Meet Cobain! At just over two years old and around 70 pounds, this handsome hunk is smart, mischievous, playful, and loving—a true toddler in canine form. Cobain came to us as a rough-around-the-edges pup with zero manners and zero direction. But with time, training, and consistency, he has transformed into an incredible companion. He’s now housebroken, crate-trained, a leash-walking all-star, and continues to learn new things every day. This boy greets people happily, though he’s still working on keeping all four paws on the ground. Cobain can also be a bit of a roughhouser during playtime, so he’s best suited for a home with older, dog-savvy kids who can handle his goofy puppy antics. Outside the home, Cobain is an adventure dog at heart. He loves to explore and would make an amazing hiking or camping buddy. Cobain is dog-friendly, but like many pups, he can become scared or overwhelmed in big groups. One-on-one, however, he shines—especially with slow introductions. Story
Say hello to Gigi! This adorable peach is bursting with love for people and isn't shy about showing it. With her perfect mix of snuggles and sass, she's ready to bring her special brand of enthusiasm to your home! What is this girls back story, you might ask? How did she end up in our care? Gigi came from the B ellwood area. She was forgotten, abandoned and left behind by a previous owner, unclaimed and unnamed. Left in a poorly funded animal control where she slowly lost her mind due to kennel stress, lack of natural sunlight and limited to only an hour or so of time out of her enclosure daily. These kennels although run by loving individuals were kept in an area with no windows, surrounded by 4 cold concrete walls. Gigi had a guardian angel that saw a sparkle in her eye and thus she made her way to redemption road. Here she started her journey towards a better story. Months have gone by and Gigi is thriving, such resiliency is remarkable. She is more than ready to be a part of an active household that can match her energy and provide consistent training. While she's definitely the "queen of the castle" type, she gets along wonderfully with more laid-back dogs who don't mind her being the boss, preferably males. She has made a few friends during her foster experience which only adds enrichment to her spirit. Gigi has seen some tough and rough days, but her spirit is strong and she is ready to be someone cuddle bug. The sunrise to your sunset, the peanut butter to your jelly, this girl could be all that and more. This spunky lady would do best with older, sturdier kids: ages 13 and older who can handle her boisterous play style. And quick note: Gigi has officially declared cats not on her friend list! The perfect home for this good girl will give her plenty of activity, consistent boundaries, and all the love her big heart deserves. Ready for a dog that's equal parts spirited and sweetness? Meet Harrison Ford! This handsome boy never stops smiling. If you are looking for a highly intelligent companion with a big heart to always make you laugh, Harrison is the goofy guy for you! Harrison loves nothing more than spending time with people. Some of his favorite activities are sunbathing (absolute favorite), playing monkey-in-the-middle (only if he’s in the middle), smart toys, watching human reality TV, and his favorite snack is blueberries.  He is looking for a forever home where he can be the only dog and a family that can manage a recently diagnosed autoimmune condition; he currently requires medication for it. Harrison has been in foster care at Reach Rescue since he was a 4 month old puppy and is holding out hope that someone out there is willing to take a chance on him! He has the biggest heart to give in return. Introducing Toots! Toots is still settling into her foster home, and her foster family is enjoying getting to know her more each day. What we already know is that she is a very sweet, well-mannered girl who is house broken and crate trained—a wonderful start for her next chapter. She walks confidently on leash and is a strong, fast walker, currently working on improving her leash manners. Toots enjoys her outings and would do well with someone who can continue to guide her with consistency and patience. She is good with most dogs, but not cats, and requires a cat-free home. Toots has a soft spot for treats and food, and she loves spending time watching wildlife—clearly a curious observer of the world around her. She came to us from Waukegan Animal Control, where she was lovingly known as Roxie, and is now ready for a fresh start under her new name. As her foster family continues to learn more about her personality, one thing is already clear: Toots has a lot of love to give and will make a wonderful companion for the right home. Jasmine is a beautiful, shy girl who is already spayed, crate trained, and working on her potty training. She is good with other dogs and may even do well with cats. While she wants to play with canine friends, she’s still learning how to feel confident around them. Jasmine is very timid at first and can seem almost frozen in new situations. She needs a few days to warm up, but once she feels safe, her affectionate side blossoms. She absolutely loves attention—sometimes a little too much—and is currently working on building independence so she can feel secure even when she’s not being doted on. She does not appreciate strangers invading her space and needs someone who will respect her boundaries while helping her learn to trust. With patience, consistency, and gentle guidance, this sweet girl will continue coming out of her shell. Jasmine will thrive in a home with an adopter who has some experience with shy or anxious dogs or someone willing to learn. She’s eager for love, structure, and reassurance—and with the right person, she has the potential to become a truly devoted companion.
