Coal is a 4-year-old Pit Bull with the energy of burning charcoal, always fired up for play and adventure. He`s an avid frisbee enthusiast and carries his favorite red disc with him everywhere he goes. He loves going on long walks and playing fetch at the park, or getting a drink at the water fountain. When he`s not chasing frisbees or going for walks, Coal loves to relax in the sun. He`ll often be found sunbathing in the yard, soaking up the rays.While Coal loves to play and run, he also knows how to relax. He`s a gentle giant who loves to snuggle on the couch. He makes for a great heater when these fall days start to get chilly! He`s been great with other dogs, including the resident senior male pit mix and a young female basset hound. He`s especially fond of playing tug-of-war and chase with his foster sister.This handsome boy is eager to please and has mastered a variety of commands and tricks, including sit, down, heel, off, paw, place, settle, and speak, especially when there`s peanut butter involved. He`s also crate trained and enjoys his nightly wind-downs in his cozy crate.Coal is a people-pleaser, but his enthusiasm can sometimes get the best of him. We think he`d do best with older kids who can handle his playful energy. He`s looking for an active family who can provide him with plenty of exercise and love.Interested in adopting this dog? Edison is the utmost, regal gentleman and chill dog according to his foster mom. He will lounge through noise and chaos and is fine sleeping in a crate after settling down. He has been a respectful houseguest and not gotten into any trouble. Still a young boy, this large and friendly guy walks well on a harness and is redirected with treats when needed. He likes the yard, though is not so sure about snow just yet. Edison is very food motivated which has helped him quickly learn to sit and give a paw. He`s ready for his forever family to continue training.This adorable guy grumbles cutely to get attention and has been just a wonderful companion. He is cooperative everywhere, even the vet, barking only when appropriate, Edison will be a fantastic addition to a family who seeks a larger dog. He sure has the charm and manners for a lucky family looking for a sweet gentleman.Interested in adopting this dog? Hello! My name is Sunny – it was the name given to me by the kind Chicago police sergeant who came to my aid after the neighbors reported seeing someone toss me from a car. I was left behind but found a small girl and her nice Mom to play with in the park while I was waiting for a rescuer. That nice officer realized I was pregnant with puppies and reached out to some rescues and CDR stepped up to the plate! I found a great foster home that supported me and took amazing care of me and my adorable TWELVE puppies! Now that they have gotten old enough to find homes of their own….it’s MY TURN to find my furever home! I am a perfect short-stacked, medium-sized pup, weighing just about 45 pounds. I am house-trained, crate-trained, and GREAT with kids. I also walk really well on a leash with just a little bit of re-direction. I have had the chance to meet a couple of dogs while on my rescue journey and while I’ve done ok, I tend to be a little picky about other dogs in my space. So, a home would do best in a home as an only pup! I can be a little slow to warm up to men, but with some patience and of course, a steady stream of treats never hurts. A male/female couple with no kids might work but I can get a little protective of kids around men. No offense to men, but my foster mom says if I could find an all-female household with or without kids and as an only dog that would be a perfect fit for me! Wants attention all the time. Friendly, likes to be pet after settled down. Gets easily tired with .25 miles walk likes to be cuddled and likes to sleep in bed but also sleeps in own bed. Enjoy chasing water when watering plants/flowers. Barks at other dogs when outside in the yard when get intimidated and watched squirrels when running up and down trees.

Story
We got Norman as a 6 month old puppy from a friend. He has transitioned with us going from a married couple to a married couple with kids. Norman has always been a very high energy and high anxiety dog, even as a puppy. We thought he would be a great family dog until he, on multiple occasions, started snapping at our son. He has never broken skin but he has left marks. He has also been banned from the couch because he growls at the baby when she tries to get up. We're not sure when things changed but we are not currently able to cater to what he needs.Norman is a farm dog through and through. He absolutely loves running in an open field, chasing a vehicle and a vacuum and diving face and or butt first under a pile of blankets.Norman is the best boy that needs a family that moves slow in the house, but fast outside. Loves kids that arent his own and will get along with certain dogs. He LOVES the car as much as he hates water and getting his nails clipped.
