Pug / Dachshund Mix Age: ≈ 4 years old Female, spayed 15 lbs Adoption Fee: $125 (includes spay/neuter, microchip, vaccinations) Cheerio came to the Sacramento County Shelter underweight and with an embedded foxtail in her neck. It was removed surgically, but post-op they had trouble stopping the bleeding. She tested negative for any blood clotting disorder - perhaps the surgery nicked an artery? Eventually, the bleeding stopped, but it left her anemic. The shelter needed a rescue group that specializes in medical cases to continue addressing her veterinary needs. Over time in foster care, her anemia improved and she gained her weight back. She is a very friendly, sweet dog. She likes attention and affection from her foster parents and volunteers. She likes roughhousing with the younger, larger dogs in her foster home. She doesn’t like being confined or kept away from the activities of the home. Crate training would be pretty difficult - lots of barking. Apartment living may not be the best option for her. We have no experience with her as an only dog. We would recommend that she go to a home with other playful, friendly dogs. Please note that we don’t adopt any of our dogs out to homes with children under the age of 13. Thelma is sweet, smart, energetic, loyal, and goofy! She is fully house-trained and is working on her leash skills which have really improved with her current foster family. She gets along well with other dogs and older kids. (She has not been introduced to cats yet.) She can be a bit anxious, so she probably needs someone who is mostly home. She loves her squeaky toys and playing tug-a-war with other dogs. Rub her tummy and she gets blissed out. Super friendly on walks-wants to say hello to everybody: canine and human. True to her name, she has a playful personality full of charm, expression, and a few adorable surprises along the way. One minute she’s a sleepy couch potato, the next she’s zooming around the house like the grand finale of game night. With her sweet nature and irresistible puppy-dog eyes, she has a way of winning hearts without saying a word.   Daily Routine & Lifestyle   Charades starts her day around 7:30–7:45am with a successful potty break— she reliably goes outside—followed by breakfast (kibble topped with turkey or salmon, her personal favorites). She’s currently working on house training and is doing very well with a consistent schedule, heading out every few hours, usually timed around meals and water.   During the day, Charades is happiest lounging near her people. She enjoys plenty of naps, sprinkled with playful bursts of energy and toy time. While she’s clever enough to break out if she really wanted to, she understands the rules and chooses to stay put like the polite young lady she is.   Personality: The Perfect Balance   Charades is a happy, confident, playful pup who clearly enjoys life.   She strikes a wonderful balance between independence and affection. She isn’t overly clingy, but she loves to check in for regular cuddle sessions throughout the day— think of them as her scheduled “appointments” for belly rubs and lap time. She adores face scratches, cozy snuggles, and being close to her people.   Charades is also very smart. She quickly learns routines and picks up on cues, making her a rewarding dog to train and live with.   Social Life   Charades is fantastic with other dogs. She’s playful, polite, and reads social cues well, happily interacting with both large and small canine friends.   Her signature move on walks is an instant crowd favorite—she performs a tiny “play bow” and lies down to appear friendly and non-threatening to new dogs and people. Yes, he’s a bit of a chunky fellow who could stand to lose a few pounds — but don’t tell him that, because in his mind he’s an Olympic athlete! This happy, energetic boy brings laughter, enthusiasm, and nonstop affection wherever he goes. His joy for life is truly contagious, and he’s ready to bounce his way right into his forever home.   Pillsbury recently went to stay with a temporary foster and they shared that he connected with them within minutes of arriving and quickly made himself part of the household. In their words, he brings “lots of joy, love, cuddles, and laughter every day,” and they believe anyone meeting him would want to adopt him within the first ten minutes. It’s easy to see why — Pillsbury has that rare combination of playful energy, affectionate sweetness, and wonderful manners that makes him an absolute delight to live with.   Daily Routine   Pillsbury starts his day between 7–8 a.m., quietly waiting in his crate until his people are ready to begin the day. He reliably heads outside to potty right away — he’s been wonderfully consistent with his house training and has had no accidents indoors.   After breakfast (which he enthusiastically enjoys — this boy is very food motivated), he’s ready for whatever the day brings. He loves walks, especially trips to the park, and gets adorably excited the moment he sees his people putting on their shoes.   Throughout the day, he rotates between playtime, relaxing near his people, and keeping an eye on household activity from his favorite cozy spots — often the kitchen, the couch, or anywhere he can be part of the action. He settles beautifully when playtime ends and is just as happy to curl up for a nap beside you as he is to zoom around the yard.   In the evening, he happily heads into his crate and sleeps soundly through the night, adjusting easily to new routines from day one.   Personality: Affectionate, Adaptable, and Full of Heart   Pillsbury is incredibly affectionate and people-oriented, but in a very easygoing way. He loves attention, cuddles, and belly rubs, yet he isn’t demanding about it. Happy Holidays! My name is Izzy. I'm a fun loving 8 year old gal that doesn't let my age get in the way of having a merry good time! I was rescued by a dog loving lady and driven all the way from an overcrowded shelter in L.A. I was saved without a moment to spare. I was sick as a dog with a terrible cold and cough along with double ear infections. I was in desperate need of some TLC and medical attention. I have now recovered from my cold, cherry eye repair and spay. I'm a loving little lady that loves people and children. Yes, any human that pets and shows me love, I am yours! I'm meeting new dogs and like the small ones best. I'm learning proper introductions to bigger dogs, I get so overly excited I get a bit pushy and realizing dogs don't want to play with me so much. I'm enjoying car rides, love treats and getting better with short walks. I'm happy with my comfy bed and enjoy being the center of attention! I love it when people call me cute, what a little doll and stuff like that. I like dressing up, I get more attention and treats that way. Adopt Bindi What can we say about BINDI? The perfect puppy. She is absolutely a gem. Dogs no problem, people no problem, kids no problem , fireworks? No big deal. She rides in the car. Super great either in a crate or in her seat. She sleeps through the night in her crate very well! As long as there is a way to the backyard she knows how to use the bathroom outside. While she does love to get a little rowdy with her current brothers and sister, she can also chill and relax, just as easy. She has one quirk .. which is that she does suffer from mega esophagus. So that being said she does much better in cooler temperatures. So she doesn’t over drink water and regurgitate and best to have a raised bowl. This is a condition where her esophagus does not have the muscle tone and it is hard for food to get from her esophagus to her stomach correctly. We had a wonderful Neighbor build her a special “Bailey“ chair which she eats her meals in and sits in with a lick mat for approximately 20 minutes. We have worked very hard on a meal plan that works awesome for her. And with that she maybe has zero to one regurgitation a day. She doesn’t need much exercise .Short walks or play dates are awesome and fun for her. A home with more mellow siblings would probably be best for her. She is the sweetest most loving puppy and I think she deserves a home that will put her needs first. She’s overall such a good dog and any family would be lucky to have her be part of the pack! Raisin is the sweetest and most playful puppy. She was saved from the Riverside animal shelter where she was neglected in her previous life. She barely had any fur and now look at her smooth coat. She is so cute and very energetic . She likes to travel in the car and be by your side. She gets along with dogs and smaller dogs would be a perfect match since she is very small.
