Sweet, handsome, fun-loving Blake is 2 years old and weighs 50 lbs. We think he is a Rhodesian Ridgeback/Black Mouth Cur mix. He is affectionate and loves to give kisses and cuddle with his people. He is friendly with every person he meets, but he can be a little picky about his dog friends. Blake is an excellent choice for someone wanting an only dog, but we think he would be ok in a home with smaller dogs. He loves to play fetch, and any old ball will do, but he hasn't quite mastered the part of bringing the ball back! Blake is very athletic and needs his daily exercise. He loves taking long walks. He is crate and potty trained. He won't be a good fit for apartment life. Blake will be a super loyal and loving companion. Meet Max! He is a 1 yr old neutered male German Pinscher/Doberman Pinscher that weighs 66lbs. He came into the Mesquite Animal Shelter on 10/14 as an owner surrender. Reason given was he had too many animals, and Max was a big pup. He has been very well cared for, clean soft fur, and may be housetrained. He is an extremely handsome boy, and always has a smile on his face. Despite being left at the shelter, he has an upbeat, happy go lucky personality. And such a silly playful side too. He found a stuffed toy and he threw it up in the air and bounced around the shelter yard. He walks well on a leash and takes treats gently. On occasion he does get excited and will try to jump, yet he can be quickly redirected with the sit command. Very smart pup! He hopes he can find a loving family with a secured yard, take him for walks and enrichment, shower him with plenty of stuffed toys and be close and cuddly with his human companions inside on his own dog bed. Tho he had no reaction to other dogs barking at him, we do ask if there is another dog in the home please ask the shelter for a dog test. Come meet this wonderful boy!!

She was found as a stray with injuries to her legs and feet, but thanks to a wonderful foster family, she healed both physically and emotionally. During her time in foster care, she proved to be incredibly affectionate—she loves people, enjoys snuggles, and plays wonderfully with children.Now living at our facility, Summer continues to work on her manners. She’s doing great with her leash training, is learning not to jump when excited, and already knows commands like `sit` and `no.` She’s eager to please and very smart, which makes her a great candidate for continued training in a patient and loving home.Summer loves doing zoomies in the yard and spending time outdoors. She’s made some doggy friends here with slow, proper introductions, and would thrive in a home that can continue supporting her socialization.This sweet girl is ready to leave her past behind and start a new chapter with a family who will give her the love, structure, and security she deserves. Volt is being fostered in NC. Volt has some vision. update Volt is doing well! He lives for cuddles at night before going to bed in his crate. During the day he has one speed and that is lightning fast. His favorite treat is carrots and he will do anything for them but lay down, lol. He has a pretty good recall and knows sit. He is fully potty trained and goes to the back door when he needs to go out. He plays so gently with his foster mom's mini aussies and rough and tumble with Elektra (corso) and Trigger (lab). Volt had some grand mal seizures that were caused by Simparica Trio. These lasted about 3 weeks with lingering focal seizures. He is still on keppra and he's doing great! He has not had any seizures in the last 3 months. BDRA has voted against the use of electrical fencing effective immediately
