Story
small, sensitive, middle aged dog in need of forever home. roughly used and mostly untrained, but resilient and adaptable. would not be great with small children or loud, overly emotive people. loves dogs, but not actually socialized. loves outdoor activities like hiking, but also likes calmly cuddling. chipped but not updated. will need a sensitive and calm environment at first. will definitely choose a favorite person in the home (not for the jealous). would make a great companion for an elder. house trained, crate trained. she's not quite sure how to do the playing thing. highly food motivated. given enough food, i feel she can adapt to anything except fat. 9 years old.

Story
Meet Finn , an absolutely darling Yorkie x Dachshund mix. This little man is portable, playful, current on all vax and already neutered, he is ready for anything, mostly for a new family to call his own. Finn came to us as an owner surrender due to life changes in his home, however, his family did a great job getting him to this point in his life, he is socialized and will fit in a home with or without a furry playmate, and with his size, he is a good choice for a smaller home. Finn loves to snuggle and give kisses and is a king of fetch! He is being fostered with a doodle dog and kiddos and enjoying playtime in their yard. Is Finn your new best buddy?

* Thank you for your interest in adopting a dog from Little Dog Rescue. Our dogs come from a variety of sources and backgrounds. They are all in need of adopters that have patience, an understanding of where these dogs have come from, and that there will be an adjustment time when they transition into their forever home. This can include learning basic commands, walking on leash and potty training. Some dogs will pick up on your routine and expectations faster than others. Potty accidents will happen. We find that positive reinforcement, consistency, and routine from the adopter achieves the best results. We are a small, all volunteers team and give 100% of our efforts towards doing right by these pups. We are often juggling many responsibilities at the same time and do our very best to process inquiries and applications in a timely manner. We do prioritize inquiries that have a submitted application on file through the Little Dog Rescue website. We do our best to accurately assign breed designations, however we are unable to guarantee 100% accuracy. Sometimes we only have the dogs appearance to go on. Our adoption fees are thoughtfully considered. The adoption fee is not a purchase price for the dog. It is a fee that is designed to support the overall work of our rescue. Highly desirable dogs and puppies are intentionally listed with a higher adoption fee. This is done to help offset the enormous medical expenses we incur when taking in older pups and special needs medical dogs whose adoption fees do not come close to covering their expenses. In addition, the vast majority of our dogs are brought in from out of state and incur transport fees along with their medical and acquisition costs. We ask that you take all of these things into consideration, and we look forward to finding a great match for your family. *Please note that adoptions for our adult dogs will occur after their scheduled Spay/Neuter surgeries.

Click the button to download the adoption application. The application is a form-fillable pdf. Fill out the form, save it to your hard drive, then email back to sian@gingerspetrescue.org Hi!!  My name is Violet from Korea and I am a wonderful approx. 5 yr old female Yorkshire Terrier.  I am about 9 lbs. and hoping to find a forever home.  I am friendly and was saved from an illegal Breeding Farm in South Korea.  I was rescued with many others by local activists from the horrific conditions we were in.  I fought to survive everyday and was so badly neglected.  Korea kills an estimated 1.5 -2 million dogs a year to be eaten.  I just want a chance to be part of a family and for someone to love and care for me.  I am so lucky to get a one-way ticket to Seattle to find my new family.  Take me on car rides, walks in the park and I will become your best friend.  I get along well with people of all ages, gentle kids, and other dogs.  I will do best with a loving family that can give me lots of love and affection!  On all overseas adoption, we highly recommend our pet rescue dog trainer who will come to your home and help train your new pup for only $75.  My adoption fee of $1,595 will cover my spay/neuter, DA2PP shots, Rabies, Bordetella, Deworm, Heart Worm Test, Microchip, Boarding Fees, Health Certificate and airline transport cost from Korea to Seattle.  A GPS tracker or Apple AirTag is required for all adopted dogs. You can bring your own when adopting or you can purchase an AirTag from us.  The adoption fee is firm and helps save the life of another dog needing rescue and our other dogs in need of medical care.  We do not guarantee the breed and age of the dogs.  Donations are always appreciated to help pay down our vet bills at Greenwood Vet.  Ginger's Pet Rescue is a non-profit 501C-3 organization.  Please e-mail at  admin@gingerspetrescue.org  for an adoption application. The adoption fee is due on the day of adoption in the form of a check, Chase Quick Pay via Zelle, PayPal, or cash. The unthinkable these sweet souls go through is pure evil. The very gentle Santa once had a home in Korea but his owner was in the final stages of their life with cancer & decided to just leave Santa abandoned in the home by himself with no one at all. Thankfully the Korean rescue rescued our adorable Santa & placed him in a loving foster home in Korea. No one was still coming to give this boy a loving forever home. Unfortunately he still could not find a home in Korea & we were asked could we help this beautiful boy & it was our pleasure to. Santa was rescued by the amazing Korean rescue & just as always we are beyond grateful to the Korean rescue & we are so extremely grateful for what they do day in & day out for these babies & there is also such a great financial responsibility when rescuing these babies so we cannot begin to thank them enough. Santa was bought back to the USA where he is now a US citizen & is so happy to be here & can’t wait to find his new loving devoted forever home. This soft gentle soul has been abandoned & left for dead but you would not know it with his wonderful & oh so forgiving personality. Santa has a lovely personality, he is warm, friendly & affectionate & enjoys a good outing. Did we mention you can pick this beautiful boy up & he will let you carry him? He loves to receive love & hugs & kisses. He also enjoys a windy day with the wind in his face. When Santa arrived to us he had waft appeared to be an old black scar on his right left leg from a previous injury but we will never know what happened to him there. He is doing well walking on his harness & leash & loved going on walks in Korea & does well here on his outings. He did end up having a foster home in Korea who worked with him & helped him flourish. We do know he adores dogs, he loves them & he absolutely needs another dog or dogs in the home for her to play with, this is mandatory. We currently have Santa with other dogs. Did we mention this boy loves a good outfit, well yes he does. In Korea in his foster home he always had an outfit on. He also is good with both male & females. Having toys & a warm bed is all new to Santa until he went into his foster home in Korea & he loves toys, especially the squeaky toys so get the toy box ready for this sweet boy. Santa’s new forever home must have a fully fenced backyard. Santa is good with being bathed & is even good when being dried with a hairdryer. Santa rides beautifully in the car & loves a good journey, so great in the car. We are looking for a crate free home for this little lady only. Santa does not like crates & who could blame him after being abandoned the way he was in Korea. We are also looking for a forever home for Santa where someone is home during the day or he can go with his people wherever possibly he can go with them. Santa is looking for a forever home who will cherish him & love him as he should be loved & be patient with him. Santa has been around many breeds of dogs all shapes & sizes & he is currently with other dogs & does well. Santa needs to go to a forever home with another dog or dogs in the home, he really enjoys the company of other dogs & we currently have him with other dogs. This is mandatory along with a fully fenced secure backyard. Santa is roughly 9.2 lbs & has put on weight with us. When we got him, he was a little skinny. He is 6 years old & perhaps a maltese mix, what he is mixed with we are not sure, male, he is neutered had a dental/scale & polish, he had an incisor removed, he was treated for an ear infection on the outside of his ears & different parts of his body with otomax. He is microchipped, had a skin scrapping done & it was negative for anything. His left front leg has a dark pigmented spot on his leg that was from an old wound in Korea that they do not not know what happened with his previous owner. He is up to date on her shots, including DHLPP, Bordatella, CIV, rabies, treated with credelio & dewormed. We have spent far more on Santa with bringing him to the US with hid travel costs, his medical, his dental, boarding fees etc & bringing him to WA than his adoption fee covers. Santa has not been around cats since being in the rescue, but in Korea he was in a foster home with cats & could care less. But it’s always up to the new family to be responsible with their animals together & we have not had him around small children so we do not recommend small children nor cats & it’s always up to the family to be responsible with their children & cats. We were not there when Santa was conceived so we do not know who his parents were & it’s always up to the new potential family to look at the pictures & decide what they think his breed is. As with all of our rescues & Santa friends he will need work on potty training & training, so this should be something the new family would be willing to work on & commit to. Please do not submit an application if you are not willing to commit to one of our rescues care for their whole life & that includes if they need training. Please do not email us asking is Santa potty trained or available, nor do we ship dogs anywhere as we will not respond. We would never say anyone of our rescues are potty trained. Our rescues need homes where the people are understanding of their past & what they have been through & what they will need in their daily lives & not willing to give up on them & if they do need training in their new home will in fact take them to training & not just say they will when applying. Please only submit an application if you are truly interested in adopting Santa & going through our process and have read his listing fully to the end & are wanting to adopt. If you are not responsive to our calls, emails or your references do not respond we will move on & remove your application from our system. You must be willing to go through our screening process which includes your references being checked, a phone interview & a virtual home visit via WebEx due to covid & followed by a meet and greet & if it’s a good fit, up to our discretion. We will only be accepting applications for Santa who understands his needs & that meet all the requirements for this special sweet little lad. Once we find the right home for each little soul we work fast, within days so the dogs can go to their forever homes in quite a timely manner. We do not hold onto dogs for people as our goal is to save lives & please do not submit an application if you are not ready to adopt. We also cannot respond to every application unfortunately. Santa has an adoption fee of $850 & is ready for his truly loving forever home & compassion & understanding of what he has been through.

The heinous life Iris lived before we rescued her is unacceptable. Iris’s mind body & soul was been used as a breeding machine in a puppy mill in Missouri to make money off her back & had we not bid on her & all the other amazing dogs they would of been sold again to continued to be used to breed & live a disgusting life in a cage. We were able to bid on her & in fact bought her to stop having a life of misery over & over again for evil human beings to make money off her. Living her life outside in the stinking heat day after day then in the freezing cold in winter time in a metal tin can of a shed was over. Her life was instantly changing in that moment & only for the better. On this day we rescued a total of 14 breeding mums & dads & puppies who all they knew was to breed in a life of hell & then being sold to start the cycle all over again. Of course when we rescue these amazing souls they have had no veterinary care whatsoever & we have to start from scratch. Now the real healing, love & devotion could begin & show Iris how she is supposed to be loved & adored in a loving forever home. Iris was bought back to the WA state where she now is so happy to be here & can’t wait to find her new loving devoted forever home. Straight from the moment Iris was rescued we knew she was so special. She even got to ride shotgun when rescued as she was instantly a favorite for being so sweet. Her foster mum said her tail does not stop wagging, she is always happy even when her foster mum or dad just picks her up to give her love her tails doesn’t stop. This was a scary one for this girl, if we had not been there & bid as much as we did she would of ended continued to be used as breeding machine for as long as a breeder wanted to breed her. As it is, who knows how many liters of puppies she has already had? She had to be shaved down in some areas as she did have some matting. But she was so scary skinny when we rescued her. Her tail bone & hips protruded & they still do but she has put on weight since being in her lovely foster home but absolutely would need to put on more weight in her forever home. She has bowed back legs but does not affect her happiness at all. Her foster family said since they have had Iris her whole coat has changed being more healthy & her cost changed in color since she is now getting great nutrition. She is good with her baths & adjusted to being groomed, but not a fan of the hairdryer but is getting used to it. She does not enjoy her feet being shaved on her pads. We did have to shave her down because of all the matting but her fur is growing back in. For everything she has been through, she adapted quite quickly to her very devoted foster home. Her foster mum & dad said she is just so easy & such a sweetheart that sometimes they don’t even know she is there. They said she is a very smart & picked up on everything very quickly. Her foster mum will be preparing her & her foster siblings their food & while waiting she will be asleep at her feet with her foster siblings. She adores being picked up & held & cuddled they said, she just wants to be loved & she loves them back. Her foster mum also said she likes to go for wander & do her own thing. The reality is, the foster homes are her real first experience at being in a home, with a tv, bedding she can snuggle up in, a roof over her head that’s not outside. When she first arrived in her foster home she did not know what to do with the food & treats. But now she knows exactly what is going on & doesn’t miss a beat when it comes to eating. She is now obsessed with food in her foster home. Originally she could take it or leave it but now woofs down her food. In her foster home all of her food is made for her & she eats clean, with fruits, vegetables, proteins & grains. Her foster family said she is so happy now & will stand on her back legs with enthusiasm to see them & when it’s good time. She gets very excited. She adores comfy beds & big comfy blankets because again the reality is, this is something she did not get to experience ever until she was rescued. She will want to snuggle up in bed with you & she doesn’t take up hardly any room het foster family said as she curls up in a ball. She would still need work walking on her harness & leash as it’s all completely new to her. In her foster home she explores the fully fenced backyard & loves to sit outside in the sun but not for to long because she thinks she will be left outside. She does not discriminate against breeds. But she can be bossy & want to be the boss especially if a dog is being naughty to her, she will sometimes be the fun police but will then want to snuggle up with that dog. Iris rides beautifully in the car & considering the only times we know of was when she went to auction to be sold & when we got her & going home with her foster family & she has done so amazing in the car with her foster mum. We are looking for a crate free home for this little lady only. She hates crates & will refuses to go near them. Iris as you can imagine spent the first part of her life in a caged environment. We are also looking for a forever home for Iris where someone is home during the day or she can go with her people wherever possibly she can go with them. Iris is looking for a forever home who will cherish her & love her as she should be loved & be patient with her & never give up on her. Iris has been around many breeds of dogs all shapes & sizes in the rescue & in her foster home & she is currently with other dogs & adores other dogs. Iris needs to go to a forever home with another dog or dogs in the home, she enjoys the company of other dogs & we currently have her with other dogs in her loving foster home. Please do not apply saying your neighbors have a dog or family members or you will take her to places where there are other dogs. That will not work, another dog or dogs is mandatory along with a fully fenced backyard. Did we mention this girl likes a good outfit, well yes she does. UPDATE: Beautiful Iris was adopted & returned for being unhappy in that home but is thriving again in a loving foster home & has put on more weight again which we believe she lost & we got her back to our vets & treated her for a single ear infection. She is ready for a loving forever home with other dogs present in the home & a forever home who will cherish this queen. Iris is roughly 13.6 lbs, she is 6 years old. She is a Lhasa apso & what she is mixed with we are not sure, female, she is spayed by laser by our wonderful vets. We treated her for an ear infection in 1 ear only & she received ear meds. She received a dental scale & polish, dental x-rays along with gum surgery & extraction of 4 premolar’s intermediate removed. She is microchipped, had all her shots, including DHLPP, Bordatella, rabies & dewormed. Her back legs are bowed from spending her first 6 years in a crate but that does not stop her. We have spent far more on Iris with paying for her from a puppy mill auction in Missouri. Bringing her to WA with her travel costs, her flight fees flying her to WA. All of her medical care in WA including, neuter by laser etc & bringing her to WA then her adoption fee comes close to covering. Her adoption fee does not even come close to covering half of what we have spent on Iris. Iris has not been around cats since being in the rescue, but it’s always up to the new family to be responsible with their animals together & we have not had her around small children so we do not recommend small children nor cats & it’s always up to the family to be responsible with their children & cats. The call was put out for the need from several commercial breeders who needed some of their dogs gone, at a cost of course in the middle of the midwest. Of course they always want money for some of the dogs & of course once we know about them we are not leaving them & do what we have to do to help them. With beautiful Elderberry she was used over & over again as a breeding machine & spent her life in a cage. She had a rotten mouth full of teeth that were so bad we had to have 19 teeth removed for this sweet angel. These innocent souls lives were instantly changing in that moment & only for the better. She was one of the very lucky ones. On this day we rescued a total of 17 lives of mums, dads & puppies including Elderberry. Now the real healing, love & devotion could begin & show Elderberry how she is supposed to be loved & adored in a loving forever home just as they are in their foster home. Elderberry & her friends were bought back to the WA state where she is now so happy to be here & can’t wait to find her new loving devoted forever home. This beautiful girl has seen it all & experienced it all. The sheer cruelty she has endured is absolutely disgusting. When we first rescued Elderberry she was so very frightened & would try & hide. Well of course she did because she was only ever handled to grab & breed & the cycle continue. But now she is timid but knows when we pick her up it’s very different. She lets us pick her up & she is so sweet & innocent & such a lovely little lass. She now lets us do anything we need to do with her. She absolutely adores her 2 friends she came with, 2 bichons. 1 of the bichon Nebulas watches over & loves her. Everything is all so new to her & she is learning how she should have always been cherished. The reality is, the rescue is her real first experience at being in a home, with a tv, bedding she can snuggle up in, a roof over her head that’s not outside. The fact too that no one can ever be cruel to her ever again. Elderberry is a wonderful eater & since removing her teeth it had not stopped her. Since her teeth have been removed she had been on a soft diet. She adores comfy beds & big comfy blankets because again the reality is, this is something she did not ever get to experience ever until she was rescued. She currently sleeps with her friends who rescued together. She loves everyone & is so very sweet. She is good with being bathed & groomed & tolerates the hairdryer. Believe it or not she just lets you do anything to her. She would still need to be taught to walk on a harness & leash. Since we have had her she has been taught to walk on a slip lead. Elderberry rides in the car well & considering the only times we know of was when she went to be sold & when we got her & going home & to & from the vets with us & her loving foster home. But she does absolutely amazing in the car. We are looking for a crate free home for this little lady only. Elderberry as you can imagine spent her life in a caged environment. We are also looking for a forever home for Elderberry where someone is home during the day or she can go with his people wherever possibly he can go with them. When they find someone who treats them as they should be treated & loves them they get so attached to them. Elderberry is looking for a forever home who will cherish her & love her as she should be loved & be patient with her & never give up on her. Elderberry has been around many breeds of dogs all shapes & sizes in the rescue & she is currently with her friends she came with. She will be found snuggled up with them. She absolutely must go to a forever home with a dog or dog’s present in the home for her to thrive in. Please do not apply saying your neighbors have a dog or family members or you will take him to places where there are other dogs. That will not work, another dog or dogs is mandatory along with a fully fenced backyard if you have a freestanding home. Elderberry is roughly 8.4 lbs & he is roughly 8 years old & ‭a Maltese‬. What she is mixed with we are not sure. Female, she is spayed by laser by our wonderful vets, she is microchipped, up to date on her shots, including DHPP, bordatella, leptospirosis & rabies. She had a major dental & had 19 teeth removed. Her mouth was an absolute mess. She had gum surgery, treated for Oronasal fistula left upper. She had 6 minor molars, 7 premolar minors & 5 incisor molars removed. We have spent far more on Elderberry with getting her from a commercial breeder. So far our costs for her have hit over $2600. Bringing her to WA with her travel costs, her transportation to WA. All of her medical care in WA & Omaha etc & bringing her to WA then her adoption fee comes close to covering. Elderberry has not been around cats since being in the rescue, but it’s always up to the new family to be responsible with their animals together & we have had her around small children & she adores them but we do do not recommend small children nor cats though & it’s always up to the family to be responsible with their children & cats. We were not there when Elderberry was conceived so we do not know who her parents were & it’s always up to the new potential family to look at the pictures & decide what they think her breed is. As with all of our rescues & Elderberry’s friends & siblings she will need work on potty training & training, so this should be something the new family would be willing to work on & commit to. Please do not submit an application if you are not willing to commit to one of our rescues care for their whole life & that includes if they need training. Please do not email us asking is Elderberry potty trained or available, nor do we ship dogs anywhere as we will not respond. We would never say anyone of our rescues are potty trained. Our rescues need homes where the people are understanding of their past & what they have been through & what they will need in their daily lives & not willing to give up on them & if they do need training in their new home will in fact take them to training & not just say they will when applying. Please only submit an application if you are truly interested in adopting Elderberry & going through our process and have read her listing fully to the end & are wanting to adopt. If you are not responsive to our calls, emails or your references do not respond we will move on. Or you waste this rescues time, will remove your application from our system. You must be willing to go through our screening process which includes your references being checked, a phone interview & a virtual home visit via WebEx or Zoom due to covid & followed by a meet & greet & if it’s a good fit, up to our discretion. We will only be accepting applications for Elderberry who understands her needs & that meet all the requirements for the special sweet little Elderberry. Once we find the right home for each little soul we work fast, within days so the dogs can go to their forever homes in quite a timely manner. We do not hold onto dogs for people as our goal is to save lives & please do not submit an application if you are not ready to adopt. We also cannot respond to every application unfortunately. Elderberry has an adoption fee of $1250 & is ready for her truly loving forever home & compassion & understanding of what she has been through.
