Story
Meet Harley! This pint-sized 5 year old lady recently came to us from a local animal control. She is very quiet and calm in her crate but LOVES to go on walks and shower her people with kisses! Harley would is not a fan of kitties, and does well with dogs upon a slow introduction. The NAWS Dog Adoption Program operates as a rescue versus a shelter. We believe in matching the right dog with the appropriate family based on each specific dog and family’s needs. To achieve this, we believe in spending the appropriate amount of time with each family to allow for enough interaction time with potential adopters. This cannot be achieved if people stop by unexpectedly to meet our dogs. Please submit an application at www.NawsUS.org under the Pet Adoption tab to set up and day and time to meet with one of our adoption counselors and our potential adoptees. Thank you!

Meet Quincy! This handsome 2 year old came to us all the way from Tennessee! He keeps his crate very clean and gets along well with other dogs. He has a lot of energy and loves to play, but also calms down and just wants to snuggle. Quincy would make a great addition to any family! Story
Archie is such a special little guy in so many ways that we aren’t sure that writing this bio will do him justice, but we sure are going to try! Archie was found as a skinny stray at six weeks old. At animal control it was quickly discovered that he had a vision impairment, and was clumsy and wobbly on his feet. The Animal Control veterinarian wasn’t quite sure what condition he had specifically, but knew something neurological was going on. When our team met him, and saw how spirited, loving, and happy he was despite his challenges, she knew that WISH had to help him and get him into a foster home. We didn’t know what was going on with him exactly, but we were committed to finding out as much as we could with the help of our veterinary team. Archie has seen our regular veterinarian, as well as an eye specialist. Despite some subtle facial deformities (that somehow just add to his cuteness), and his vision impairment, Archie is a fairly normal developing puppy. It is suspected that he may have cerebellar hypoplasia (which causes him to have a wobbly gait), that has improved as he has grown and gained more muscle (as is typical with cerebellar hypoplasia). If he does have cerebellar hypoplasia, he is pretty steady compared to other dogs and cats with the condition! He can run, jump, and play! In fact, he loves to play so much with other dogs that we are hopeful to find him a home with another playful dog to wrestle around with and play. Although we learned that Archie is blind, you’ll swear that he can see! He is able to quickly map out his surroundings and navigates them well. And if he gets confused, he lets out these little whimpers and cries almost like he is calling mom for help. We happen to find it so darn adorable! Archie is also able to follow sound, which is helpful when he is playing in the yard or can’t see you, but knows you are there. For Archie’s safety we think a home with no stairs or minimal stairs, and a fenced yard would be best. Archie is an incredibly friendly pup who really thinks everyone and everything wants to be his friend. Strangers? Yup! Kids? No doubt! Dogs? You betcha! He’s just a happy, go lucky guy. Which is pretty amazing considering the adversity he has experienced. He romps around with favorite toys, and likes to play chase like any other puppy. He loves a good nap, and is a world class snuggler. He quickly forms attachments with things he uses regularly like his crate, dog bed, and preferred toys, and thrives on routine. This is a skill that can take some dog owners months to train a puppy. But not Archie! He is calm in his crate, and quietly sleeps through the night. He is happy to find his favorite dog bed and take a nap, and is even doing well with housebreaking. Archie comes to find us when he has to go potty, but like any other puppy his age, he will still need support in this area. Archie’s breeds are a mystery to us, but given the area he came from, and his personality, we think it is likely that he is a pitbull or pitbull mix. Regardless of that we do know that he is 100% cute. Our vet thinks he will grow to be about 60 lbs. Archie is a really special boy looking for that special person or special family to share his life with. Every person that meets Archie falls in love with him. He’s got something about him where you just can’t resist his charms. Archie needs a home where he can safely explore and be afforded the opportunity to be his absolutely lovable self. Special needs dogs make outstanding companions and Archie is ready for the challenge. The adoption fee for Archie is $200. This donation helps to cover veterinary expenses including spay/neuter, microchip and vaccinations. Wish Upon a Rescue is a 501(c)3 non-profit, foster based animal rescue. If you would like to meet Archie please complete our adoption questionnaire at www.wishuponarescue.org/adopt. We will review your responses and be in contact to schedule a meet and greet at a time and place convenient for your family and our team member.

Story
Meet Pearl: Your New Best Friend and Adventure Buddy! Looking for a loyal companion who’s always down for whatever you’ve got in mind? Meet Pearl, a 3-year-old Staffy mix with a heart as big as her paws! This sweet girl is a “girl’s girl” who’s ready to join in on all your activities. Need to get outside quickly? Pearl’s got your back—she’ll get her business done in no time, so you can get back inside and out of the cold. Want to get some steps in? She’s always up for a leisurely stroll. Had a tough day? Pearl will happily loaf on the couch with you, providing all the cuddles and comfort you need. While Pearl’s currently living with cats, she tends to get a little too excited around them, so she’d be happiest in a cat-free home where she can be the center of attention. She’s already mastered basic commands like sit, go to bed (crate), and outside, and with her love for treats, she’s a quick learner—training will be a breeze! Pearl is looking for a family who’ll treat her like the precious gem she is, showering her with love, fun, and plenty of belly rubs. If you’re ready for a loyal best friend who will bring endless joy, affection, and adventure to your life, Pearl just might be the perfect fit. Could Pearl be the sparkle your home has been missing? Come meet her today and see if she’s the adventure buddy you’ve been waiting for! The adoption fee for Pearl is $400. This donation helps to cover veterinary expenses including spay/neuter, microchip and vaccinations. Wish Upon a Rescue is a 501(c)3 non-profit, foster based animal rescue. Story
Hello Animal Lovers, I’m moving out of town and I have to find a new forever home for my baby. His name is Kay-Kay. He is a 2yr old Rescue Pit Bull Terrier with white and black spots. He is microchipped and unfortunately due to my busy work schedule as a therapist and I never got around to getting his updated shots. However, he has been receiving flea and tick treatments on a periodic basis. He needs lots of training. He is spoiled and loves attention. He is a sweetheart. He is an extremely picky eater and use to eating human food mixed with Pedigree dog food. He loves to munch on the bones. He is super active/energetic, friendly, protective, funny, loves to cuddle and receive belly and head rubs.

Story
Talk about being able to say you have truly gone through hell, and made it back. That is the story for Nero. This gorgeous boy is a skeleton. He is tired and has been severely neglected and is looking for a place to recover and simply experience love again. He is gentle and slow. He wants nothing more than to kiss your face and be next to you. He is great in his crate and just needs time and space to gain weight, grow his coat back, and get healthy. Although he looks awful, it is all on the outside. This dog is still so trusting. He is sweet, gentle, walks great on a leash, and will make someone the best companion ever. He would love walks, hiking, or just hanging with you. Please consider fostering or adopting this angel baby. He is brave and will bring so much love and light to your world. Show him the good side of humans, give him a chance.
