Story
Meet Orso – Mr. Easy Peasy, He is a big-hearted, low-maintenance cuddle buddy looking for a low-key, chill home. 📍 Stats at a Glance: ✔️ Age: ~6 years old ✔️ Breed Mix: Rottie/Staffie/Pittie/Boxer blend ✔️ Size: 105 lbs ✔️ Energy Level: Low – a couple of zoomies or a short stroll, and he’s done for the day ✔️ House Training: A+ – totally reliable ✔️ Personality: Friendly and affectionate ✔️ Health: Neutered, up to date on vaccines, and microchipped Orso’s journey hasn’t been easy—he found himself surrendered to the shelter on Christmas Day. While we don’t know his full past, he appears to have been loved (a little too much in the food department) - he came in obese and limping but PACC has taken care of both of those issues. He’s a gentle, loving soul who craves companionship, leans in for affection, and thrives on belly rubs. 💛 The Ideal Home for Oscar: 🏡 A calm, relaxed household looking for a teddy-bear to brighten the mood and lift your spirits 🐕 Orso is unpredicatable with dogs hence he needs to be the one and only center of attention 🐱 No cats—we’re unsure of his history with our feline friends and want to be respectful of everyone's time 🚸 Kids 10+ — because kids take time, dogs take time and families with little ones rarely have time for both Orso is one of the easiest dogs we've come across, in the right setting. His needs are clear and simple - a house with a fenced in back yard, and the occasional short sniff walk. He loves company but has zero separation anxiety and no destruction. Impeccable house manners. A retired couple who like to hang out at home and would love some company would be ideal. He's a simple guy, with simple needs!

Story
02/11/26 13:48Meet Truck, our handsome young powerhouse with a big heart and an even bigger personality! At just a year old, this sturdy Rottweiler is still learning the ropes of the world and looking for a savvy adopter who can help him channel his energy in the right direction.Truck loves to explore — his idea of a good time is going for a walk where he can sniff every tree and blade of grass along the way. He’s not overly into toys, but you’ll see his curiosity shine when he’s following an interesting scent.Truck is easy to leash up and handle in and out of his kennel, and he’s always ready for adventure. However, he’s very strong on leash and tends to pull hard, especially when he spots other dogs or small animals. In the shelter environment Truck has been obsered displaying some reactivity with other dogs as well and can get a bit too focused on them - so for now, he’d do best as the only pet in the home, with no small dogs or cats. When excited, Truck can get mouthy or jumpy — typical teenage Rottie behavior! He’ll thrive with an experienced owner who understands large breeds and can provide structure, continued training, and plenty of exercise.Truck has so much potential to grow into a loyal, loving companion for someone patient and dedicated. If you love a strong, spirited dog and are ready to help him become his best self, Truck might just be your perfect co-pilot!Truck needs a patient and understanding adopter to help manage this behavior and grow his sociability!! Despite this observed reactivity in the shelter environment, he is still a loving dog who just needs an adopter to match and manage his energy! If you believe you could manage this behavior or just think he has a cute face, PLEASE come meet Truck today!!01/23/26 14:45On Needs Rescue for dog reactivity being displayed in shelter environment.1/16/26Truck is a strong, energetic dog with a lot of personality and enthusiasm! He responds best to experienced handlers who can help him manage his excitement. He can be mouthy and reactive when overaroused, so meeting him before adoption—especially if you have other pets—is highly recommended. With guidance and structure, he has the potential to be a fun, engaging companion for the right home.

Story
ADOPT RAMONA (a.k.a. Mona • Moni • Momo) Ramona is an approximately 8-year-old 75lb Shepherd/Cattle Dog mix who almost lost her life at the Kern County Animal Shelter…simply for being older, overweight and overlooked No one was coming for her. But thanks to some amazing volunteers getting her out for Doggy Day Out adventures, her personality finally got a chance to shine and we instantly fell in love with this short, chunky, happy little girl She may not be your typical bully breed…but at this point she’s basically an honorary bully :joy: Ramona is the definition of easy, sweet, and just happy to be here. She has the cutest frosty face and does these tiny toe-tap hops when she’s excited (especially for food or attention) and it’s honestly impossible not to smile watching her. She’s: House trained & potty trained Crate trained (but would much rather be on a cozy bed or couch Great with respectful dogs (medium to XL) Low-key, easygoing, and just wants to be loved Ramona isn’t asking for much…just a forever home that will give her good food and to love her for the rest of her life. After everything she’s been through, she deserves that and more. She’s currently fostered in Oakdale, CA and ready to find her forever home :feet: If you’re looking for a sweet, soulful, no-drama companion…Ramona is your girl

Story
Jonesy is young adult, 84-pound Rottweiler mix. Jonesy is a medium energy guy who knows how to enjoy the slower things in life, but also enjoys long waks. Jonesy is a pleasure to walk on leash. He loves to use his nose and goes on regular sniffaris. Jonesy is extremely food motivated and has proven himself a good candidate for further training. He will need an experienced home committed to further training. Jonesy would do best in an adult-only home. Ideally the person who adopts Jonesy would have experience with Rottweilers or done some research into the breed. Jonesy is comfortable around other dogs with the right match, but would be equally happy as a cherished solo companion.

Our adoption fees vary. Each biography will specifically list the adoption fee.Adoption fee: $650     Meet Bumper Car — Your Future Best Friend   Bumper Car is a 3 month old Boxer/German Shepherd mix, currently around 20 lbs. and growing into a strong, handsome pup. He’s part of the “Fair” litter and was raised in a home with kids before coming into rescue, so he’s already comfortable around people and everyday life. He’s proving to be exactly what you hope for in a puppy — affectionate, social, and full of personality.     Personality: Happy, Loving, and Always Nearby   Bumper Car is a classic love-bug puppy. He naturally gravitates toward his people and wants to be part of whatever is going on — whether that’s playtime, hanging out, or just following you from room to room.   He’s got a sweet, easygoing demeanor and a playful side to match. He loves attention, enjoys being held, and settles in nicely for cuddles after he’s gotten his energy out.     Social & Play Style   One of the best things about Bumper Car is how well he does with other dogs. He’s currently living with dogs ranging from about 30 to 100 pounds and fits right in with all of them.   He’s playful without being overwhelming and reads other dogs well. He enjoys running around, engaging in play, and then moving on when it’s time to settle down.   He’s also not excessively barky, which makes him an easy addition to a home environment.     Training & Daily Life   For a young puppy, Bumper Car is already picking things up quickly:   Dog door: knows how to use it Potty training: off to a strong start with routine Food motivated: yes — which helps with training Crate training: still learning, but improving He’s a smart pup who will benefit from consistency and structure, but he’s already showing great instincts.     Energy Level   Bumper Car has that ideal puppy balance. He’s energetic and fun when it’s time to play, but he’s not nonstop chaos. After some activity, he’s more than happy to relax and hang out.   He can keep up with an active household but also knows how to settle, which is a great trait as he grows.     Why Bumper Car Stands Out   Bumper Car is the total package:   Great with dogs of all sizes Loves people and attention Affectionate and cuddly Not overly vocal Already showing strong house habits Happy, adaptable personality He’s had a strong start being raised in a home, and it shows in how comfortable and well-adjusted he is.     The Bottom Line   Bumper Car is the kind of puppy that makes life better — easy to love, easy to have around, and full of potential.   If you’re looking for a friendly, well-rounded puppy who will grow into a loyal companion, Bumper Car is a perfect fit.April 22, 2026, 7:38 pm

Our adoption fees vary. Each biography will specifically list the adoption fee.Adoption fee: $650 Meet Filibuster (Fili) — The Smart, Playful Sidekick with a Big Heart and Even Bigger Personality   Filibuster — affectionately known as Fili — is a 4 year old, 22-pound Mini Bernedoodle who is equal parts brains, charm, and playful energy. This handsome, hypoallergenic guy came to DPS through a loving owner surrender when his family welcomed a new baby and realized the changing household dynamic wasn’t the right long-term fit for him. They adored Fili and invested heavily in training, and they entrusted DPS to find him a home where he can truly thrive.   Their loss is someone else’s incredible opportunity — because Fili is a well-trained, engaging companion who brings a whole lot of joy wherever he goes.   Fili’s Daily Routine   Fili is a creature of habit who thrives on structure and predictability — and he handles alone time like a pro.   His day starts around 7:00 AM with a 20–30 minute walk, where he quickly takes care of business and enjoys stretching his legs. Afterward, he happily eats breakfast and takes his daily medication (Fluoxetine) — no fuss required, especially when it’s hidden in a little treat dust.   By about 7:45 AM, he settles back into his crate, where he relaxes calmly until mid-afternoon. He sleeps soundly overnight in his crate and rarely barks or whines — a dream roommate!   When his people return home around 3:00 PM, Fili greets them with pure joy. He’ll pop up onto his hind legs and wrap his front paws into a snuggly hug that melts hearts every time. The late afternoon is filled with playtime, companionship, and cuddles before his second 20–30 minute evening walk and dinner.   After that, he’s content to hang out with the family for the evening, followed by a quick 10-minute potty break around 9:00 PM before heading back to his crate for a peaceful night’s sleep.   Personality — Playful, Loyal, and Lovably Quirky   His foster family has been pleasantly surprised by how manageable and enjoyable he has been — in fact, they describe him as the easiest foster they’ve had so far.   Fili is playful, energetic, and affectionate, but not clingy. He enjoys being near his people and will often lounge beside you on the couch, usually leaving just a few inches of personal space — his version of polite companionship. You can scoop him up for a quick cuddle, but he’s happiest relaxing next to you rather than on top of you.   He may occasionally follow you from room to room, but he also settles nicely when asked to stay in a common area. And when you come home? Get ready for the most adorable greeting — a happy bounce onto his hind legs and a full-body snuggle that makes every return feel like a celebration.   Energy & Activity Level   Fili is definitely an active, playful dog, but he has a wonderful off-switch. As long as he gets his two solid 30+ minute walks each day, he transforms into a relaxed couch companion who’s perfectly content to hang out with his people.   He enjoys toys, playtime, and interactive fun — but he also knows how to settle and relax once his exercise needs are met.   Walking & Training   Fili has clearly benefited from excellent training and knows an impressive list of commands, including:   -Sit -Lay down -Heel -Off -Roll over -High five -Jump up -Paw   He walks nicely on leash with only mild pulling — usually when heading home. He can be startled by barking dogs behind fences and may pause until reassured with a treat, but he responds well to guidance and keeps moving once he feels confident.   At outdoor cafés or busy environments, he may bark at unfamiliar people or dogs if he thinks his humans haven’t noticed them. It's important to keep him close to you when this happens. When he knows his people are aware of the situation, he typically relaxes. Continued positive reinforcement and confidence-building will help him keep improving.   House Manners   Fili is a polite and well-mannered housemate:   -Fully housetrained -Fully crate trained -Sleeps quietly through the night -Rarely digs -Generally calm indoors   Like many dogs, he may occasionally swipe a shoe or towel and carry it off to his bed — more mischievous than destructive — and he might bark if someone knocks loudly at the door. Overall, he’s a very manageable dog who simply benefits from routine and gentle reminders.   Ideal Home   Fili would thrive in a home that:   -Can provide two solid daily walks -Has a yard for playtime (helpful but not strictly required) -Is willing to continue his training and confidence-building -Appreciates an active but well-behaved companion -Has prior experience with active dogs with some reactivity   He does very well staying in his crate during the workday, so a home where people are gone for typical work hours can still be a great fit.   Because his previous home change was related to the stress of living with a very young child, a household with older children or adults would likely be the best match for his comfort and long-term success.   What Makes Fili Special   Fili is the total package:   -Hypoallergenic coat -Smart and highly trainable -Playful and affectionate -Well-mannered at home -Confident with routine -Full of personality and charm   Most of all, he’s a joyful, engaging companion who forms strong bonds with his people. His foster family describes him as a “hoot” — a happy, fun dog who loves toys, gives sweet kisses, and brings laughter to everyday life. They know they’ll miss him dearly when he finds his forever home.   If you’re looking for a loyal sidekick who will walk by your side, make you laugh, and greet you like you’re the best part of his day, Filibuster just might be your perfect match.April 22, 2026, 7:38 pm
