09/27/24 02:58Doggy Day Out ReportToday I: Today I went on my first Dog Day Out adventure and met a new friend! Getting started I was nervous and had to be helped into the car, but once I got in I lied down until we got to the park. It was awesome! We went on a long walk where I was able to sniff all the good smells and take in the wonderful morning. I led the walk the entire time but when we took breaks I sat in my friend’s lap where I also got lots of pets and treats. We passed by a lot of people and other dogs but I tried to stay focused but was a little nervous when something would come from behind me, but my friend was there to help when I needed it. After the walk we got to take a long break and I got to relax and get more pets and treats. It was a great day!Three Words to Describe Me are: Affectionate, Eager, LivelyNotes from My Walker: Thunder is a handsome boy with a lot of love and energy to give. He was extremely shy when I was getting his harness on him and was not treat motivated at that time. When it came time to get in the car, he wasn`t very interested and pulled back but I was able to pick him up, which he allowed, and placed him in the car. Once he was in the car he laid down and was very calm. Thunder does like to navigate and will often put his head on your shoulder as if he is whispering you the directions. Thunder does have some leash reactivity and it only happened when something came up from behind us, like a runner or biker, so you have to be aware of your surroundings so he knows you are in control and can help him refocus. He led the whole walk with a strong pulling nature on the leash but when we stopped he was in my lap giving lots of love. He didn`t have any reactivity with other dogs, while there was interest in going to play, there was no aggression or fear with other dogs around. Thunder will be great for an active family who has the patience to train.

07/14/24 11:27Reason animal needs rescue: Large dog that takes time to warm up to people. Type: BehaviorDate animal needs rescue by: ASAPImpound type: StrayAdditional notes: Some dog reactivity. Would do better in a calmer environment with an experienced handler.07/09/24 16:09Dog was out with a volunteer and sat when I was speaking with the volunteer. Inside the yard he is reactive when there are other dogs in the other yard but when alone is affiliative (Leans in for pets and seeks attention). When alone able to do basic petting, have not tried to restriain. Inside kennel he leans against wall and allows pets through kennel. 06/16/24 18:17approaches kennel door, sits when asked. No issues placing leash.Pulls hard while on leash. Some reactivity while in play yard.Able to do body handling with no issues. Dog was soft and wiggly, even laid on his back and exposed abdomen to me. Knows sit, down and shake.06/12/24 14:22Same behavior as before, used treats to distract him when other animals walk by and somewhat worked but continued to display same body posture as before. Very strong. 06/05/24 11:35Front of kennel, jumping on to kennel door, barking, seeking attention, licks hand through door. Able to leash and take out, able to do handling after he warms up to handler. GO slow. (Lunges, stiff, eyes dialted, when seeing other dogs behind fence.)04/24/24 15:31I have been working with `poppa` for about 2 weeks now and he has been pretty good with me. He allows me to provide full handling, bear hug, paw touching, head touching with no complications. His D2D is a little concerning, he seem interested but also very vocal which seems abrasive in my opinion. I have been taking him out to the yard while PG is in session to help him slowly adapt to other dogs. Will provide more notes soon.Slightly Dog reactive.
