Story
Harleigh is being returned to our rescue for the THIRD time, this time after almost a year and a half. We traced her microchip when we first rescued her and found she'd been in atleast TWO homes prior to us.  She is a WONDERFUL GIRL, just needs a specific type of home for her own comfort.  Harleigh is 6.5 years old and weighs 70lbs.  She is friendly with other animals BUT she does NOT like SHARING A HOME (or her humans) with other pets. She needs to be an ONLY PET.   She would play with multuple other dogs in boarding with no issues, but she did become jealous and growl if she was getting attention and another dog came trying to get in on her time.  Kids. She is kid friendly BUT kids being kids, running around, loud etc... makes her uncomfortable and she wants far away SO bigger or calm children if any are best. Just for her own comfort and sanity.  She's not an old girl by any means, but she much prefers the "retirement home type" living situation.   Harleigh is very chill and extremely loving and well behaved. She doesn't require long walks or anything crazy. She would much rather be at home napping with her humans close by than out playing ball or running a marathon.  She literally just wants a quiet home, a soft bed and a human or two to love.... it can't be that hard to find.... surely someone knows someone, or has parents, or even grandparents who could use a companion with four paws and a huge heart to love! ##981112##

Glory is a male Rhodesian Ridgeback mix.  He weighs 55 to 60 lbs and is about 2 years old.  His owenr moved and left him alone in a rental property.  The owner of the property loves animals and didn't want to take him to the shelter so we need to find Glory a forever home.  He is super friendly and loves everyone..  He is housebroken and crate trained and very eager to please. He is very sweet and laid back. He is good with children as well. He is the only dog but wags his tail when he sees dogs and he is submissive.   He has no known health issues. Story
Meet Remington - this 3 year old Rhodesian Ridgeback mix is up to date on shots, neutered, and heartworm negative.  Remington has not had a great start to life and will need a family that will be patient with him and let him know that he is safe.  Remington would do best in a home with adults or older children.  Remington has been staying at a board and train in Houston and knows his basic commands and does well on a leash. Remington loves to play ball - it's his favorite thing!  Remington does have anxiety about the vet and will need reassurance from his people during those visits. Remington is still at the board and train in Houston and an in-person meeting at the facility prior to adoption is a must. Remington would do best in a home with no other pets as he is dog selective and has a high prey drive. If Remington has a local adopter - the facility is willing to continue training education with his new family in order to ensure success! If Remington sounds like the guy for you , please contact us to schedule a meeting. ##1314707##

Story
Otis is a 4-5 year old, energetic, Rhodesian Ridgeback mix. He is very sweet, and loves his booty rubs. He’s been through 3 homes, and needs to find his forever one! He needs a big back yard, someone who will take him on all the walks, and all the patience you have to offer. He is good about going outside, he’s good with other animals, but he likes to get into whatever mischief he can. As long as he has plenty of chew toys, he’s good to go! I recently got a new and more time demanding job and just don’t have the time anymore, unfortunately.

Story
Meet Dak! He is a fun loving one year old Rhodesian Ridgeback puppy. Yes, at one year of age he is approximately 90 lbs (and still growing!) but all sweet puppy at heart. He loves to run and play, including wrestling with other dog friends of similar size and energy. As a puppy, he needs a regular chance to stretch his legs and get his wiggles out but he is also very good in a crate and loves snuggle time with his humans too. Because he is young and doesn't really know his size he will do best in a home with older or no kids. He'd love to have a canine buddy to play with but doesn't require it if his family is happy to provide exercise and stimulation. Ridgebacks are handsome hunting sight and scent hounds, specially bred to hunt lions in Africa. True to his breed, Dak is smart, fast, strong and will do best with a prepared handler. To help with that, his adopter will also receive several free training sessions with him and his trainer before Dak goes to his new home. Please note, Dak is not yet neutered as his vet recommended (while he finishes growing) but a commitment to neuter is required and the cost will be covered by his adoption fee. If you feel your home might be the right place for this wonderful dog, the place to start is with the adoption application found at www.dfwrescueme.org/adopt.  Once submitted, the foster will contact you to tell you more, and to arrange a meeting! The adoption fee for all of our dogs is $250.00, which includes their vaccinations and spay/neuter. Dak is participating in the DFW Rescue Me Guest Dog Program, so custody and ongoing care are provided by the foster, not by DFWRM.March 23, 2024, 6:50 pm

Story
Meet Callie! Callie is a four year old Rhodesian Ridgeback mix. She is super loyal and loving to her people. She loves to hang out inside with her people, but enjoys rolling around in the yard and sunning herself on a pretty day. When her mommy and daddy had a baby, she was a little stressed out by all the chaos and they knew she would be happier in a home where she did not have babies crying or toddlers invading her space, so she is looking for her forever home. She is currently staying with her grandparents while waiting for a forever family. She is up to date with vaccines, spayed, and has an appointment to be microchipped soon. She weighs 100 lbs and is working on taking off some of that weight with daily exercise and weight management food. She would love to accompany you on your own wellness journey if you too are looking for daily exercise!

Callie LOVES her adult people. She will sit at your feet and hang out with you for hours. When she gets spurts of energy, she invites you to play and will go get toys and sticks you throw for her. She is not a big fan of giving them back to you, but loves the chase. She thrives when she gets her daily walk and would be your best friend if you took her on a neighborhood walk each day. She is super friendly to people and pets out in the neighborhood, but needs to make your acquaintance before you come into her space. Her first family had babies and dogs, and she prefers life as the diva, free of children or other pets in the house.

Callie is potty trained, and sleeps in her crate. She is the best at walking on a leash and aced her obedience training. She is super smart and learns quickly. She is the type of pup who will take some time to warm up to you, but will be very loyal to her new family. She will thrive in an adult only household where she can be queen!

Callie is so smart and loyal. Apply to adopt Callie today!

Story
Hi, my name is Laredo and I am 3 yrs old! I am a big lap dog and love to be right with my person. My life before rescue was not the best, so I was a bit afraid of new people and dogs when I came to Habitat 4 Paws. My fosters saw what a good dog I could be with a little reassurance and Habitat 4 Paws set me up with a great trainer! I am finishing up a month long training and doing great. Everyone says I am super smart and an excellent direction follower. I have learned some good commands, worked on my socialization skills, and am becoming a very confident and happy dog! Now it's time to find my forever family! I think I would like an active family best, to play with, go on walks, and spend lots of time together. I'm good with kids, too! Although I love being the center of your doggie attention, I would be fine sharing the spotlight with another calmer dog. And bonus..... I am crate and potty trained too! If you'd like to meet me, email my people at Habitat 4 Paws. I am patiently waiting!! Email info@habitat4paws.org for an application. **Because we require home visits, we only adopt locally to the Dallas/Fort Worth area. For more on adoption policies, please see the How it Works page of our website, www.habitat4paws.org.**

We assist dogs in distress without regard to age, breed or ease of placement. Dogs in the greatest need take priority. Finally, we strive to work with shelters and other rescue and humane organizations to develop a network of supporters and volunteers in order to create a better world for homeless dogs. ##950302##
