Story
Meet Orso – Mr. Easy Peasy, He is a big-hearted, low-maintenance cuddle buddy looking for a low-key, chill home. 📍 Stats at a Glance: ✔️ Age: ~6 years old ✔️ Breed Mix: Rottie/Staffie/Pittie/Boxer blend ✔️ Size: 105 lbs ✔️ Energy Level: Low – a couple of zoomies or a short stroll, and he’s done for the day ✔️ House Training: A+ – totally reliable ✔️ Personality: Friendly and affectionate ✔️ Health: Neutered, up to date on vaccines, and microchipped Orso’s journey hasn’t been easy—he found himself surrendered to the shelter on Christmas Day. While we don’t know his full past, he appears to have been loved (a little too much in the food department) - he came in obese and limping but PACC has taken care of both of those issues. He’s a gentle, loving soul who craves companionship, leans in for affection, and thrives on belly rubs. 💛 The Ideal Home for Oscar: 🏡 A calm, relaxed household looking for a teddy-bear to brighten the mood and lift your spirits 🐕 Orso is unpredicatable with dogs hence he needs to be the one and only center of attention 🐱 No cats—we’re unsure of his history with our feline friends and want to be respectful of everyone's time 🚸 Kids 10+ — because kids take time, dogs take time and families with little ones rarely have time for both Orso is one of the easiest dogs we've come across, in the right setting. His needs are clear and simple - a house with a fenced in back yard, and the occasional short sniff walk. He loves company but has zero separation anxiety and no destruction. Impeccable house manners. A retired couple who like to hang out at home and would love some company would be ideal. He's a simple guy, with simple needs!

Story
Waldo was found as a stray in November 4 and was scheduled to be euthanized on December 2 despite being the friendliest cuddliest little meatball you will ever meet. My wife and I pulled him off the kill list so that he could have another shot at life and he is already becoming a wonderful part of our dog pack. We would keep him but we already have three dogs and don't have space for another. Waldo is about two years old neutered potty trained and absolutely LOVES playing with other dogs–he's as wiggly and happy as they come. He imprints quickly on people and becomes an instant lover–every time my wife and I sit down on our couch or lie down in our bed he comes up to cuddle with us / sleep next to us. He is just starting to learn his name–he comes when called in the house but he hasn't been off leash in the park and we are just beginning recall and obedience training. He is very submissive and responds well to corrections from other dogs and has already learned to walk in our pack. He is very treat motivated and already knows sit as well as paw! Waldo still has the playful friendliness and eager-to-please demeanor of a puppy so having an adopter who will help continue to socialize and train him will be key! We are helping Waldo's current guardian to rehome him. Please fill out our online application and we will forward to them. Adoption fee would be minimum $100 donation to Furry Friends Rescue. If you have specific questions please send them through and we will put you in touch with his current guardian.December 4, 2025, 12:50 pm

Story
Hi there, my name is Octavia, a spayed female, 2 year old, Rottweiler/Staffie mix that currently weighs about 80lbs. I'm an affectionate young lady that loves to love. I love belly rubs and going on walks! I'm an excellent kisser and cuddler too! I do my very best not to jump up on people to say hello but sometimes I forget then I remember again, and it ends up being more of a bunny hop. I'm a really smart girl that already knows 'watch me', 'sit', 'down' and of course the best game known to dog kind... Fetch! I really love being around people, I have been called a lovebug, and would be a wonderful constant companion for anyone looking for an affectionate but very energetic new friend. Let's go on adventurous hikes and explore the great, wide world together! I sometimes get overwhelmed since I'm still getting used new things, but with your gentle guidance, I can overcome anything! I can't wait to meet the whole household including any resident dogs before going home. For more information, just ask Customer Service about Octavia ID# A953428 I recently went on a fieldtrip with one of my PHS Volunteer friends! Here's how I did: Octavia went on a two-hour off-site walk that began with a relaxed loop around Washington Park and continued with a stroll along Burlingame Avenue. She greeted me with happy head rubs against my legs and plenty of wiggles. We walked to my car, where she jumped right into the front passenger seat. She remained calm and seemed to genuinely enjoy looking out at the passing scenery during the drive. At the Burlingame Community Center, we parked in the underground garage and took the elevator together—Octavia was curious but not at all nervous during the ride. Once at Washington Park, Octavia immediately rolled in the grass, clearly having a great time. Along the way, she encountered other dogs; although she pulled toward them, she redirected easily and kept walking when asked. A loud street sweeper passed by with its backup alarm blaring, but Octavia was unfazed. She showed interest in the sound of pickleballs being hit on the nearby courts, pausing to observe. We stopped at the Burlingame train station and watched two trains arrive and depart. The clanging of the crossing signals, train horns, and the trains themselves didn’t bother her at all. Continuing down Burlingame Avenue, Octavia walked nicely past pedestrians, strollers, small children, and more dogs, maintaining good manners throughout. At the intersection of El Camino Real, we turned around and made our way back through the park. On the return walk, Octavia demonstrated excellent composure, passing the bocce ball courts, children playing on the playground, a basketball game, and a riding lawn mower, all without any signs of reactivity. She descended the stairs to the parking garage with no hesitation and was calm during the drive back.  Octavia handled every part of this busy outing with curiosity, resilience, and great behavior.  Unless otherwise indicated, adoptable animals are located at our Lantos Center for Compassion at 1450 Rollins Road, Burlingame, CA 94010.  You may call us at 650-340-7022 to schedule an appointment, or just drop by. Story
🥭 Mango – The Rottie Queen of Love, Belly Rubs & Second Chances! 🐾👑 At 5 years old and 86 glorious pounds, Mango is basically a weighted blanket with paws—calming, cozy, and impossible not to fall in love with. Rescued from the Visalia Shelter, this girl has a past she’s not talking about, but let’s just say… she’s earned her crown as the Queen of Gentle Hearts. If you raise your hand too fast, Mango might hit the ground and roll belly-up—not for drama, but because somewhere along the way, love wasn’t always what she got. Now? All she wants is to soak up every ounce of kindness she can find (preferably while laying upside down). ✨ What makes Mango extra mango-licious: Professional-level snuggler with built-in heater functionality Gives the kind of soulful stares that make you question everything else in life Zero chaos, 100% chill—perfect for couch dates and slow morning walks Knows how to take up space and your heart A lover, not a barker—unless you’re late with dinner, in which case, fair game Mango is not here for drama. She’s here for love, snacks, belly rubs, and maybe a soft couch with her name on it. She’s a survivor, a softie, and a total sweetheart who’s ready for her happily-ever-after. Ready to give this queen the life she’s always deserved? Come meet Mango. Warning: You will fall in love. 🐶💕

Story
Meet Hazel — the adorable little plot twist life keeps sending back our way. This is her third cameo in our care over the last two years, and honestly… she deserves a season finale with a happy ending already. Her journey? • Round 1: Arrived injured, got adopted. • Round 2: Went on a mini adventure, got loose, owner came back. • Round 3: Her most recent owner — a homeless man who truly adored her — has been hospitalized and can’t care for her anymore. Through it all, Hazel has stayed sweet, steady, and full of heart. Now she’s running out of time, and we’re hoping someone sees just how special she is. Hazel is leash-up-and-go perfection. No jumping, no mouthing, no “notice me!!” chaos — just a polite, gentle girl who loves her walkies and enjoys a good sniff around the yard at her own pace. In playgroups, she’s a total gem. She vibes beautifully with gentle, playful male and female dogs and would shine brightest in a semi-active home that gives her a nice mix of fun and chill. Hazel’s story has had enough plot twists. Let’s give her the stable, loving chapter she’s been waiting for. 💛🏡

Our adoption fees vary. Each biography will specifically list the adoption fee.Adoption fee: $750 Meet Notorious RBG — better known as Ruthie — a 14-week-old Boxer pup with the heart of a hero and the snuggle skills of a seasoned pro.   Rescued from the shelter a month ago in very poor condition, Ruthie arrived malnourished and unsure of the world. With time, care, and love, she has healed beautifully in foster and revealed herself to be an absolute delight. She started out at 18 lbs and is already pushing 30!   A Love Bug Through and Through   Ruthie loves everyone, but she forms extra-strong bonds with “her people.” She is already perfecting the art of being an oversized lap dog and gives world-class hugs. She’s a full-body leaner, a snuggler of the highest order, and a dog who truly believes that being close to you is the best place on earth.   She’s also a huge fan of sunshine, warm spots, and heated blankets. Rain, cold mornings, and being asked to pee in unpleasant weather? She will make her objections very clear. She is deeply committed to staying warm and cozy.   Playful, Goofy, and Endlessly Entertaining   Ruthie is a toy enthusiast who loves fetch and will happily entertain herself by tossing toys around. She also uses the couch as her personal booty-scratching post — a skill she demonstrates daily.   When she’s feeling extra energized, she may throw in some sharp little puppy nibbles to get your attention, but she redirects beautifully to her toys. She is actually quite good at playing independently and will zoom, pounce, and chew her way through her toy pile with enthusiasm.   Crate Comfort & Company   Ruthie sleeps in a super-cozy crate right next to her foster’s bed. Comfort is very important to her. She’s fantastic in the crate when someone is nearby. She’s improving with solo crating but still tends to bark and cry when left alone; she’s getting the hang of it slowly.   Potty Training Progress   Ruthie has come so far. When she first arrived, she only wanted to pee inside or on concrete. That first week was tough. But she has worked incredibly hard and is now doing so much better. She still has occasional accidents, but she’s learning quickly. She likes to use the same spot in the yard (as long as it’s kept clean), which will make teaching her a new potty area in her adoptive home very easy.   Her Daily Routine   6:30–7:00 am: Ruthie wakes up, stretches, and does her morning puppy yoga routine. She absolutely takes her time — she is reluctant to leave a warm bed and must be bribed outside every morning. Once she pees, she races back inside and climbs into bed with her foster for another hour or two of snuggles. She is the perfect lazy sleeping-in companion.   8:30-ish: Second potty break. Then it’s PLAY TIME.   Morning: After her nap and snuggles, she’s ready to go. Ruthie does zoomies, plays fetch, tosses her toys, and entertains herself for about an hour. She mixes bursts of play with lounging and chewing on toys. She’s equally happy playing alone or interacting with her people. She would love a dog friend but does well solo too.   Daytime: She alternates between naps, chewing toys, hanging out while her humans work, and short play sessions. She loves being near her people and enjoys having a steady rhythm to her day.   5:00 pm: Dinner.   Evening: More playtime, toy adventures, and cuddles.   10:30 pm: Bedtime in her cozy crate.   Out and About   Ruthie has been on many stroller adventures (until she outgrew it!). She’s visited the farmers market, an art fair, and a thrift store. She loves being out in the world and exploring new places. She’s met many new dogs, adults, and children and genuinely liked everyone. She may give a brief moment of pretend shyness, but it fades in under a minute.   Who She Is at Heart   Ruthie is resilient, loving, hilarious, affectionate, stubborn in the cutest ways, and endlessly endearing. She’s a sunshine-seeking, blanket-burrowing snuggle buddy who brings joy wherever she goes. She’s ready for a family who will continue her training, appreciate her big personality, and give her all the comfort she craves.December 4, 2025, 11:19 am
