Story
Otis is a 4-5 year old, energetic, Rhodesian Ridgeback mix. He is very sweet, and loves his booty rubs. He’s been through 3 homes, and needs to find his forever one! He needs a big back yard, someone who will take him on all the walks, and all the patience you have to offer. He is good about going outside, he’s good with other animals, but he likes to get into whatever mischief he can. As long as he has plenty of chew toys, he’s good to go! I recently got a new and more time demanding job and just don’t have the time anymore, unfortunately.

Story
Ellie started out with us as a young pup. She was adopted out, only to be dumped at the shelter at another state. From what we have gathered from the shelter accompanied with our own experience with her, it's because she needs a home without other dogs. She is 35 lbs and otherwise friendly with all humans and hopes you accept her terms and conditions because she is sooooo worth it! Ellie was born in 2018 and is located at the rescue. If you are interested in adopting, please complete our Pre-application: https://form.jotform.us/asr628/ShortAdoptionInquiry

Story
Sweet Chewie was adopted as a puppy. As time passed, he started showing some guarding signs that made his owners nervous and they returned him. After a few days of being nervous at the facility he has warmed up and is doing amazing. He is four years old but he is an energetic guy and seems younger. Chewie is house trained, and we are working with leash walking and playing fetch. He has not shown guarding with any of the staff. We are still testing different situations to make sure we adopt him to the best family. We would recommend older kids. He has been very friendly with dogs and new people he's met but would need to be fed separately from other dogs. Chewie is located at the rescue facility in Justin, Texas. If you are interested in adopting, please complete our Pre-application: https://form.jotform.us/asr628/ShortAdoptionInquiry

Story
Hi! My name is Fezco. My owners dumped my friend Rue and I at a gas station in Justin, Texas after we had puppies. We were trying to make friends with all the people there, but no one stopped to pay attention. It was getting ready to storm and a nice lady from Apollo saw us and brought us to the rescue. The staff and volunteers say I am very loving and handsome. I am also very strong and sometimes forget it, but the staff has been teaching me how to be gentler. I love cuddles and walks. I would love an active family to go hiking with. My perfect home is one where I would get lots of exercise! Since I sometimes forget how strong I am I need a home with older kids, so I don't accidentally hurt them. I'm working on leash walking, but reports from the staff recently say I'm doing great! I love other dogs, but in a new environment I would need slow and proper introductions to new friends. I love my friend Rue and it'd be great if we were adopted together, but as long I'm getting lots of love and attention I'll do fine with a family of my own. Fezco is approximately 90lbs, born in 2020, and is located at the rescue center in Justin, Texas.Included with adoption: Age-appropriate vaccinations, up to date heart-worm preventative, heart-worm test if over 6 months, microchip with registration, and spayed or neutered- if not already, a voucher is provided. If you are interested in adopting, please complete our Pre-application: https://form.jotform.us/asr628/ShortAdoptionInquiry

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.***Ranger is on Medical Hold but we are accepting adoption applications***   Home, Home on the Range-r    Hi!  My name is Ranger. I know, I know!  I don’t look anything like a Boston Terrier. So what am I doing here?  I’m glad you asked! Here is my story…   I have no idea where my family is (if I have one) or how I ended up living with a bull. That’s right - I made a friend out in West Texas with a big black Angus bull. I was hanging out with him this afternoon when off in the distance I saw a lady and two kids riding their horses. Holy cow!!  Humans! I ran as fast as I could to them. This was my chance! I really needed food and water. Living on cow poop isn’t exactly the best nutrition, but desperate times call for desperate measures.     I was super lucky to have run into this lady and her kids because she volunteers with American Boston Terrier Rescue & Rehab. She saw me and could see how desperate I was for some help. She picked me up and asked me how I had ended up way out there, 10 miles from the nearest town. I just shrugged my shoulders, and she lifted me up onto the saddle with her. I rode a mile down the road back to their barn. How cool is that? My freedom ride was on a horse! Not every dog can say that.    This sweet lady called the rescue and sent them my handsome pictures. They saw how urgent my situation was and agreed to take me on even though I’m not a Boston. I got lucky twice today!     She rushed me to the vet where I saw a doctor. The doctor said I was a young buck of just 2-3 months and that I needed subcutaneous fluids. I had some weird bubbles under my skin, but the sweet lady says they won’t be there long because my body will use those fluids to make me feel better.     The sweet lady is feeding me small meals every couple of hours so that the food doesn’t upset my tummy since it hasn’t seen real food in so long. Her kids would love to feed me to my heart’s content because they love me so much, but I’m ok with taking it slow.   I am really smart!  I have learned to sit and am working on my crate training and recall command.  I am also a great dishwasher especially after you have loaded the dishes!  I have also found my coonhound howl.  I sing so beautifully!    I would love to find an active family.  If you are a bird hunter or live on a farm that would be an added bonus!    Love, RangerVisit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.May 29, 2023, 6:06 pm
