Meet Ben! Ben and his brother Jerry came to us after a utility worker discovered them in a home he was working on. The pups were in bad shape and were being treated very poorly so he stepped in and was able to get the pups out of the situation they were in. The pups have come to us to get their medical care and find a forever home! Ben and Jerry were born 8/27/23 (reportedly). They are sweet boys and Ben is the most outgoing of the two. He gets along well with other dogs. His adoption fee is $399 and includes his puppy vaccination series, routine labwork, neuter and microchip. Story
Meet Stormy! 3 years 53 lbs Stormy is a classic case of a crawl right in your heart pup, both figuratively and literally! She loves her people very passionately and quite possibly knows no limit to receiving pets and cuddles. She is really one of the most loving dogs ever! Stormy is also extremely quiet, she sleeps very well in a crate and loves to do the spins for treats and in just about any circumstance. She can be timid at first and a bit shy but if you take the slow approach and give her time she will show you all of the affection in the world. Her house skills are fairly well mannered. She does not bark when guests arrive nor does she rush the door. She has done well with kids! She will take advantage of furniture and occasionally likes to chew things so best in a crate if you are gone for her safety! Stormy has been staying with a dog trainer for several months so her training is incredible! The trainer would be willing to stay in touch with the adoptive family to help set them up for success as well. Stormy is good with other dogs! She is definitely a no for being around cats though. Her leash skills are great and she doesn’t pull and tires quickly. This beautiful girl is Rescued Rascals’ longest term dog, she has been us with us since April 2023. She is such a loving girl and we cannot wait for the right family to fall in love with her! Overall, her foster family truly adores this dog and we know the right family will as well. She is an enormous big eyed baby!!m Interested in adopting? Submit an adoption application on our website rescuedrascalsil.org! We will review your application at our earliest convenience. If your application is selected, we will contact you for a phone interview. From there, we’d schedule a meet and greet with the dog to make sure it is a great fit for adoption for the whole family and any other dogs in your home. Questions about adoption? Story
Meet Artemis! 3 years 51 lbs Artemis was found down in Tennessee. She’s had multiple litters and now this momma is ready to find her forever home! We think Artemis has spent a lot of her life in a crate: When she came to us she would not leave the crate! Her current foster family is working on getting her confident outside of the crate. She still has access to her bed for comfort when she gets nervous. Artemis is house trained and is left out of the crate when foster family leaves. She does not have accidents and goes outside in a fenced in backyard or while on a leashed walk. She is very quiet and low-key, but discovering a playful side. She gets a daily 10-20min leisurely walk but we are working on going longer. If she is feeling uncomfortable she will refuse to continue walking and pull on her leash to head back home. If you are the right family for Artemis please note that you will need to continue to work on building her confidence on walks! She is great on a leash and is not reactive to other dogs or people, but loud noises might scare her and if she wants to turn around and go home she is VERY strong. Artemis needs to be adopted by a family with another dog to continue developing her confidence. She loves snuggling with her foster sister (Penny, Australian cattle dog) and they share a water bowl. Does not share food bowl but can be fed at same time. No food aggression, no eating from each other’s bowls, no toy aggression, etc. She loves playing with her two toys, a teddy bear and a lamb stuffed animal. Once she is comfortable with your family she will toss it in the air and catch it and wrestle with it. It is the cutest thing to watch! She also LOVES to play tug of war. She loves to chew on bones and likes pretty much all human food. She is very gentle when taking treats. Artemis likes squeaky toys, supervising human kitchen activity, helping load the dishwasher, following current foster family around, cuddling & belly rubs, meats and cheeses, popcorn, sunbathing, couches, blankets, beds. She does not like walks if she hears a loud noise, carrots, and vegetables of any sort, and sometimes she will bark if a certain family member(s) left the house and she cannot find them. What is Artemis working on? Being a dog! She is starting to break out of her shell and will need a family that has another dog to build her confidence. Also working on going outside and just “enjoying” and sniffing around. Previously would just do her business and then return to her crate/corner for safety. She has not been around cats. Her current foster family includes a 6yr old girl and 9yr old boy. Kids need to be dog savvy since she is easily spooked. She’d do fine in a home with older kids or no kids too. She doesn’t know the name Artemis but (sometimes) responds to the name Missy. Foster family has been calling her “Artemissy! If you are the right fit for Artemis you must be a patient person. You must be willing to put in the work. She will not come to you…you need to go to her consistently and frustration free. This is no quick fix. Expect to work building her trust with humans every single day for a long time. But, if you are the right person, she is truly a diamond in the rough and it will be so rewarding to watch her blossom! Interested in adopting? Submit an adoption application on our website rescuedrascalsil.org! We will review your application at our earliest convenience. If your application is selected, we will contact you for a phone interview. Story
Hello, my name is Moonlight, and I am guessed to be around 3 years old. I'm a short gal, well short & stocky. I weigh 47#s. I'm guessed to be a Pocket Pittie mixed with a little Bulldog. I was found as a stray and brought to a local shelter. Shelter folks recognized I had babies, but I had no puppies with me. How I became a stray nobody knows. I waited for my owner to come look for me. Shelter folks were shocked that nobody came for me because I'm such a good girl. Every day for months I looked out my kennel thinking my owner is coming. Volunteers would come to walk me, and I would look around for my Humans. The nice people who took me for walks would tell me these 2 words: One day. One day. I didn't know what that meant. One day my family comes back for me? Then one day as I was being walked back into my kennel I ran into a TAR volunteer and her son. My "one day" got better because when I saw that young boy I got very excited. Maybe in my past my family had kids and I thought that boy is going to get me back to my family. He didn't because he said, "you are coming home with us." So, I got my Freedom Ride to my foster home, and I still hear the words "one day". When I cuddle with that young boy, he tells me "One day I am going to have a family again". Oh, I know that word family and I get very excited. I trust this young boy because he's the one who helped me get out of the shelter. He's the one who takes me for walks, cuddles with on the couch and gives me good treats. I show him the tricks I know and when I lay by his feet and snore, I make him laugh. I'm a quiet girl (except for my snoring) and love Humans, dogs and ignore the cats. I really am a people person. It's hard to tell by my pictures but my coloring is so pretty. I have a nice shiny, chocolate brown coat. Think of a deep, rich chocolate bar minus the calories. Speaking of calories, I'm kinda hefty but that makes me more enduring. I'm a real Lady and I don't make messes in the house. I know to do my business outside and at nighttime I can go into a crate, lay by your bed or if I can really wish sleep with you but heads up .... I snore. I can't wait for my family to come meet me one day. I hope I never have to be a stray again. I hope I can have a family that will take me for walks and car rides. I'm a special gal that will warm your heart. Everyone who meets me just loves me. Will you love me? Let's meet! Moonlight Moonlightis located in our foster home in Aurora. Story
Mittens is an approximately 1 year old male Pitbull mix. He was brought in as a stray at just 17.4 lbs and absolutely skeletal. Mittens is now feeling MUCH better and weighs 28 lbs and is now looking for his forever home. Mittens has been around some dogs, he does get overstimulated at times and can be very rough with his playing with other dogs. He can be a little snappy about taking treats and for this and a few other reasons we recommend him being placed with a family with older or no children. His adoption fee is $120 and includes his neuter, microchip, negative heartworm test and vaccinations. Please call 630-553-9256 or email animalcontrol@kendallcountyil.gov to start the adoption process.

Story
Apollo is a 2 year old male Pitbull mix who was brought to us as the owner no longer had time for him and had small children in the home who were scared of his energy levels. He is an active boy and would do best in a home with older children, and no small animals like cats or bunnies. He has gotten along with some dogs and doesn't like others. His adoption fee is $120 and includes his neuter, microchip, vaccinations and negative heartworm test.
