Adoption fee: $750 Meet Chef Boyardee! 2 years old * 17 lbs * Pug   Straight from the shelter to the test kitchen, Chef Boyardee is serving up a full-course meal of fun, energy, and pure pug personality. At just about 2 years old and 17 pounds, this compact little chef is proof that big flavor really does come in small packages.   A Day in the Life of the Chef Chef starts his mornings between 7–8am and immediately insists on his signature opening act: a 30-minute walk to inspect the neighborhood and gather inspiration. Once back home, he enjoys breakfast right away before settling into his x-pen to relax and recharge. In the afternoon, he heads out for a shorter walk, followed by some mental enrichment— puzzle toys, Kongs, chew bones, or a little training session to sharpen his skills.   Around 6pm, Chef is back on duty for his longest walk of the day (30–40 minutes), then it’s time for dinner. Evenings are reserved for what he does best: dramatically emptying the entire toy bin and sampling every option before bedtime. He finishes his day with a short walk around 9:30pm and sleeps in his crate in the living room. He may protest briefly when crated, but he settles quickly and sleeps through the night like a professional.   Personality & Training Chef Boyardee is extremely playful and goofy! Squeaky toys are a personal favorite, and he loves a good chase— he’s surprisingly fast and can keep up with even speedy dogs. While he’s not much of a lap dog, he does enjoy staying close, just in case a ball might be thrown at any moment. When he first arrived, Chef was still learning the basics. Since then, he’s added sit, wait, leave it, and spin to his growing skill set. Training is ongoing, but he’s very food motivated and eager to learn with consistency and patience. His signature move? An adorable counterclockwise spin that comes out whenever he’s excited.   Social Life Chef loves other dogs and wants to play constantly. He’s still learning polite play skills and how to read when another dog isn’t in the mood, but he’s making steady progress. He hasn’t been around kids yet, but he adores all the humans he’s met on walks. He’s met a cat once and showed interest but also some uncertainty; he may be an option with cats if slow intros and initial separation is possible. He also rides beautifully in the car—quiet, calm, and ready for the next adventure.   Leash Skills On leash, he’s a work in progress. He pulls, barks at other dogs out of excitement, and lunges toward cars, so continued leash training will be important. He has learned “leave it” on walks (especially when treats are involved) and loves picking up interesting treasures like sticks, pinecones, and rocks along the way.   Home Life & Habits Chef is mostly housetrained and has had no accidents after initial few days in new environments. He is crate trained and settles after a brief whine. He does enjoy chewing and sometimes thinks fingers are toys, so redirection with appropriate chew toys is key. He may bark when new people come over, but once he knows them, he switches from barking to enthusiastic, jumpy greetings.   Why Chef Boyardee? Chef is joyful, goofy, and always ready for whatever comes next. He’s the kind of dog who brings constant motion, laughter, and positivity into your life. With his expressive pug face, happy-go-lucky attitude, and food-motivated brain, he’s a wonderful candidate for someone excited to continue training and channel his enthusiasm. If you’re looking for a dog who approaches life with tail wags, spins, and an unshakable zest for adventure, Chef Boyardee is ready to take your order.March 2, 2026, 11:19 am

Story
Pug / Dachshund Mix Age: ≈ 4 years old Female, spayed 15 lbs Adoption Fee: $125 (includes spay/neuter, microchip, vaccinations) Cheerio came to the Sacramento County Shelter underweight and with an embedded foxtail in her neck. It was removed surgically, but post-op they had trouble stopping the bleeding. She tested negative for any blood clotting disorder - perhaps the surgery nicked an artery? Eventually, the bleeding stopped, but it left her anemic. The shelter needed a rescue group that specializes in medical cases to continue addressing her veterinary needs. Over time in foster care, her anemia improved and she gained her weight back. She is a very friendly, sweet dog. She likes attention and affection from her foster parents and volunteers. She likes roughhousing with the younger, larger dogs in her foster home. She doesn’t like being confined or kept away from the activities of the home. Crate training would be pretty difficult - lots of barking. Apartment living may not be the best option for her. We have no experience with her as an only dog. We would recommend that she go to a home with other playful, friendly dogs. Please note that we don’t adopt any of our dogs out to homes with children under the age of 13. You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Hunky Mack!Meet Mack! This sweet, hunky boy is an amazing cuddly companion! Mack's favorite place is hanging out with his humans, but no worries, when you need to leave him home, he is happy to hang out and snooze while you are away. Be prepared to be welcomed home as if you've been away for months - even if it was just an hour! Mack lives for his three daily walks, rides like a champ in the car, and can snooze just about anywhere. He’s also been an absolute star when it comes to his eye and skin care routines — what a good boy! Mack has recently started working with a trainer to improve his dog-ignoring skills. He has quickly learned that a happy "let's go" from his mom means he doesn't need to worry about the dog he just spotted - she has his back and he can relax! Mack is ready for a Bully-savvy home that wants to give a young dog the time, structure and love he needs to become his very best self - are you that home? Story
Meet Dumpling — our sweet, sun-loving goofball who runs entirely on solar power (and maybe just a little bit on snacks… okay, a lot on snacks!). This lovable girl adores people of all ages — adults, kids, and even the tiniest humans. She’s spent time with children as young as 6 and 8, soaking up their affection and happily joining in the fun. Dumpling is happiest when she’s out for a walk, basking in the sunshine, or curled up on a comfy bed dreaming about her next treat. She’s a certified food enthusiast — in her mind, every moment is the perfect time for a snack. While she’s not great with other dogs and has a strong prey drive toward small animals (dogs, cats, birds — anything littler than her), she’s a perfect only-pet companion. In return for your love, walks, and a steady supply of goodies, Dumpling will give you endless affection, big smiles, and the joy of sharing life with a true character. Story
This sweet 4-year-old Bulldog mix was rescued from the shelter on the very day he was scheduled to be euthanized—and he’s been making the most of his second chance at life ever since. Dozer is the ultimate couch potato at about 50 pounds of pure love. If you’re looking for a best buddy who will stick by your side like a shadow, Dozer is your guy. He’s funny, affectionate, and absolutely adores his person. Dozer is very gentle with his human, though he can be a little bold and rough around other dogs—especially when it comes to sharing food or treats. Because of this, he’d do best as the only dog in the home, where he can soak up all the love and attention for himself. If you’ve been feeling lonely, Dozer will fill your life (and your couch) with loyalty, laughter, and endless cuddles. ❤️ To learn more about Dozer visit his FB page: https://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=61572948911082 Please familiarize yourself with our Adoption Process: https://angelsfurryfriends.org/adoption-process/ If interested to schedule an Appointment to meet, please fill out Adoption application: https://angelsfurryfriends.org/adoption-application-dogs/ We are a small, all Volunteer Foster Based Rescue Group, we do not have a Shelter Location.
