Story
Kora - Female Pocket Pitt/Terrier Mix (BREED IS STRICTLY BEST GUESS ONLY) Date of Birth. 4/30/2024 Weight 38lbs FENCED IN YARD REQUIRED Kora is 11 months old, 38 pounds, and just as sweet as can be. She is a little shy at first, but once she says hello and feels comfortable you get to see her spunky personality. She has a cute wiggle butt when she is excited, or when she greets you coming home. She does amazing in her crate, and is completely potty trained. Her ideal home will be on the calmer side, but have a fenced yard for her to enjoy and another dog to pay with. She is so good about sharing toys, and loves to wrestle and run around with other dogs. This girl may be shy at first, but once she comes out of her shell, she is a talker! She enjoys making  moans and groans when she wants to play, or when she sees/smells you eating something yummy. Kora had a rough start to life. We believe her original owner dumped her at the shelter in horrific condition. Her skin was riddled with demadex mange, and she was very frightful. Luckily the angels at the shelter in Alabama treated her mange, and gave her much needed assurance that all humans aren’t bad. She can get startled by new things and places, so a family or person who will be patient with helping her build confidence around new things/places would be great! Kora will tolerate bath time like a champ if you have doggy peanut butter or treats.  She loves to play with her humans and dogs. She loves car rides, and a good snuggle at the end of the day. She is very food motivated, which will make her very easy to train. She currently has mastered the “sit” command, and is working on her recall / “come” command! If you think Kora is a good fit for you, please fill out an application at www..foreverhomedogrescueil.org Thank you for considering the adoption of one of our rescue dogs. We are committed to finding our rescues the perfect home. Together we can make a difference in the life of a dog. The adoption process should be a fun and exciting time for families and dogs. Our goal is to place our babies in forever homes. The potential adopter needs to be dedicated to their care and training for life. Understand that sharing your life with a dog can be a commitment of 15+ years. This would include feeding, exercise, training, vetting, and providing a loving home. Ask yourself, "Am I ready for this type of commitment?" If you are ready, we are here to help. We do have some requirements to help us find the perfect placement of our babies. WE ARE A FOSTER BASED RESCUE ONLY. WE DO NOT HAVE A PHYSICAL BUILDING 1. Apply online at https://www.foreverhomedogrescueil.org We must have an application, conduct a phone interview, and meet your entire family (including other dogs) to approve an adoption. Only a final approval for adoption can take place after a successful meet and greet. This is done by appointments only. We will not proceed with the adoption if everyone has not met the dog. This will allow others the opportunity to adopt the dog. 2. Adopters MUST be 25 years old. Information on all adults/members living in the home is required We REQUIRE you to provide proof and vet reference that all current and past pets have been kept up to date on all routine medical. 3. Illinois law requires that all of our dogs and puppies be spayed/neutered within 30 days of adoption. In order to fully comply with this regulation and reduce the number of homeless dogs and puppies, 4. If you do not own your home, you must provide landlord contact information on the application and a copy of your lease that outlines the rules for dog ownership in your residence. Large breed dogs will not be adopted into apartment settings or where there are breed/ size restrictions. Puppies have special needs and require a home where someone is available to care for, socialize, and give basic training. If you are gone for more than a couple hours at a time, please consider adopting a teen or older dog. 5. Adoption fees are $425.00. We accept Zelle, Cash or Checks. (Prices are subject to change without notice). 6. All dogs and puppies adopted through Forever Home are fully vetted with age appropriate vaccines. Keep in mind once you take possession of your newly adopted dog, any and all future medical costs or care is YOUR responsibility. 7. First time puppy/dog adopters will be required to sign up for and pay in advance a basic training class. A deposit of an extra 50.00 will be required until a class has been completed, it will then be returned. 8. Story
Prada is a 6-year-old Pit Bull Terrier mix with a heart as big as her love for cuddles! This black and white pup is absolutely adorable and has a super sweet personality to match. She loves being pet and snuggled, making her the perfect companion for anyone looking for a loyal best friend. Prada also enjoys spending time outside, going on sniffy walks, and exploring the world around her. And when it comes to treats and snacks—she's a big fan! With her loving nature and happy spirit, Prada is ready to find her forever home where she can be spoiled with love and belly rubs! When Prada arrived at Anderson Animal Shelter from their partner shelter in Oklahoma, she tested positive for Heartworm. The staff believes that the best place for Heartworm-positive dogs like Prada to recover is in a loving forever home. With the right care and support, she can make a full recovery while receiving plenty of love from her new family. If you choose to adopt Prada, the clinic staff will be there every step of the way, answering questions and offering guidance. The treatment process typically takes about three months and includes simple at-home steps to keep her safe and comfortable. A follow-up test is required six months after treatment begins to ensure her full recovery. The good news? The Heartworm treatment process is highly successful, and the staff is confident that Prada will bounce back beautifully! Plus, it’s important to know that Heartworm can only be transmitted by mosquitoes—it cannot be passed directly from one animal to another. Prada is ready to find her forever home and heal with a family who will give her the love she deserves! Stop in and meet Prada in person during our adoption hours. For more information, email info@ahconnects.org or call us at 847-697-2880 x: 0, and the staff will be happy to help you. Our dogs and puppies go home spayed/neutered, microchipped, heartworm tested (6 months and over), and up to date on core vaccines, heartworm, flea, and tick preventatives. Their adoption also includes a free-vet exam at one of our participating veterinarians.

Meet Kehlani – Playgroup Royalty and Certified Zoomie Queen! Looking for a pup who’s equal parts playful, spunky, and sweet? Look no further—Kehlani (or Lani, if you’re in the inner circle) is ready to bring joy, energy, and a whole lot of tail wags into your life! Lani is a black and white pitty/cattle dog mix with a firecracker personality and a heart of gold. She’s smart, active, and absolutely thrives when given a mix of training, enrichment, and time to romp with her doggy pals. In fact, she’s a playgroup superstar, with over 30 dog and puppy friends under her collar! She loves chase games, wrestling matches, and goofy zoomie laps—and she’d be over the moon to have a canine brother or sister at home to keep the fun going. If you’ve got a fenced backyard, Lani says “yes please!”—she’s always down for some outdoor zooms or sunbathing between play sessions. She’s hoping for a human who’s ready to keep up with her smarts and spark, offering adventures, structure, and love. Cues that Kehlani Knows: Sit Down Touch Take it/Drop It Trade Me! Place (work in progress) If your idea of a perfect day includes a happy dog, a little chaos (the fun kind), and a lifetime best friend, Kehlani might just be your girl. Meet Marcus, a high-energy sweetheart who’s bursting with love and personality! This handsome guy is always ready for action — whether it's a game of fetch, a walk around the neighborhood, or a good old-fashioned zoomie session in the yard. He’s got endless enthusiasm and an even bigger heart, especially when it comes to giving kisses and soaking up attention. Marcus is the perfect blend of playful and cuddly. After he's burned off some energy, he’s more than happy to snuggle up for some pets and quality cuddle time. He thrives on companionship and would love a home where he can be part of the fun and get all the love he so eagerly gives. Story
Meet Mila, the stunning chocolate Pit Bull Terrier mix with the most precious face and a personality as vibrant as her coat! Mila is a small but mighty bundle of energy who thrives on adventure and playtime. She absolutely loves long walks—especially when she gets to sniff everything in sight! A harness is her best friend for walks since she’s a strong and enthusiastic explorer. Plush toys with squeakers are her absolute favorite, and she takes great joy in shredding them to bits like the pro toy-destroyer she is (she has not ingested the pieces either). Mila is a big fan of tasty, fragrant treats like cheese and freeze-dried goodies, and she’s eager to learn new training cues with the help of a squeaky toy or two. She’s already doing great with “sit”! Though she can be a bit of a jumper and occasionally gets mouthy when excited, it’s all in good fun, and she’s quick to settle when given a little time and patience. Mila’s playful nature extends to dogs, and she’s shown friendly body language during family walks with another pup. She hasn’t met cats or kids, but her spirited energy and parkour-like antics mean she’d do best in a home without little ones (small children). This sweet girl has had zero potty accidents in her foster home, loves car rides, and even enjoys rubbing up against her humans for some extra affection. If you’re looking for a loving, energetic companion who’s ready to join you on all of life’s adventures, Mila is your girl! Could this playful pittie be your perfect match? Stop by during our adoption hours. For more information, email info@ahconnects.org or call us at 847-697-2880 x: 0, and the staff will be happy to help you. Our dogs and puppies go home spayed/neutered, microchipped, heartworm tested (7 months and over), and up to date on core vaccines, heartworm, flea, and tick preventatives. Story
Meet Kirby! The Hero of Fun and Adventure! Kirby is a 5-month-old black and white bundle of joy, ready to bring excitement and love into your life! Just like the classic character, Kirby is all about fun and play—especially when it involves zoomies in the grass, stuffy toys, and some outdoor exploration. Whether he's running through the yard or cuddling up after a game, Kirby’s energy is contagious, and his playful spirit will keep you smiling. Kirby is still a young pup, so he’s learning his basic manners and would love a family who can help him continue his training. He’s already got the the basics and is fully house trained, so he’s well on his way to becoming the best pup he can be! Kirby enjoys making new dog friends, so he’s always up for a good play session with his canine companions. Cues that Kirby Knows: Sit Down Touch Take it Trade me! If you’re looking for a loving, energetic pup who’s ready to take on adventures (and maybe steal a few toys along the way), Kirby is your guy!
