name is Izzy. I'm a fun loving 8 year old gal that doesn't let my age get in the way of having a merry good time! I was rescued by a dog loving lady and driven all the way from an overcrowded shelter in L.A. I was saved without a moment to spare. I was sick as a dog with a terrible cold and cough along with double ear infections. I was in desperate need of some TLC and medical attention. I have now recovered from my cold, cherry eye repair and spay. I'm a loving little lady that loves people and children. Yes, any human that pets and shows me love, I am yours! I'm meeting new dogs and like the small ones best. I'm learning proper introductions to bigger dogs, I get so overly excited I get a bit pushy and realizing dogs don't want to play with me so much. I'm enjoying car rides, love treats and getting better with short walks. I'm happy with my comfy bed and enjoy being the center of attention! I love it when people call me cute, what a little doll and stuff like that. I like dressing up, I get more attention and treats that way. If your looking for a loyal little lady to be by your side snuggled up watching the New Year's Eve celebrations, I'm your gal! Just look how cute I am all dressed up! Story
Adopt Bindi What can we say about BINDI? The perfect puppy. She is absolutely a gem. Dogs no problem, people no problem, kids no problem , fireworks? No big deal. She rides in the car. Super great either in a crate or in her seat. She sleeps through the night in her crate very well! As long as there is a way to the backyard she knows how to use the bathroom outside. While she does love to get a little rowdy with her current brothers and sister, she can also chill and relax, just as easy. She has one quirk .. which is that she does suffer from mega esophagus. So that being said she does much better in cooler temperatures. So she doesn’t over drink water and regurgitate and best to have a raised bowl. This is a condition where her esophagus does not have the muscle tone and it is hard for food to get from her esophagus to her stomach correctly. We had a wonderful Neighbor build her a special “Bailey“ chair which she eats her meals in and sits in with a lick mat for approximately 20 minutes. We have worked very hard on a meal plan that works awesome for her. And with that she maybe has zero to one regurgitation a day. She doesn’t need much exercise .Short walks or play dates are awesome and fun for her. A home with more mellow siblings would probably be best for her. She is the sweetest most loving puppy and I think she deserves a home that will put her needs first. She’s overall such a good dog and any family would be lucky to have her be part of the pack! Her breed mix is an old English bulldog mix. That 100% the cutest girl ever. To meet her please apply. She is located in Half moon bay caMarch 8, 2026, 12:21 am
