This senior guy has a story to tell. Kodi was literally dumped out of a car at night on I 95. The fact that he is alive is a miracle in itself if you've ever driven that thruway. He ran off but after multiple attempts over the next couple of days was able to be caught. We were asked to help him which of course we did. Kodi was clearly neglected in his previous home. He tested positive for 2 tick borne diseases which have been treated and for heartworm disease for which he likewise finished the treatment. It's all behind him now! ​Due to Kodi's past he needs slower introductions to new people. Kodi LOVES food so that is a big help when introducing him to strangers. Allowing him time to check you out and coexist is best for him before going right in for pets. Once he feels comfortable though he LOVES pets and attention and will come over with a wagging nub and smiling face. When meeting Kodi you may not think that he had any fears with strangers, but that is because we have done things a certain way and took the pressure off of him when introducing him to people. Don't let his age turn you away. Kodi still has a lot of energy and is young at heart. He didn't seem to know what toys were, but during his time here in foster care he has learned that they are fun. He loves throwing his toys up in the air and catching them. It is quite entertaining to watch. He also is starting to get the hang of fetch as well. Kodi loves car rides! He is so quiet and good in the car. His favorite places to go are drive thrus where he hopes that he may get something for being such a good boy. He also loves going to the park and taking a nice stroll taking in all of the new smells and scenery. Gardening? Reading a good book? Hiking? Kodi will be right there to keep you company with a wagging nub. He is down for anything you want to do. Kodi has come so far with his confidence since entering the rescue. We need to make sure that his family will truly understand this and is open and willing to learn how to keep this going in his new home. A low-key home would be best for him without a lot of visitors or young kids. Kodi can be slower to adapt to change so his adopter will need to give him ample time to adjust and acclimate to his new people, environment, and routine. Kodi has so much love to give and is ready to start a new chapter. Think you can give this boy what he needs? Bruno is a very handsome guy who has matured into a hunk of a boy. He's approximately 2 to 2.5 yrs old and is charming. He thrives on lots of exercise, structure, and clear expectations. He would do well with a fairly active adopter with no small children as he can get overstimulated in play with little ones at times. A home with children over 12 who have lived with large, dogs similar to this breed is recommended. Bruno would love a Rottie savvy home who can offer structure and love and fun experiences! He does very well interacting and playing with other dogs, as well as coexisting on group walks. Bruno enjoys physical and mental exercise. This is our adorable Cherry! Cherry is always smiling. She has an upbeat personality and energy level. Cherry is quite friendly and loves playing with a rope toy or chasing a ball, but is  always interested in a good belly rub. Cherry makes her own fun! She's an awesome companion. We don't see her as being good with cats or small children due to her 'on the go' nature. She would unintentionally knock a child over in her zeal to engage and give kisses. This cutie is Daphne! Daphne is a 3 year old girl ready to roll! She's quite hefty at 110 lbs, but we have her on a diet (shhhh!). Daphne is a really good girl in the house. She's housebroken, enjoys being given free rein of the house, and will not touch anything she shouldn't even when she's home alone. She prefers not to be crated and has proven she can be trusted. If she needs to be put away, she makes herself quite comfortable in her foster's den. ​Daphne loves her humans, and actually, any human who offers her a treat. She will gladly make anyone who has a tasty tidbit feel like they are her one and only...until the treats run out lol. Every person in these photos were friends she just met that day. She will bark at first at new people, but when she she notices treats, it's over like a light switch! She's got the Rottie lean down pat! Daphne met a cat and was barely interested in him as you can see in the video. Daphne can be around other dogs, but does not appreciate them in her personal space. She can also be dominant towards other dogs given the opportunity. For this reason, we prefer she be the only apple of your eye. She can see other dogs, for example on leash on walks, at the vet, even a pet store, and not react. It's direct interaction that isn't her preference. ​Wanna meet her? This cutie pie is Archie! Archie is a 1-2 year old little dude weighing in at 50 pounds. He's highly affectionate, LOVES food and treats, and has an adorable little munchkin face! Archie is between 1 and 2 years old and loves attention as much as he loves food. When he's not eating or excitedly soliciting pets and attention, he has a medium level of energy. Archie is almost housebroken, but will need monitoring initially and scheduled time outside. He is not at the point where you can walk him and go to work all day. AJ is an adorable, petite. 1 year old guy who is very affectionate. He loves attention from his humans and is a loyal companion. While he will whine when not with his family members, he is not destructive, just 'concerned'. He does settle once he has expressed his opinion! AJ is an anxious, timid boy, due to the trauma he suffered that made him homeless. He was found by the police tied to a fence in the middle of the night. He was in good condition so it just didn't make sense. He was taken to the shelter but no one came looking for him. He will need time to decompress in a new home, so patience is an important factor for his anxiety. Once he warms up, and with his humans, he is calm. In the beginning he is 'waiting for the other shoe to drop' because of his past abandonment, but once he realizes he's safe, he adjusts. You couldn't find a sweeter creature than this little guy! AJ loves treats and his favorite snack is a big juicy raw marrow bone. It will keep him busy for hours. The photos are from the shelter, but AJ is now in foster care and is house and crate trained.
