Story
Sweet, affectionate female pug mix looking for a loving new home. She is being rehomed due to our infant daughter testing highly allergic to dogs. This decision was made with her best interest in mind, as she deserves a home where she can continue to receive love and attention without health concerns. She is friendly, gentle, and great with kids, dogs, and cats, making her a wonderful companion for the right family.

Story
All of our dogs are spayed/neutered, shots current (DHPP, Bordetella and Rabies where applicable), dewormed, flea and tick treated, and microchipped.  * If you are interested in a dog, please first read the biography on the dog (keep scrolling down for the bio!) and then go to our website, www.dpsrescue.com for an application. Our adoption fees vary. Each biography will specifically list the adoption fee. This dog will be at the Palo Alto Pet Food Express on Saturday, February 7th from 12-3pm unless adopted prior to the event. To be considered for adoption, pls submit an application in advance.   Adoption fee: $650   Meet Linus! 12-14 weeks old * Chug * 7 lbs   Linus's siblings got adopted, so he's currently being fostered with Blaze, who is also flying solo.   Blaze and Linus are the last of their litter still waiting for forever homes, and while they didn’t plan it this way, being fostered together has turned into something really special. They were feeling a little lonely on their own, so they were paired up— and quickly became the very best of friends. You’ll often find them wrestling, racing around the yard, sharing toys, or curled up together in the same bed for naps and nighttime sleep. Despite loving hanging out in their foster home together, we are looking for separate homes for them.   Daily routine These boys start their day bright and early, usually between 6-7am, when their humans rise. Breakfast follows around 6:30–7:00am, lunch between 1:00–2:30pm, and dinner around 6–7pm. By 8–9pm, they’re happily settling into their x-pen for the night. They eat puppy kibble, enjoy dog treats, and get the occasional bully stick. Since they’re not fully vaccinated yet, they’re not going on walks, but they get plenty of playtime at home and in the yard—which they absolutely love.   When no one is home, they’re safely contained in their pen. On three weekdays, that’s typically from about 7:45am until early afternoon. When the family is home, Blaze and Linus rotate between their play area, supervised time roaming the house, and joyful zoomies in the yard.   When he transitioned to his new foster home, Linus gained confidence quickly and began following Blaze out to explore and play. He’s athletic, strong, and impressively clever. He often has the edge during wrestling matches and has been known to perch thoughtfully on top of barriers, deciding whether to retreat or leap to freedom. He’s affectionate, soft-coated, and adores other dogs!   Blaze and Linus are playful, energetic puppies with lots of enthusiasm for life. They love tug-of-war, chasing each other, running with kids, and tearing around the yard—especially through leaf piles. If one finds a leaf or stick, the other must have the same one, even if there are a hundred more nearby. They’re not velcro dogs, but that may be because they have each other; they naturally gravitate back together if they’re ever apart.   They adore people of all ages, including kids (9–14), greeting everyone with excitement, kisses, and requests to be picked up. Both are affectionate, enjoy laps and being held, and are especially cuddly when they’re winding down after a busy day.   Training & habits They’re doing well with potty pads in their pen and are learning to use pads more consistently in larger spaces. As puppies, they do nip and chew, especially when excited or teething, but they’re easily redirected to toys and are learning quickly.   Why you’ll love him Linus is clever, athletic, and emotionally tuned in, always checking on his people and his best friend. Together, they’re funny, loving, and endlessly entertaining.   Blaze and Linus are the kind of puppies who leave paw prints on your heart— and who will happily end every day with one last cuddle before bed.February 3, 2026, 11:31 am

This dog will be at the Palo Alto Pet Food Express on Saturday, February 7th from 12-3pm unless adopted prior to the event. To be considered for adoption, pls submit an application in advance. Adoption Fee: $750This is Spaghettios, a perfectly round, delightfully squishy Pug who looks like she may have enjoyed one too many bowls of her namesake. Spaghettios is a 2 year old purebred Pug, weighs 21 pounds, is female, and came to us from the shelter. She is built for comfort, not speed, and carries herself with the quiet confidence of a dog who knows she is exactly where she belongs. Think classic Pug charm with a little extra pasta energy. She is round in all the right places, irresistibly huggable, and ready to settle into her forever home. Ghetti is what happens when you mix sweetness, calm confidence, and a pug who has clearly decided that life is best enjoyed at a leisurely pace. She is gentle, patient, and deeply affectionate. This girl is a professional cuddler. Lap available? She is in it. Couch free? She is claiming it. Sunbeam on the floor? She will rotate herself like a rotisserie chicken until she is evenly warmed. She is wonderful with people, polite with dogs, and carries herself like a lady who knows she does not need to rush anywhere. She is friendly, well mannered, and so easy to have around that you may forget she has only been with you a short time. Spaghettios’ daily routine is calm, cozy, and very on brand for her vibe. The day starts around 7 to 8 a.m. with breakfast, followed by a few minutes of snuggling while her foster drinks coffee. Ghetti lets herself out through the doggy door to potty like the independent woman she is. During the day, she hangs out wherever her person is, either stretched out on the couch soaking up sunshine or lying quietly on the floor nearby. As her confidence has grown, she has even started taking herself outside to lie in the sun for short periods while her foster is home. Occasionally, she visits the neighbor and their dog. Ghetti gets along well with other dogs but is not the romping type. She prefers exploring the yard or sitting politely in a lap, supervising. Walks happen between 4 and 5 p.m., followed by dinner and an evening full of couch cuddles. At night, she sleeps in her fuzzy bed in the bedroom. She is not crate trained and honestly seems confused by the very idea of it. When Ghetti first arrived, she was reserved but immediately cuddly, sticking close and following her foster around. Within a week, she mastered the doggy door and learned to take herself out to potty. Now, she is confident, relaxed, and incredibly well behaved. She is a true companion dog. She walks beautifully on leash with no pulling, no barking, no chasing squirrels, and no dramatic reactions to other dogs. She will even sit quietly at your side if you stop to chat with someone during a walk. She is friendly with dogs, gentle with toddlers, and has shown calm curiosity toward cats without any chase instinct. Ghetti is very much a couch potato and cuddle bug. Toys do not really impress her, though she will humor them for a minute or two. She does enjoy chewing on a Nyla bone and is perfectly content doing so while lounging. She is house trained, uses a doggy door, rarely barks, and is overall an extremely easy dog to live with. Toward the end of her highlight reel, one small note. Ghetti can have some separation anxiety when left home alone and may bark in that situation. It is something she is working through and improves with routine and reassurance. She also has an appreciation for human food, but she takes redirection well and gives up quickly when told no. Honestly, for a dog named Spaghettios, her self control is impressive. To wrap this up the right way, Spaghettios is the definition of a perfect companion. She is calm, loving, patient, and incredibly sweet. She is the kind of dog you can take anywhere, the kind that makes people say “wow, she is so well behaved,” and the kind that will happily choose your lap over literally everything else. If you are looking for a low energy, high love, round little shadow to share your life and your couch with, Ghetti is ready to roll right into your heart. February 2, 2026, 11:50 am

Adoption fee: $750 Meet Chef Boyardee! 2 years old * 17 lbs * Pug   Straight from the shelter to the test kitchen, Chef Boyardee is serving up a full-course meal of fun, energy, and pure pug personality. At just about 2 years old and 17 pounds, this compact little chef is proof that big flavor really does come in small packages.   A Day in the Life of the Chef Chef starts his mornings between 7–8am and immediately insists on his signature opening act: a 30-minute walk to inspect the neighborhood and gather inspiration. Once back home, he enjoys breakfast right away before settling into his x-pen to relax and recharge. In the afternoon, he heads out for a shorter walk, followed by some mental enrichment— puzzle toys, Kongs, chew bones, or a little training session to sharpen his skills.   Around 6pm, Chef is back on duty for his longest walk of the day (30–40 minutes), then it’s time for dinner. Evenings are reserved for what he does best: dramatically emptying the entire toy bin and sampling every option before bedtime. He finishes his day with a short walk around 9:30pm and sleeps in his crate in the living room. He may protest briefly when crated, but he settles quickly and sleeps through the night like a professional.   Personality & Training Chef Boyardee is extremely playful and goofy! Squeaky toys are a personal favorite, and he loves a good chase— he’s surprisingly fast and can keep up with even speedy dogs. While he’s not much of a lap dog, he does enjoy staying close, just in case a ball might be thrown at any moment. When he first arrived, Chef was still learning the basics. Since then, he’s added sit, wait, leave it, and spin to his growing skill set. Training is ongoing, but he’s very food motivated and eager to learn with consistency and patience. His signature move? An adorable counterclockwise spin that comes out whenever he’s excited.   Social Life Chef loves other dogs and wants to play constantly. He’s still learning polite play skills and how to read when another dog isn’t in the mood, but he’s making steady progress. He hasn’t been around kids yet, but he adores all the humans he’s met on walks. He’s met a cat once and showed interest but also some uncertainty; he may be an option with cats if slow intros and initial separation is possible. He also rides beautifully in the car—quiet, calm, and ready for the next adventure.   Leash Skills On leash, he’s a work in progress. He pulls, barks at other dogs out of excitement, and lunges toward cars, so continued leash training will be important. He has learned “leave it” on walks (especially when treats are involved) and loves picking up interesting treasures like sticks, pinecones, and rocks along the way.   Home Life & Habits Chef is mostly housetrained and has had no accidents after initial few days in new environments. He is crate trained and settles after a brief whine. He does enjoy chewing and sometimes thinks fingers are toys, so redirection with appropriate chew toys is key. He may bark when new people come over, but once he knows them, he switches from barking to enthusiastic, jumpy greetings.   Why Chef Boyardee? Chef is joyful, goofy, and always ready for whatever comes next. He’s the kind of dog who brings constant motion, laughter, and positivity into your life. With his expressive pug face, happy-go-lucky attitude, and food-motivated brain, he’s a wonderful candidate for someone excited to continue training and channel his enthusiasm. If you’re looking for a dog who approaches life with tail wags, spins, and an unshakable zest for adventure, Chef Boyardee is ready to take your order.February 2, 2026, 11:50 am

Story
01/27/26 12:27 Queenie is a sweet 2 year old pit bull mix that was owner surrendered to the shelter on 9/23/ 26. She has been spayed, had a benign mass removed, known as a hamartoma and has been treated for skin and ear infections several times. Her skin infections have been doing well on a hypoallergenic diet but she continues to have repeat ear infections and will likley need ongoing cleanings +- allergy mediations. Due to her allergies, she has been a long length of stay dog. Needs urgent rescue.QUEENIE is a friendly, affectionate dog with lots of energy and a love for treats and fetch. She’s wiggly and happy, enjoys sniffing, and is easy to handle, including picking up toys or treats without any resource guarding. While generally well-mannered, she can pull on leash and get a little jumpy at times. She shows some stiffness when meeting dogs through a fence and has occasionally required kennel adjustments due to reactivity, but overall she’s social and loves attention, often asking for pets while playing. QUEENIE is at least lightly potty trained and thrives in a home where she can play, explore, and receive consistent handling.

Story
Meet Dumpling — our sweet, sun-loving goofball who runs entirely on solar power (and maybe just a little bit on snacks… okay, a lot on snacks!). This lovable girl adores people of all ages — adults, kids, and even the tiniest humans. She’s spent time with children as young as 6 and 8, soaking up their affection and happily joining in the fun. Dumpling is happiest when she’s out for a walk, basking in the sunshine, or curled up on a comfy bed dreaming about her next treat. She’s a certified food enthusiast — in her mind, every moment is the perfect time for a snack. While she’s not great with other dogs and has a strong prey drive toward small animals (dogs, cats, birds — anything littler than her), she’s a perfect only-pet companion. In return for your love, walks, and a steady supply of goodies, Dumpling will give you endless affection, big smiles, and the joy of sharing life with a true character.
