Feather or Gus. We are neutered, chipped & vaccinated. We are Pug Schnauzer mix. Mom is 100% Pug & dad is Schnauzer/mini Poodle. We are 4 months old & our days consist of playing & taking naps. We are doing awesome with potty-training. Being 50% pug means we will shed. Even if you think maybe we won't because of our Schnauzer genes, it's better to assume that we will, because pugs shed a lot, so we won't be good in a home w/someone w/allergies. We are very playful. We are not crate-trained, although we do sleep in a playpen w/each other. We’ve never been alone before, so we will probably need to get used to it, or maybe someone will adopt who has a pup friend already. Tell us about yourself. Your location, your current pets, your work schedule & any info about your household. Adopt one... or maybe both!

Story
Pug / Dachshund Mix Age: ≈ 4 years old Female, spayed 15 lbs Adoption Fee: $125 (includes spay/neuter, microchip, vaccinations) Cheerio came to the Sacramento County Shelter underweight and with an embedded foxtail in her neck. It was removed surgically, but post-op they had trouble stopping the bleeding. She tested negative for any blood clotting disorder - perhaps the surgery nicked an artery? Eventually, the bleeding stopped, but it left her anemic. The shelter needed a rescue group that specializes in medical cases to continue addressing her veterinary needs. Over time in foster care, her anemia improved and she gained her weight back. She is a very friendly, sweet dog. She likes attention and affection from her foster parents and volunteers. She likes roughhousing with the younger, larger dogs in her foster home. She doesn’t like being confined or kept away from the activities of the home. Crate training would be pretty difficult - lots of barking. Apartment living may not be the best option for her. We have no experience with her as an only dog. We would recommend that she go to a home with other playful, friendly dogs. Please note that we don’t adopt any of our dogs out to homes with children under the age of 13. Thelma is sweet, smart, energetic, loyal, and goofy! She is fully house-trained and is working on her leash skills which have really improved with her current foster family. She gets along well with other dogs and older kids. (She has not been introduced to cats yet.) She loves her squeaky toys and playing tug-a-war with other dogs. Rub her tummy and she gets blissed out. Super friendly on walks-wants to say hello to everybody: canine and human. Loves to run full speed when she can. Meet this 18-pound gal by filling out an application and a volunteer will contact you. (JH)

Story
* To be considered for a meet/adoption, please read the full biography to see whether they may be a good fit for your home, then submit an online application at www.dpsrescue.org.* This dog will be at the Palo Alto Pet Food Express on Saturday, July 11th from 12-3 PM unless adopted prior to the event.   All DPS Rescue dogs are spayed/neutered, vaccinated, dewormed, flea/tick treated, and microchipped prior to adoption.   Adoption fee: $750 Meet Taffy: The Sweetest Little Loaf You'll Ever Love   If sugar could wag its tail, have an adorable underbite, and occasionally snore with its tongue sticking out, it would be Taffy.   This precious 3-4 year old, 29 lb Pug is equal parts couch potato, loyal sidekick, and professional heart thief. She doesn't ask for much in life— just a cozy place to nap, a few leisurely walks, and the privilege of following you absolutely everywhere. Bathroom? She's coming. Kitchen? She's already there. Laundry room? Obviously she has to supervise.   She simply wants to be wherever her favorite person is.   A Day in the Life of Miss Taffy   Taffy likes a predictable schedule and settles beautifully into daily life. On workdays, she starts the morning around 7:00 a.m. with a nice 15-minute walk before breakfast. While her foster is at work, she relaxes comfortably in her x-pen with a cozy bed, water, and breakfast waiting for her. She's proven to be wonderfully trustworthy and has never had an accident while home alone.   When her person gets home, she's ready for another stroll, followed by dinner and one final evening walk before bedtime. At night, she sleeps peacefully in her crate like the perfect little lady.   On weekends or work-from-home days, she happily adds an extra lunchtime walk and even enjoys longer adventures—she's completed walks up to 2½ miles while keeping an easy pace and never pulling on leash.   Velcro? More Like Super Glue.   Taffy's favorite hobby is...you.   She's one of those rare dogs who genuinely seems happiest just existing beside her person. If you move rooms, she moves rooms. If you sit down, she'll happily settle beside you. If you head to the bathroom, congratulations—you've got company.   Despite being incredibly attached to her people, she isn't demanding. She's perfectly content to simply nap nearby while you work, watch TV, read a book, or scroll your phone.   And yes...her tiny tongue often sticks out while she sleeps. Between that, her adorable underbite, and the occasional soft snore, she's basically impossible not to fall in love with.   Certified Couch Potato...With Surprise Zoomies   About 98% of the time, Taffy can be found doing what she does best:   Napping.   Lounging.   Perfecting the art of being an adorable potato.   But every now and then, if you encourage her to play, a completely different dog appears. Wiggle your hands, act playful, and suddenly this calm little pug transforms into a zooming loaf of bread flying laps around the couch at full speed.   It's unexpected.   It's hilarious.   And it's over almost as quickly as it started.   The Definition of Easygoing   Fireworks? No problem.   Garbage trucks? Doesn't care.   Motorcycles? Barely worth looking at.   Barking neighbor dogs? She strolls right past.   Taffy has one of the calmest temperaments you'll find. She hardly ever barks and takes life's surprises in stride. During the Fourth of July, she calmly walked outside during peak fireworks without batting an eye.   She enjoys meeting new people and will happily accept pets from complete strangers. If someone offers affection, she's already convinced they're a new best friend.   Walks Are Her Happy Place   Taffy is an absolute pleasure on leash.   She walks politely without pulling and enjoys exploring at a comfortable pace. If she spots another dog across the street, she'll stop to admire them and may lean toward saying hello, but she has shown no barking or reactive behavior.   She's simply curious and social.   House Manners? Straight A's.   Aside from one understandable accident on her very first day, Taffy has been completely house trained.   She sleeps soundly in her crate every night and has even started putting herself to bed when her foster tells her it's bedtime.   She isn't destructive, doesn't chew things she's not supposed to, doesn't dig, and is generally one of the easiest roommates you could ask for.   She may bark or whine briefly when her person first leaves the house, but this has steadily improved as she's learned they'll always come back.   A Gentle Heart   One of the most touching things about Taffy is how forgiving she is.   Sometimes she'll flinch when someone reaches toward her, suggesting she may not have always been treated with the kindness she deserves. Yet despite whatever happened in her past, she still chooses to trust people.   She greets strangers with hopeful eyes, welcomes affection, and has never shown any aggression toward her foster.   She truly has one of the sweetest souls you'll ever meet.   The Home She's Been Waiting For   Taffy doesn't need an exciting lifestyle.   She doesn't need marathon hikes or endless games of fetch.   She simply wants a family that adores her as much as she'll adore them.   Whether you work from home or head into the office, Taffy adapts beautifully as long as she gets quality time with her people. As with any pug, her future family should be prepared to keep her facial folds clean and be mindful of warm weather since pugs can overheat more easily.   Most importantly, she's looking for someone who will let her love them completely.   Because that's exactly what she'll do.   Why You'll Fall for Taffy   Some dogs impress you with tricks.   Some amaze you with athletic ability.   Taffy's superpower is making you feel loved.   One look into those enormous puppy-dog eyes—especially when paired with her tiny tongue sticking out—and you'll understand why her foster says she's the sweetest dog they've ever met.   She's gentle, funny, loyal, wonderfully low maintenance, and full of quiet charm.   Favorite Taffy Moments   Taffy has perfected the art of keeping her foster laughing.     She has an Oscar-worthy begging face. She never pesters for food, but those giant eyes could make even the strongest person question every life decision they've ever made. Think Puss in Boots...but somehow even more convincing.   And lately, she's learned that when it's time for her foster to leave for work, she can delay the inevitable by sprinting underneath the dining room table where she's just out of reach.   She's clever.   She's hilarious.   She's unbelievably sweet.   And she's more than ready to find the person she'll spend the rest of her life following from room to room. July 11, 2026, 12:52 am

From the moment she arrived, she has been social, confident, and eager to connect with people and other dogs.   At first, she was very much a “velcro dog,” wanting to follow her person everywhere and stay close at all times. As she has settled in, she has gained confidence and now also enjoys independent downtime, often choosing to nap in another room once she feels comfortable.   She is incredibly curious about everything and everyone. On walks, she regularly stops to wag her tail at passersby, fully expecting— and often receiving— pets and attention. If she recognizes someone she’s met before, she may even whine a little in excitement until she gets her greeting, as if to say, 'Hi friend! I love you!'   She is affectionate and social, but not overly clingy once she’s settled. She enjoys being near her people, but also knows how to relax on her own.   Daily Routine   Praline starts her day bright and early around 6:00 a.m. with a quick potty break, followed by breakfast around 7:00 a.m. She enjoys a solid play session for about 45 minutes afterward, then settles in for a long morning nap that can last until late morning or even noon.   Her afternoons are a nice balance of activity and rest. She typically goes out for a 30–40 minute walk mid-day, followed by a small snack. After more play and nap time, she eats lunch around 2:00 p.m. She enjoys another walk in the late afternoon (around 4:00–6:00 p.m.), dinner at 7:00 p.m., and a final potty break around 10:30 p.m.     Praline is highly food motivated, so meals are scatter-fed to slow her down and turn eating into a fun enrichment game she genuinely loves.   Social Behavior (Dogs, Cats, Kids)   Praline is very social with other dogs and generally plays well, especially with dogs that match her energy. Some older or lower-energy dogs may find her enthusiasm a bit much after a while, but her play style is typically gentle and engaging, and she is often invited back into play again and again.   She has shown curiosity and playfulness toward cats, though her exposure has been limited.   She is friendly with children of various ages, including toddlers and older kids. She is affectionate and often gives gentle licks, but she does get excited and may jump or nibble when overstimulated, as is typical of a puppy her age, so she does best with supervision around small children.   Energy Level & Play Style   Praline loves fetch, loves being outside, and absolutely loves engaging with people and other dogs. She can run, play, and explore for long stretches, and still come home ready for more interaction.   That said, she is still a puppy and can become overstimulated. When she reaches that point, she responds very well to redirection. A treat tossed into her crate is often all it takes; she willingly settles in and falls asleep quickly for a solid rest.   Leash Skills, Drive & Travel   Praline walks well on leash and also enjoys running alongside her person. She is still learning not to criss-cross in front when running, but overall handles leash work well.   She does not bark at other dogs, even when they bark at her, which is notable given her age and energy level.   She loves chasing lizards, followed by birds and squirrels. She is an excellent car passenger and happily hops in for rides and adventures.   House & Crate Training   Praline is house trained, though she may have occasional accidents if she drinks a lot of water and wakes from a deep nap. With consistent outings every 3–4 hours, she does very well.   She is also crate trained. She sleeps in her crate through the night and will often choose to nap there during the day. The crate is an effective tool for helping her settle when she becomes overstimulated. She does not yet respond to the word 'crate', but happily goes in for a treat.   Training & Intelligence   Praline is extremely smart and highly food motivated, which makes her very trainable.   She quickly mastered an intermediate-level puzzle toy in just a few minutes and is already working on more advanced enrichment games. She has learned “sit” and “down” quickly, though she sometimes mixes them up as she continues to learn. She is currently working on “stay.”   She loves using her brain and thrives when given tasks, puzzles, or training sessions.   Ideal Home   Praline would do best in an active home that can match her energy and provide consistent structure, exercise, and enrichment. A home with another young, playful dog would be ideal, or an active family with older children who can participate in her energy and play needs.   She is best suited for someone who enjoys an engaged, interactive dog who wants to be part of everything.   Favorite Things   Praline’s foster home is full of favorite moments— watching her excitement when she sees her “regulars” for pets, her joy during fetch sessions, her dedication to food puzzles, and her comedic habit of collecting questionable treasures on walks.   She is equally lovable when she is zooming around outside or curled up for a peaceful nap. She brings a constant mix of chaos, intelligence, and affection that makes every day with her memorable. July 11, 2026, 12:52 am

Story
Happy Holidays! My name is Izzy. I'm a fun loving 8 year old gal that doesn't let my age get in the way of having a merry good time! I was rescued by a dog loving lady and driven all the way from an overcrowded shelter in L.A. I was saved without a moment to spare. I was sick as a dog with a terrible cold and cough along with double ear infections. I was in desperate need of some TLC and medical attention. I have now recovered from my cold, cherry eye repair and spay. I'm a loving little lady that loves people and children. Yes, any human that pets and shows me love, I am yours! I'm meeting new dogs and like the small ones best. I'm learning proper introductions to bigger dogs, I get so overly excited I get a bit pushy and realizing dogs don't want to play with me so much. I'm enjoying car rides, love treats and getting better with short walks. I'm happy with my comfy bed and enjoy being the center of attention! I love it when people call me cute, what a little doll and stuff like that. I like dressing up, I get more attention and treats that way. If your looking for a loyal little lady to be by your side snuggled up watching the New Year's Eve celebrations, I'm your gal! Just look how cute I am all dressed up! Story
Adopt Bindi What can we say about BINDI? The perfect puppy. She is absolutely a gem. Dogs no problem, people no problem, kids no problem , fireworks? No big deal. She rides in the car. Super great either in a crate or in her seat. She sleeps through the night in her crate very well! As long as there is a way to the backyard she knows how to use the bathroom outside. While she does love to get a little rowdy with her current brothers and sister, she can also chill and relax, just as easy. She has one quirk .. which is that she does suffer from mega esophagus. So that being said she does much better in cooler temperatures. So she doesn’t over drink water and regurgitate and best to have a raised bowl. This is a condition where her esophagus does not have the muscle tone and it is hard for food to get from her esophagus to her stomach correctly. We had a wonderful Neighbor build her a special “Bailey“ chair which she eats her meals in and sits in with a lick mat for approximately 20 minutes. We have worked very hard on a meal plan that works awesome for her. And with that she maybe has zero to one regurgitation a day. She doesn’t need much exercise .Short walks or play dates are awesome and fun for her. A home with more mellow siblings would probably be best for her. She is the sweetest most loving puppy and I think she deserves a home that will put her needs first. She’s overall such a good dog and any family would be lucky to have her be part of the pack! Her breed mix is an old English bulldog mix. That 100% the cutest girl ever. To meet her please apply. She is located in Half moon bay caMarch 8, 2026, 12:21 am
